The author points out the importance in family and how technology takes over family bounding time. The tomkey are described as a family who didn't watch television which seemed bizarre to him. Its also Ironic since the Tomkeys didn't believe in television but there lives seem to be a show to the author. The author has grow up with television so thats why he was amazed that the Tomkeys family would sit for dinner and have long conversations. It was a uncommon bonding for the author. Throughout time, humorists have been able to pull off a phenomenon, which allows for others to laugh about sensitive, stressful topics. With talent, humorists are able to captivate positive emotion from their audience and allow for society to see delicate issues in an unbiased view. Although humorists are commonly seen as people who only intend to entertain, humorists purposefully say things through their work that allow for hard issues to be spoken or illustrated.

Comedians uses various different techniques to make the world guffaw or even just chuckle. Author and Comedian Dave Barry wrote a low comedic wrote a novel titled Live Right and Find Happiness. The characters usually have a lot more to say and humour comes just from the dialogue instead of actions. However, in Friends, a couple of the characters are actually portrayed as being very childlike and the humour is much more slapstick and easy to understand because of this. Also the lines given to the characters are much shorter which means each character has something to say in one scene and some of the humour heavily relies on the actions of the characters as well. The feature of humor makes the topic more interesting and intriguing; in some cases, humor adds a spark to the issue creating the feeling that the issue can be looked upon with less negativity. There is a thin line between using humor and being disrespectful about a topic; a key aspect when using humor is to assure that you do not exceed or go too far with the humor. While the episodes of South Park are always humorous on the surface, each show usually has a deeper, much more profound meaning and moral. One episode of South Park entitled Manbearpig, named after the monster in the episode, has a particularly potent deeper meaning. On the surface, the episode pokes fun at monster stories, politics, and specifically Al Gore.
