The impact of a scholarship varies from person to person, and no matter the amount it does make a significant difference in the student’s life. For me, being granted a scholarship would be a first step towards achieving my personal goal of earning my Bachelor’s in nursing. My father died when I was 16, and since then my only financial support has been my mother. I have tried to avoid going into debt to the best of my ability by using money I already have, but I know that as I want to further my education to get my Master’s and become a nurse anesthetist I will have to take out loans. With my master’s degree I would be able to help more people suffering from pain and going into surgeries, and also be able to provide assistance to anesthesiologists to ensure the patient has the best care possible. College in general is somewhat expensive, and the degree I intend to get is very expensive (upwards of thirty thousand dollars a year), so any money I can save now will be put towards getting my higher degree. Professionally, this scholarship would ensure that I am able to get the education I need to go into a career I feel a strong calling for. When I first started college, I wanted to be a doctor, and as I thought about it more I realized I wanted a career where I would be closer to the patients. During my stay and visits to hospitals, it was typically the nurses that made the largest difference in the lives of the people there, not the doctors. All in all, being granted a scholarship is something I would sincerely appreciate because it would enable me to help other people in my life and make a positive difference in the world. They say that money cannot buy happiness, but it can pay for an education that leads to me bringing happiness to others, and I suppose that is all I can truly hope for in life.
