Richard Connell’s use of imagery in the story, “The Most Dangerous Game” was effective because it enhanced the understanding of Rainsford’s mood when he was being hunted by General Zaroff. According to literarydevices.net, “Imagery means to use figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses.” The purpose of imagery is to use descriptive words that create a visual image in the reader’s mind.
