There has been much controversy involving racial injustices. From the many killings by police officers of innocent and unarmed African Americans, to well recognized symbolism that may have negative connotations to some such as the Confederate flag. Dave smith is know as the fighting priest, not only for his drive to help the less fortunate and troubled youth, but as a well-known boxer. He is an Anglican Parish Priest, based in Australia. Dave’s goal was to help high-risk teenagers especially those who have anger management issues or substance abuse, as he was formally a troubled youth himself. He uses his 6th degree black belt and professional boxer background to discipline and guide the teenagers. Father Dave was born in Newtown, Sydney in 1962 to Bruce and Joan Smith he was the oldest of three boys. His father, Bruce Smith, was a well-known Evangelical Anglican priest, public speaker and theological lecturer. Father Dave completed an Arts degree with honours in Philosophy in 1984 before heading to the Anglican seminary of Moore College in 1985. A school teacher, a husband, and a father, Dan Coughenour is a very dedicated man. Dan was born on January 22, 1969 to Richard and Sue Coughenour. He grew up in Macon, Georgia where he lived with his mom and dad and two brothers. He was the middle child in his family and didn’t mind it at all. As a young boy, he went to a private school. Once he went to highschool he decided to go to a public school. As a child, his favorite memory was getting to see his grandparents in North Carolina. They lived eight hours away so he didn’t get to see them but once or twice a year. He also enjoyed going to Sunset Beach, NC every summer. After high school he went off to Valdosta State College planning to become a school teacher.

She has a double BA in sociology and Science and Technology studies from Cornell University. After undergraduate studies, she taught for Teach for America in Houston, Texas from 2008 to 2010. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Sound studies within the Department of Science & Technology Studies at Cornell University.
