During my time at Union County College I have been faced with a lot of difficulties. I’ve struggled along the way but one thing I do believe is that I have the power to do better. My GPA has been affected by my personal mistakes. In my past semesters I have let my job take over my life rather than let school be most important. I have also let my personal family problems affect my work ethic. But through my fall 2014, it was most difficult because of March 2014 I lost my father through an unexpected heart attack. Throughout my fall semester I did struggle and cope with my father not being here anymore. I believed that I wasn’t focused enough because I used fall semester as a time to occupy myself rather that time out to deal with my father’s
On the positive side, college can be a great option if the student knows what he/she is doing, but at the end the rewards are very useful for daily life, since you can find many more opportunities compared to students who decided to drop out of college or either chose not to proceed to college.
Preparing for College after graduating from high school is considered to be as one of the most thought by students. Even so, most students nowadays are uncertain whether attending college will be a good advantage for them. Some believe that it is a waste of time and money, but most people consider it as a reason to thrive in life. Unlike High school, College is certainly different because it determines your future and should be taken more earnestly by the students. College education is a worth of cost because it basically provides students with great benefits, which can be a good help in shaping their future goals.
Many high school students all think the same question. Is college worth the money and time? People can be more successful with a college degree if they use it the right way. With a degree there is a higher percentage of getting a more premier job. In the long run, college is worth it because most jobs pay more for people with a degree, the amount of jobs available are more broad, and college graduates tend to live a healthier life.
College can still be worth it for many people when they are deciding on their future path. College doesn’t have to be very expensive, there are many scholarships that students can apply for to help reduce the cost. Also, having a college degree will allow the person to have the option for career changes in their lifetime. Some colleges offer work co-op programs,an internship, where the person can get a degree, learn their skill, and make money. This allows them to feel more comfortable in their field, and it helps to eliminate some of their student debt. These are just a few of the reasons why college can still be very beneficial to people, and why college can still be worth it for many people.
Throughout a student’s journey of schooling, college is mentioned hundreds of times. Maybe even thousands. Once they reach high school the next four years are dedicated to preparing for college. Some will feel overwhelmed by this thought and others may not. While a lot of people have the option to go, many decide not to. In Charles Murray’s article, Are Too Many People Going to College he discusses a few reasons why people might not choose college. Although in my own opinion it is not always necessary to attend college, I do believe it will benefit many people. Freeman Hrabowski’s article Colleges Prepare People for Life makes a point about benefits of college which I agree with.
After spending the last two years at a community college working toward my associates degree, I am transferring this fall to the State University just thirty minutes from home.

The smell of freedom is smelt in the field like freshly baked bread. High School graduation means freedom and independence for most. Decisions of what college to go to have to be made. Many argue that four-year colleges are better and others argue trade school is. However, four-year colleges is a much better choice because it makes students more intellectually prepared, earns them more money, and they have a higher chance of employment.
Wesleyan College is a school where I believe I will be challenged to the max, academically and mentally. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, a city full of diversity, life and light, where one second you may be speaking to a Cuban American, such as myself, and the next minute you might find yourself speaking to someone from the Philippines. Growing up with such an abundance of diversity has prepared me to confidently take on any situation without hesitation.
Being that my mother was a single mother, we had a close relationship, we were each other’s support. My sister and I had a bond beyond a normal sibling’s relationship, we were each other’s stability when there wasn’t any and each other support when we felt it was lacking. My sister and I were mature and very responsible at a young age, we seemed to have grown up fast. My mother nor father had gone to college, they were both educated in trades therefore, and college was never discussed. I research college, went on campus tours, applied to college and went on an interview with friends. I chose Bay Path College for many reasons but, many because it was not too far from home. I chose Legal Studies as my major, I’m not sure why, other than it sounded like an interesting career. Relationships were far from my mind and I avoided dating at all costs until the summer before college
Is going to college more beneficial than not going to college? Is it right for me? Many students who apply to college have doubts and are scared to make that big step. I believe that college is beneficial to expand your knowledge through college. College is not the only option after high school, but it will help with earning more money, getting a better job, and interacting skills.
“Dartmouth is a great school,” my grandpa said carefully. “One of the very best.” He took a long pause here. My grandpa opened and closed his mouth a few times, seeming to taste his words before speaking again. “But, the men there are pigs.” The silence hung in the air like the scent of the dinner rolls my mom had burnt that Thanksgiving. I, his granddaughter, was applying to Dartmouth College, his alma mater, something I had thought would be a source of joy, even pride, for the 85 year old. But I was sorely wrong. It’s not that he ever directly told me not to apply there-- such comments were saved for my parents—but he did spend the entirety of that Thanksgiving visit tactfully dropping assertions about how disrespectful the men of Dartmouth are.
In the competitive world that we live in, even a low-paying job can be difficult to procure, not to mention how scarce high-paying jobs and reasonable working conditions are. A college education makes it easier to get high paying jobs and stand out in job applications. College graduates have an edge and a larger variety of jobs to choose from. Even if through the college education I do not find what I enjoy doing, the professors, people I would have met, and activities that I would have participated in, will most likely give me a larger insight on what I want to do as a career.
It is often said that people who go to college are more likely to succeed than the people who don’t go to college. The ones who further their education after high school are usually the ones expected to go far in life and get better prepared in the real world. College is not for everyone and the ones who do go end up dropping out and not graduating. I do not believe it is beneficial to go to college. If you go to college, it is not guaranteed you a get a job right after, you stay in debt for maybe the rest of your life, and it is time consuming. If college is not right for you, don't spend all the time and money because at the end it will not be worth it.
