The goal of Honors education on a college level is to help those students who are willing to put in the extra hours to achieve a deeper exploration into the topics they are being taught. Honors education goes a beyond just sitting in a lecture hall for a duration of a class, submitting assignments on time, and passing the test successfully; Honors education helps its students get a better understanding of the material through a smaller class setting and a world’s view. The goal of Honors education is to give all the necessary teaching, the students need to forth in the world after graduation and have that factor that sets them apart from the rest. Organizations such as the National Honors Society have more than just one single objective for students to accomplish. The main goals of a group like this one offer many purposes designed to benefit students’ futures and prepare them not only for their academic life, but their social life as well. I have decided to apply to UNCW Honors College to excel in my studies and help me further my education. Being a part of the Honors College will help me in the future, as I plan to attend medical school. This is my second time applying to the UNCW Honors College. I am now a sophomore who has worked very hard to obtain good grades and a good GPA. My hard work has paid off as I made the Dean’s list this year. I believe the program is searching for a student that exemplifies great academic achievement, strong leadership qualities, good work ethic, and strong dedication. These qualities ensure that the student is willing and able to complete the requirements of the honors program and go above and beyond them. Great academic achievement is an important factor for the program because it shows that the student has the ability to undertake the challenge of the program. I believe I have the ability to undertake this challenge because my grades have lead me to receive academic honors and offers. I was honored through my induction into the National Honors Society following after my junior year.
There are many benefits in Honors College, such as priority registration, smaller class sizes, travel opportunities, speaker forums, film nights, and many other privileges. Honors College students receive consideration for Phi Kappa International if they qualify. “It’s very rewarding,” Sean Daniel a U.S. History major and honor student, said.
I am a journalism major with a focus in public relations and a minor in marketing therefore I believe the Honors college will enhance my academic experience at Georgia State by allowing me to develop my people skills as well as my personal professional development. The honors college programs do not only provide rigorous academic programs for strong individuals to constantly feel challenged but it also provides guidance to develop individual professionalism ,and I believe both would allow me to grow as a journalism major. In addition, I know the amazing staff that the honors college provides would help me maintain my focus and personal development all four years of my undergraduate studies.
Joining the Honors College will develop my authenticity, not in the sense that I will be a more honest person, but rather, that I will know more about myself and have better reasoning behind my beliefs. The challenging course load that Honors Students face requires a deeper level of reflection. Students must not only know the material, but have a solid foundation behind it. This forces students to question their worldly views, resulting in a reformed person both socially and academically. Striving for a deeper understanding requires my views to constantly evolve.
Participating in the honors college will propel me into a greater path in my school and in my entire life. Being a part of the Georgia State University honors college will open avenues for me over these next 3 years. The catch to being in the Honors Program is that “to complete the Honors Program and be recognized as an Honors graduate, a student must complete at least 12 hours of Honors work with a minimum of a “B” in each Honors course” (“Honors Program”). This is a problem to many students, because by the time they learn that they can be involved in the Honors Program, they may have already completed many if not all of the courses that are available for honors. In addition, they may not feel inclined to take a class that is not required for their degree.
They are the leaders of the future, and the leaders of their future. Honors students are lifelong learners who will always step towards challenging tasks. They pace themselves and manage their time. These students don't rush to finish projects. AIG/Honors students will turn in homework, assignments, and projects on time. AIG/Honors student will use their time productively and to their advantage.

To be an honors student it means you are responsible and respectful. A honors student should be ready to take a task and fulfil it to the best of their ability. It means they are ready to challenge yourself with complex tasks and complete them responsibly while going above and beyond.
