Is Gun Control Good Or Bad

Gun control is a very controversial topic that has has a huge impact on the United States of America. One side believes that if guns were taken away as a whole, the country would see significantly less gun related crimes and death, while the other opposing side thinks that taking away guns is not only against the Second Amendment but would lead to an increase in crime and death because the government would take guns away from people who are legally registered to own and conceal guns. The ongoing debate will continue until the foreseeable future but their are plenty of reasons why more gun laws should be made. Taking away guns is not the answer, learning how to deal with gun violence is the key.

Gun control laws would reduce gun deaths, but gun control laws do not determine crime gun owners determines crime. On the Pro side there were four hundred and sixty-four thousand thirty-three total gun deaths between 1999 to 2013. If we enforced the gun law more then it can drop the death rate with guns down since deaths with guns is the 12th leading cause of deaths. Children at the age of 15 or younger were more likely die from a gun accident then children in wealthy countries. If we did background checks on people when they buy ammunition purchases the deaths could reduce by eighty percent. As the saying goes “guns don’t kill people, people with guns kill people”. In 1980 to 2009 assault weapons bans have not affected murder rates at the state level. If people could just not get so mad and want to kill somebody for no reason, then we would not have to deal with this problem all the time. States with the largest increases in gun owners have the largest drops in violent crimes. Eighty four percent shooting victims have declined when the state passed the laws. When people have weapons on them it makes it much easier for a criminal to hurt them because it makes the criminals job much easier to harm you or threat you if the criminal sneaks up on you and gets your weapon then you are screwed then. I think that it kind of be both because if we have the law enforced then less people will die but on the other end what is the law going to do to people who will go against the law.

Gun control is a very complicated topic, there are two sides to the issue and many ongoing arguments between both sides. With the recent outbreak of school shootings this topic has only gotten touchier. Some people even believe the 2nd amendment should be repealed. This topic is commonly avoided but it must be discussed, between school shootings and terrorist attacks everyone is at risk. Gun control is a topic that affects everybody regardless of age, gender, or race.

Gun Control are laws that are put in place to regulate and promote gun safety. Isn't that just plain common sense? "But we are the only advanced country on Earth that sees this kind of mass violence erupt with this kind of frequency."(Obama) Gun Violence is a problem that sadly has been embedded into our culture. There are a lot of different opinions on gun control. Some people think we should have gun control and strongly support it. I for one am not one of those people. I strongly believe that gun control would not work. Guns are not weapons they are tools used to protect your self, it is not the fault of a good samaritan that an unlawful samaritan uses them in the wrong ways. Guns are not the problem it is the people that get a hold of them. A gun can not fire a bullet its self just like a car can not drive its self.

We as a country have been caught up lately in the idea that we need to take away people's guns in order to make people safer. Adolf Hitler once said, “To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens (Quotes About).” Do I really need to explain where history seems to be repeating here. What people do not seem to understand is that by trying to control guns, you are just making it easier for those who would mean to do harm to get away with it. This is especially true in states with really strict gun laws.

When there is a bombing, we blame the bomber. When there is a drunk driving accident we blame the drunk driver. Why when there is a shooting, do we blame the gun? Gun control does not stop criminals from obtaining guns; guns deter crime, but there should be some gun control such as universal background checks all federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) can use. That is why there should be some gun control but not much. Guns are weapons and like any weapons, there are certain restrictions you must follow but, for the most part, any weapon/tool is allowed. The issue of gun control has created a lot of controversy in America today and for many years. Those who support gun control feel that guns are the reason for the uprising crime rate in our country. I disagree with the supporters of gun control. I feel that because of the black market, violent criminals being released from prison early, and personal safety, stricter gun control will have very little impact on violent crime in America.
