I am going to apply the interpersonal communication concepts into my life in many ways. First, the knowledge of the interpersonal communication principles and guidelines will help me to communicate more effectively. Since, we cannot not communicate, I will be careful when I get upset and try to ignore people. I realize now that my silence can be interpreted by others in negative ways. I am keeping in mind that communication is irreversible, so I will be monitoring it carefully to make sure I will not say anything that I may regret later. It is important to engage in dual perspective in order to understand other people’ points of view even though they are completely different from mine, but at the same time respect my own thoughts. Communication takes place in any and all locations, intentionally and unintentionally, and it can be positive or negative. Many of our personal traits and character qualities can affect how we communicate with other people, and how they communicate with us. When this assignment was given out, I instantly knew exactly what relationship I wanted to analyze: my ex-boyfriend’s and my relationship. It might sound like an odd relationship to choose, seeing as he is an ex, and it might not sound like a good starting point, but let me first say he is one of my best friends right now.

The fun thing about working as a cashier in a gift shop in General Ford Airport was that most of the people I talked to were travelers, and some carried interesting stories and jokes with them from other parts of the world.
