According to true colors I am a green. The twenty words that best describes me are analytical, calm, cool, investigative, strength, creative, strategic thinker, knowledgeable, visionary, enthusiastic, independent thinker, future focus, objective, tough minded, meaningless dialogue, emotional displays, subjective thinking, social function, challenging and flexible.

The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is an independent, nonprofit, student-run organization. The AIAS strives to provide the future generation of architects with progressive programs, information, and resources on issues critical to architecture and the experience of education [9]. “The mission of the AIAS is to promote excellence in architectural education, training, and practice; to foster and appreciation of architecture and related disciplines; to enrich communities in a spirit of collaboration; and to organize students and combine their efforts to advance the art and science of architecture” [9]. The AIAS official website provides as an ample to tool to communicate with peers through in many ways. Orange you glad I’m an orange? Oranges, according to various quizzes and charts, tend to be the most creative and artistic of the four personality types. When creativity comes to mind, I think of how much of an impact it has made one my life and my choices leading up to today.

Interior design and architecture are essential, and often overlooked, aspects of everyday life. In modern society people rely on function, durability, and visual appeal when selecting designs for their homes, businesses, and places of leisure. The way that a space is designed influences such things as mood, which, in the case of a business, can impact the productivity of employees and either draw or repel customers. In residential design, the design becomes very personal and, to be considered a successful design, must properly reflect the home owner while at the same time offering some practicality that makes the space livable. An effective design, for any space, must solve some problem, be it function, flexibility, or some other criteria. Simply solving a problem would not please the customer, however, unless it offered some visual appeal. Creating function with style is the real job of any interior designer, and is essential in a content society.

In 2015, U3 Advisors expanded the Chula Vista team by retaining the following four individuals to act in an advisory capacity on the project; Denise Ducheny, retired California State Senator, and Clarissa Reyes Falcon of Falcon Consulting, to act as the local representatives for the institutional recruitment process, and Eduardo Glandt, Dean of Engineering, Emeritus, University of Pennsylvania as an academic and institutional sounding board. We also consulted with Mexican-American Architect Enrique Norten who has close ties to Chula Vista as well as high-level Mexican governmental and higher education officials.

Being environmentally friendly isn’t merely a trend. After thousands of years of using the earth’s resources, we have finally come to realize that we are destroying this beautiful gift we were honored with. Architects play an influential role in trying to preserve this gift by encouraging a multitude of strategies that can be more cost efficient in the long run, be more comfortable for its users, and most importantly, have a lower carbon footprint. Strategies can include drastic changes to heat and air systems, construction material selections, or even specific design details to the architecture of a building that would reduce the amount of energy it consumes.

Taking a design that was once used for events, now abandoned and derelict, and reinventing its potential to be used by all to enrich their lives and provide a social and content atmosphere is a goal of attaining. It will be something extraordinary to redesign a building and mix existing features to make a new design that everyone can appreciate. “Instead of downplaying the 110-year-old building, S&T made enthusiastic use of the old timber floors, brick walls and open trusses, celebrating heritage alongside contemporary design.” (Arch Daily). No matter what materials, space, or structure is being used within a design, in the end, it is always about the creativity for its achievement. “Creativity is about play and a kind of willingness to go with your intuition. It’s crucial for an artist. If you know where you are going and what you are going to do, why do it?” (Freshome). Capturing memories and expressing them into a design that tells a story that has never been told is what makes this project, inimitable; it cannot be special if it was heard or seen before. I was so incredibly excited when Neal Dougherty began talking in class on Thursday because I was on the wait list for his 306 classes this spring. Sadly, I did not get in, but I was so thankful he came to talk to the class! Hearing about the digital artwork Neal and Dax have created is exactly why I wanted to do the Bridging Disciplines Program in the first place. Graphic design and 2D artwork is one of my passions in life and it is inspiring to hear from people who have been so highly successful in this digital art world.

In 2017-2018, I will be a Junior in the Graphic Design departments, marking my second year in the major, and third year in the university. Interior design is a profession that is undertaken academically just like other professional careers. It mainly involves the development and imparting of skills, knowledge and attitudes that pertains the activities undertaken in the building and construction industry. Emily joined us at the end of June 2016 as our Advisement & Registration and New Student Initiative Coordinator. Emily had the opportunity to shadow the outgoing A&R coordinator to meet campus partners and student advisors, observe how the program worked, learn our orientation process and system and get some hands-on, basic-level experience with our program. During the last 8 months, Emily has spent time meeting, building and collaborating with our campus partners and forging a personal connection with them. Emily is observing UMD campus-culture and learning about the history of SIT programs, and our campus partnerships, to help shape future direction of SIT programming.

I’ve always been interested in the field of medicine. When I was being born, I almost died, being saved only by the ingenuity of a Nurse Day for whom my middle name is dedicated to. Above all else, I want to have an impact on the quality of life for others, and I think the University of Pennsylvania is one of, if not the, best ways to do that. Its bioengineering department is consistently ranked to be the most rigorous in the field, and I can handle rigor.

Learn as if you were to live forever.” Receiving an education, in my opinion, is the foremost responsibility of every individual who walks this Earth. Education, however, has different meanings for different people. In some cultures, an education may include learning agrarian or farming techniques. In many other cultures, an education consists of attending primary school, secondary school and later attending college. No matter how the concept of education is prescribed in a given society, this fact remains true: everyone desires to have learned more when they leave this world than they did when they came in. I am writing to apply for graduate program at New York University to study Art Education to start a step to become an art teacher. I consider education as an essential guidance and instruction in assorted knowledge, skills, and history. Especially in art, there are many concepts, materials, and practices in relation to art history. The art history is still ongoing where fine art has made its transition to contemporary art. Based on the professional art education from my undergraduate program and the past work experiences in art environment, I find myself responsible to inspire and teach students different aspects that art retains. This passionate nature has led me to apply for masters program in Art Education. I believe that New York University will advise virtuous and exceptional curricula for me to gain professional attributes as an art educator.

My interest in interior design commenced in middle school during a project on various careers. Since then, it has become an ever-developing passion. Interior design has manifested itself into my daily thoughts. I constantly look at my surroundings, wondering what I could do to change the room into a more practical space. This fuels my thirst for further knowledge. The only way to gain this knowledge is to get a degree and learn through practical application. My educational and professional career objectives are to obtain a bachelor of fine arts in interior design and to succeed as a commercial interior designer.
