Throughout the progression of this course I learned countless things concerning my writing. {Simkin, M. G., Crews, J. M., & Groves, M. J. (2012). While it’s there’s a many amounts of things ‘ve learned throughout the course, there are several things I‘ve learned which include the step by step process, including the correct usage of grammar and properly proofreading my work before I turn it in. I found out i had a major problem with my punctuation usage and insufficient when it came my periods and commas. I’ve invested some time writing through grammarly and other helpful sites to improve my writing skills. I appreciate the assistance and help I received from Mrs. C

Writing is one of the most important skills that I have learned throughout my years in school. I have learned that no matter how much I love or hate it, writing is a necessity; I might as well try to be good at it. Writing has been in my life for many years. Through writing, people convey their thoughts and ideas, connect to others, and pass on wisdom generations by generations. More importantly, writing effectively promotes the advancement of society. Though some people have not realized the how writing benefits from writing, the author of the article “How to Read Like A Writer”, Mike Bunn illustrates that focusing more on the rhetorical “strategies” and structure rather than the content can improve our own writing.

Having the right writing skills sets a person up for success in life. Life, in terms of the business world, is based on two things: math and writing. Not being able to do both of those puts a person behind, and stops them from getting a job that is worth having. Both The Writing Revolution by Peg Tyre and A Hope in the Unseen by Ron Suskind emphasizes that without the right writing skills, an individual will be less successful. Writing should be taught in every class because it will be handy for any job they choose, and because it will be used everyday of their life.

Being able to write well helps with marketing and publicity: writing letters to potential sponsors, writing the text/content for my website, writing promotional posts for my kennel Facebook page. Being able to write well allows you to sound more professional - and that makes potential sponsors, even puppy buyers, instinctively trust you more. In order to provide students with the best education and future possible, writing in schools needs to be focused on more in depth. Everyone needs to have a basic understanding of grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and other writing aspects. This is so they can communicate correctly when they get a job in the future and be confident in their writing and communication skills. If someone is not comfortable speaking and/or writing to communicate with others, they are not going to be willing to go out of their comfort zone when they have to communicate with others. With this being said, teachers and schools need to take larger steps to ensure that their students are receiving the proper writing skills needed to be successful in the near future.

One of the tips that has really helped me the when writing and improving my writing is, write your thoughts before organizing them. My mind flows when I am writing a paper or thinking about the topic and I sometimes forget to write everything down, so before I write a paper I sit down and really think about my topic, then I just write words and phrases that come to mind so that when I start my paper I have a general idea about what I want to write.

I grew up in a extremely small town outside of Birmingham, and the high school I went to is not known for its academia. If I recall right, my high school english classes assigned only 1-2 papers a year, so writing 4-5 in a semester was a completely new adventure for me. I learned many things in this course that greatly helped me improve my writing. My writing overall improved in style, flow, and basic fundamental writing thought processes, which is all the areas that are hard to learn. I started to see my style and flow had grown bland and very fact based instead of grabbing the attention of the readers. Now that I understand where my writing needs improvement, I can start focusing on those areas and fixing my papers.

Ever since I was young, English has always been one my least favorite subjects throughout school because I did not enjoying writing. Writing always frustrated me because it seemed so time consuming. But as I grew older I came to the realization that writing papers are not as hard as we set it out to be. If you formulate a method to how you will complete the paper, and follow through with it, it makes the entire process so much easier. For example, for all the students who procrastinate with their assignments until the day before it is due. Think about all the time and effort you have to put fourth to complete an entire paper in one day. Imagine how much less effort it would take to simply start working on the assignment at least four days before the required due date. You would only have to spend an hour or two a day to complete the entire essay. All you have to do is develop a plan as to what you want to accomplish each day and a writing strategy to following while writing. Throughout my English courses I have assembled my own writing strategies, and the first step to writing a good essay is pre-writing.

Writing is such an important tool. It has the capacity to empower both the reader and writer. There is even a famous proverb that says, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” That’s why it makes sense for the majority of my academic career to be geared towards the improvement of my writing. There is no denying that there is an infinite number of ways that I can improve my writing. After writing multiple essays for this English 100 Y class, my professor pointed out certain aspects of my writing that I could work on. Two of those suggestions stuck out to me because it seemed as though I was making these mistakes multiple times throughout various forms of writing. One of the mistakes I make is the use of ‘favorite’ words, or words that I use too many times in the same paper; another is that I use choppy sentences while writing my essays.

Grammar, spelling and punctuation all play an important role in the relationship between the writer and the reader. Grammatically correct texts are easier to read. Also, when you have a proper understanding of grammar is also makes the writing process

When enhancing my writing skills , this will also help improve my poor grammar and spelling. Having good writing skills will help you succeed in your academics and professional career. Better writing skills communicate intelligence, professionalism, and competency. The inability to write clearly and effectively communicate through the written word significantly impacts your ability to land a new job or promotion. Enhancing my writing skills will allow me to advance further along in my career.
