How Does Randy Pausch Show Perseverance

What is the definition of perseverance? Well, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, perseverance is “steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success”. The quirky, ambitious Junior and the creative, enthusiastic Randy Pausch both display immense amounts of perseverance. Junior demonstrates this by attending Reardan High School to prove that he is still alive and reaching for his goals. Randy Pausch displays his perseverance through his brick walls; the obstacles in one’s life and how they show how bad one desires something. The two individuals are enduring through the challenges in their lives, and eventually are able to overcome them. He was a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, and gave a lecture titled “The Last Lecture”, where professors are tasked with providing a lecture as if it was their last. But here’s the plot twist: it really was Randy’s last lecture, since he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just a few months before the lecture. Randy tried to construct a speech that would not only be a last lecture, but also a message to his little children about how to live life, and that would be his most difficult challenge. The presentation he created was designed to tell a complete story of his life, and during the talk he mentioned brick walls. He discusses the brick walls that emerged in his life, such as trying to date Jai and attempting to float in near zero gravity. He manages to overcome them, and even achieves his childhood dreams such as becoming a Disney Imagineer, and it is all because of Randy’s perseverance and being able to conquer the trials in front of him.
