Becoming a nurse has always been an aspiration of mine, I’ve always wanted a job that uses my caring nature and becoming a nurse seems like the perfect fit. Any job can be rewarding but working in the medical field where you can help save lives, make differences and be supportive at a person’s time of need is at the top of my list when I think of a rewarding career. I am choosing this course because I love learning new things and with a nursing career no day will be the same as the day before, so you will constantly be learning new skills, plus there are many different areas of nursing that you can go in to, so this will enable me to put my skills that I already have in to use but also learn completely new things. This subject interests me because throughout my time in school I was always interested in the science (health side) to things so I would always research different areas, print bits out and put them all in a file. Still, to this day I continue to research different illnesses, medications, and treatments and put them all into the same file. I am suitable for this course because I am very determined, well driven, committed to learning new things and willing to try anything if it means getting closer to my goal of becoming a nurse. Doing a health and social care course gave me an insight of what a career in health would entail as I have been on many placements where they have helped me adapt my practical and interpersonal skills that are needed to be successful.
I have chosen to become a Registered Nurse because, I like to be challenged, I want situations to be difficult so I can use my skills and knowledge to solve them to the best of my ability. I have the drive and determination to become a nurse and care for others in different situations every day. I want to make a difference in people’s life, and I know being a nurse will help me fulfill this want.
I expect to learn from this course, how to vocalize my views and standpoint and communicate my views on a particular subject, by participating in discussions and submitting assignments. This course has allowed me to develop my pace when researching and creating subject materials, which in the future should allow me to use as a graduate nurse.
My three goals for this course are as follows: to better understand the current legal and ethical climate of health care and specifically nursing, to be aware of that climate as I enter clinical, and to understand how I as a nurse can work to make the system more ethical. I chose these three goals, because they provide me with the opportunity to first learn about the current legal and ethical climate of nursing from an academic standpoint while examining how that knowledge translates to what I’m experiencing in clinical. My last goal is reflection-focused, and will allow me to take 5101 course content with me as I move forward as a professional nurse. I plan to accomplish these goals by being present in class preparation, lecture, and seminar,
Registered nurses work alongside physicians providing patient care in a variety of ways. A few examples of what nurses are responsible for include: administering medications, tracking patient’s vital signs, helping to diagnose and properly treat patient aliments and educating the patient and their family on their condition and the course of treatment. Depending on what area of medicine a nurse works in will determine more generalized and specific duties and responsibilities. There are many different areas a nurse may work in. Some areas include: obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency room, and many more. Nurses can work in a variety of settings, these can include: hospitals, urgent cares, doctors office, nursing homes and home health.
My ambition is to graduate St. Francis College as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in the upcoming years. Although majoring in nursing will not be easy, I feel I am prepared for the challenge. At this time in my life I cannot see myself majoring in anything else. As a young girl, with a mother working in the medical field, I was always fascinated going to work with her. Working in a doctor’s office these past two and a half years myself has given me much experience with patients and has made it more to clear to me that this is what I want to pursue as a career. I wish to be a nurse because I seem to get a feeling of warmth and internal satisfaction when helping those in need. I have begun to learn that medicine is not the only cure for people’s ailments. It is the care they receive by those around them whether it is in a hospital, nursing home, or even their own home. This is where I believe that I can make a great difference in people 's lives by helping them recover.
Becoming involved in the medical field is something that has always interested me. Whether it was just learning new things about the human body or the idea of being able to help take care of someone. The human body itself is one of the most complex things and we are constantly learning new things about it all the time. When you are given the opportunity to become a nurse, you learn about all the things that
After graduating from Blackhawk Technical College my nursing career will begin at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital as a surgical/pediatric nurse. I am excited to begin this journey within an organization I have been a part of since before the doors opened in January of 2012. St. Mary's Janesville is partnered with several colleges offering ADN to BSN degrees. My future goals include enrolling and completing an ADN to BSN degree program by December of 2020. In addition to earning my BSN by 2020, my goals also include obtaining my ACLS and PALS certificates within four months of hire.
I am a nursing student. I have a great passion for caring for others. My short term goals are to graduate Riverland Community College with my Associate's Degree in Nursing this December. I plan to work very hard and prepare to take my nursing licensure exam at the beginning of next year to become licensed as a registered nurse. I will then transfer to Metropolitan State University to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
As the future quickly ahead of me is being planned I have already come to the conclusion that becoming a Nurse Practitioner is what my heart most desires. A nurse practitioner is a person that is taught to utilize their critical thinking skills with advanced academic learning in order to take care of others by making clinical desicion making as it pertains to emotional, mental and physical being .This includes giving them medical instructions to specific or general illnesses to follow at home and through out the managing of their chronic illnesses. Furthermore, reasearching to become a nurse has been enlightening and prior to this course I was not aware that there were many specialities that I could select from such as Genetics, Geriatric, Pediatrics, Addiction, Neonatology , Rehab. Depending on the specificity of the areas of health the requirements for a higher education are
The course I wish to study is Nursing because I have always had a fascination as a child watching those in the health industry help those that were sick and at their most vulnerable become better again. As a child my younger brother and I both spent our first months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and my dream is to be able to work in women’s health as well as working with infants and children who are sick and in need of help like we were. I have never doubted if Nursing would be the right career choice for
I really enjoy Health and Social Care at GCSE because what I learn in lesson does help me in real life. For example, as part of my coursework, I had to find out how an individual with a medical issue’s needs are met, by healthcare professionals and a third party. Doing the coursework really opened my eyes to how healthcare services work together to meet the needs of an individual, and the barriers which can hinder someone from getting the help they need. My
The four courses I took that contribute to my career goal are Health Studies 131 (CPR class),Family and Consumer Science 342(Nutrition), Kinesiology 275(Anatomical Kinesiology) and Health Studies 133(Healthy Lifestyles). In Health Studies 131, it deals with the learning basic of CPR and first-aid safety. It teaches you what to do and what not to do incase of an emergency and other precautions around you. In FCS 342, I learned about impotant fact and key terms to know about nutrition. This can be useful in my profession because I can give the helpful information to my patients. For Kinesiology 275 ,I learned about the human body which consist of the knowing the anatomical names for the bones, the muscles ,and possible injuriesof both. And in Health Studies 133, was about learning to have a healthy lifestyle.
My first Nursing Career goal is to complete my education here at St. Francis College to obtain my Bachelors of Science in Nursing and to pass my NCLEX exam. After passing the NCLEX I would like to work as a Registered Nurse in a hospital in or around New York City. While working as a Registered Nurse I would like to gain experience in the field to finally decide what aspect of Nursing I would like to specialize in. My overall goal right now, is to work as an RN and to go back to school to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Within my career my goals are to do my job to the best of my ability. I want to help as many patients as I possibly can and make their experience in the hospital the best it can be.
I enjoyed taking this course. Looking back to week one, I was also placed in a similar situation where I wanted to contribute more to my community, my patients and to nursing. I love being a nurse, but I wanted to take on more of a leadership role. When I decided to go to graduate school, I knew I did not want to work in administration. I still wanted to take care of my patients. I chose Family nurse practitioner because this role will place me in a leadership position and I will still be able to care for my patients. As an NP I will have the freedom of autonomy in caring for my patients (Weiland, 2015).
Before the age of eighteen, I had lived in three countries. My father’s career as a doctor and scientist of Military, Disaster & Extreme Medicine took my family throughout Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Ukraine. Although it was a challenge for me to continually adapt to new places and learn three languages, I am grateful for the cultural exposure that traveling provided me. In every new environment I was raised to treat others with equal respect and kindness regardless of any differences or similarities we may have had. This exposure has taught me that successful acclimation lies in the ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds. Here, in a country of immigrants, I have met people from countries all around the world. The Nursing field provides me the opportunity to help all people regardless of age, sex or ethnicity. I seek a Nursing degree here in the United States in order to increase my knowledge and to be able to practice in the field of professional nursing. My goal of becoming a Registered Nurse has long been encouraged by my personal interest in the profession and by my experience, previous education and achievements. These factors continue to motivate and inspire my desire to seek this degree and become a healthcare professional.
