Courage is defined as the power or the quality of dealing with or facing danger, fear, and pain. There is the courage of one’s convictions and the confidence to act in accordance with one’s beliefs. To take one’s courage in both hands, to nerve oneself to perform an action. There is the courage of mind, disposition, and spirit. Katniss should have been listed in the definition as well. She embodies the entire definition of courage. Courage is a strength of character that allows us the will to face our fears. In The Hunger Games, the unwilling heroine, Katniss, has fears that are physical, psychological, and existential. The aggressive presence of the threatening tribute Cato relates to her physical fear, her psychological fear of intimacy with Peeta, and the fear of her own death in the Games. Katniss uses her strength of courage to face all of these fears through the Hunger Games and beyond. …show more content…

Katniss is brilliant and resourceful, along with her physical strength, and her skill with the bow, these all allowed her to outsmart the other tributes. She has a lot of support throughout the Games – Haymitch and sponsors, the downtrodden District 12 cheering for her, and her fellow tributes that save her (Peeta, Rue, and Thresh). Katniss also has her stylist Cinna, who acts like a personal life coach. Cinna designed memorable dresses to help Katniss in the Games, but he also supports, encourages, reforms problems for her, and indicates his confidence in her. Cinna helps Katniss to see her strengths, and this is what motivates her to survive the Hunger
