Part One:
Consider what leadership or management style speaks most to you. Discuss that particular style, explain why it fits you better than others. Alternatively, consider the leadership or management style fits you least. Explain what is least desirable with that style from your perspective.
What leadership or management style speaks most to me? They are a few leadership styles that I venerate. The Transformational Leadership, the Visionary Leadership, and the Charismatic Leadership styles are the most evident to me. Each one has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, each is congruent with what I believe is necessary to craft the ideal leader and the combination is something I strive to emulate as I learn the nuances

• Encourages others.
• Provides support and recognition.
• Stirs the emotions of people.
• Gets people to look beyond their self-interest.
• Inspires people to reach for the improbable.
These qualities are fundamental qualities a leader must possess. These are just the building blocks of crafting the consummate leader. Undoubtedly, while sufficient, they are more qualities required.
What other qualities should a leader have? In addition to the eight qualities mentioned before, a leader needs a vision. Political sociologists Max Weber and James MacGregor Burns theorized that many leaders are visionaries. “These visionary leaders possess a driving sense of purpose and confidence in their ability to achieve their goals. They take the lead and inspire others to move forward.” This style is known as the Visionary Leadership style and is necessary in creating a complete leader. All of the great leaders of the world have a vision. From President John F. Kennedy to Dr. Martin Luther King, each had visions of something greater. Great leaders give real thought to the values that inspire them as well as to the people that follow. Ambition and persistence are invaluable to achieving a vision and are the first steps toward leadership success. On its own a vision does not always make for a great leader and this is why Visionary Leadership comes in second to Transformational Leadership. A great leader requires both styles. Adolf Hitler had a vision, as did Pol Pot
It takes a lot to be a leader. It takes experience, communication, positivity, passion, and much more to be an effective leader. Communication, positivity, and passion are the three most important characteristics to me. I represent all three of these with great pride. I communicate effectively whether it be in the classroom, on

If you are or want to be a good leader you need to be able to be a good communicator as you have to make commands quiet frequently and you need to be able to listen to other people ideas and thoughts to then take action with them. Most of the time as a leader you are faced with decisions that you are gonna have to make quickly and if you cant do that then you cant be efficient. Leader: “The most important quality of a leader is having a vision and the confidence to act on that vision. A leader must be able to make decisions quickly, have knowledge about the area he or she is working, communicate the plan to the team, and have an organized picture of what
What qualities make great leaders? Well, to be a good leader, you have to be a good follower. Leaders are the people who are able to think and act under stress. They are the people who others look upon for guidance, support, and safety. There five important traits: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. To be self-aware is to understand the affect and impression one has on others. This leads to self-regulation, taking responsibility for actions and deeds. Effective leaders use motivation to drive others to accomplish a task by showing charisma and boosting morale. Common interest and bonds form within a team creating empathy for one another. And lastly, social
5: A leader must posses the skills and assets to be able to lead his followers in the midst of arduous times. Some characteristics that I would expect to find in a great leader would be:
What are the most important qualities an effective leader should have? The willingness to listen others ideas and implement them with their own interpersonal skills. A leader must be willing to accept their own faults and learn from them. An active leader is willing to change their methods of leadership in order to grow as a person. A leader puts themselves on the same level as their followers because that way, people are able to share their own opinions without the fear of rejection. There is courage, as well as the resolution to move forward. Leaders have the characteristic that give the people around them the will to succeed. As a teacher, I understand that some people want to whole heartedly improve, and as an educator I must be willing to do everything I can to push that
To be a leader, one must have certain traits that contribute, in a good way, to their leadership. An example could be persistence. What is a leader without persistence, what would be the point of them doing anything at all? Bravery is another valuable trait to have. In order to be a leader, you must be brave enough to stand for what you believe in and what you want to change, even when the outcome may seem bleak. One more essential trait: motivation. A leader simply cannot be a leader if no one is motivated to follow them. An example of a leader who exhibits all three of these characteristics in a great way would be Martin Luther King Jr. He was an African-American man who lived in a segregated time and place. Quickly, King became a leader
Characteristics of a Successful Leader An effective leader has certain/basic yet important characteristic. The character of a leader is important in order to show how effective they are. A good leader sets the bar high and believes in excellence, motivation, and to be dedicated. In order to lead a good leader must have these qualities/ characteristics.
There are numerous characteristics of leadership, some of which include: confidence, initiative, good communication, responsibility, compassion, and being open to change; each of theses traits contribute to the quality of a leader and are important factors because without them inadequate decisions can be made (Satterwhite). Many feel that most “are born
From the grocery store to school, many people have the potential to be a leader, but it is hard to decide who would make a good leader. According to the article “Leadership ‘To Be List’” by Angela Maiers, there are four great qualities that make up a great leader: be teachable, kind, passionate, and confident.
What qualities make a good leader? You can ask a hundred different people, and you will get a hundred different answers. A good leader is someone who accomplishes the mission, has the respect of their subordinates, and makes the difficult decisions when needed. For me, I believe that a great leader needs to have a variety of qualities, but most importantly a sense of fairness, hard work/care, and common consideration for others. Different experiences throughout my life and time at West Point have lead me to believe that these three tenants are what are most needed for a great leader. In terms of a leader’s moral character, common consideration has the greatest influence on the success of a leader, because without common consideration, a
In terms of leadership styles a wide variety exists for one to employ (Boykins, 2013). There isn’t firm consensus as to which styles prove to be the most effective. Different situations call for different approaches. In the article, Empirical Study of Leadership Styles, it discusses several leadership styles that I can relate to.
From research we see that there are many qualities that people value in leaders. Some of these qualities include: having high standards, supportive, inquisitive, involved, honest and having integrity. When I think about leadership I think of a person who is self-aware and always striving for improvement. To be a good leader you need to know how your personal biases may impact decision making in various situations. Bias or values can effect how you interact with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. A good leader can set the tone for students, staff, and parents by being consistent and clear in thoughts and in actions. The leader is the foundation of the building.
