I am a Family Nurse Practitioner Student (FNP) at Frontier Nursing University (FNU). My passion to care for people was evident when I was growing up and I knew I wanted to become a nurse and care for the sick when I cared for my grandmother who was not feeling well. After high school, I started my career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) and worked with the elderly population which I really enjoyed. I worked as a CNA as I enrolled to school and earned my Associate degree in nursing in 2011. As an RN, I continued to work in a nursing home and rehab facility with the elderly as I decided to pursue my BSN. As a child my enthusiasm with the nursing and medical field has grown over the years into a career. I want to continue that growth into the advanced practice nursing role as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Receiving this scholarship will enable me to continue to make progress toward my degree in preparation for a career that will make a difference in my community. FNU will have prepared me to become a leader within my community as I provide cost effective quality care. FNU has a proven reputation for providing strong education and training for advanced practice nurses who are competent, caring, and can meet the demands of healthcare and being a part of Frontier I have see this first hand and therefore I intend to utilize what I have learned in my everyday practice using evidence based research to provide quality excellent care. Being a Frontier graduate, I feel that I can provide quality continuity of care within the underserved community and assist in advancing health and wellness for my patients upon graduation through utilization of the knowledge and skills gained through an education at Frontier.
