“To be honest, as this world goes, is to be one man picked out of ten thousand.” (Shakespeare, Hamlet). William Shakespeare who has not heard of him, and if you have not ever heard of him of his famous plays or poems them you live under a rock. Shakespeare is most known for Hamlet, and Romeo and Juliet. He wrote 154 sonnets, and has a lot of narrative poems. William’s work was away to tell us humans how we think and feel. Anything that someone reads from Shakespeare can see the meaning of what he is trying to say. Like “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” In this poem, he is express his feeling about love and uses nature to compare beauty. In his work, not everything is love and beauty, but also a sexual desire like “Th’ expense of spirit in a waste of shame.” Shakespeare wrote from different points of views, meaning, themes, and created an imagery as you read his work. Reading “My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun.” This poem is about a dark ugly woman, but with a meaning that we are all humans. In “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” is a poem that makes me think about a nice sunny day, along a sandy beach, and beautiful blue ocean. As you read the poem you can see that he is in love. Summer days are hot, but summer is gone too quickly. In line four of this poem it says, “And summer’s lease hath all too short a date” (Shakespeare). Reading this I think summer is only 3 months long out of the 12 months we have in the year. Imagery is very descriptive in

Romeo and Juliet, a devastatingly romantic story between two unconditional lovers. Even when Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet, their love was overpowering and could not be
Summer by Josiah Conder , is describe as an a completely opposite Summer than the one everyone is familiar with. When thinking of the summer, thoughts of heat, vacation, and fun are usually associated with it. Conder describes the Summer as being a miserable time, where the skies are gray and gloomy. The sonnet itself is English/Shakespearean model which makes it easier for Conder to express different ideas in each quatrain but still relate them. Also Conder was a poet during the Romantic era where any feeling could be expressed towards anything. And that is what Conder does when describing the Summer. In the poem the speaker is having a conversation with no one , while they describe the Summer. Conder uses diction, imagery, alliteration and metaphor to help convey the idea that the Summer is not as fun and appealing.
“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” (“Sonnet 18”) is one of Shakespeare’s most famous poems. It is the model English, or Shakespearean sonnet: it contains three quatrains and a finishing couplet.. The poem follows the traditional English sonnet form by having the octet introduce an idea or set up the poem, and the sestet beginning with a volta, or turn in perspective. In the octet of Sonnet 18, Shakespeare poses the question “Shall I compare the to a summer’s day” and basically begins to describe all the bad qualities of summer. He says it’s too windy, too short, too hot, and too cloudy. Eventually fall is going to come and take away all the beauty because of the changes nature brings. In the sestet, however, his tone changes as he begins to talk about his beloved’s “eternal summer” (Shakespeare line 9). This is where the turn takes place in the poem. Unlike the summer, their beauty will never fade. Not even death can stop their beauty for, according to Shakespeare, as long as people can read this poem, his lover’s beauty will continue to live. Shakespeare believes that his art is more powerful than any season and that in it beauty can be permanent.
William Shakespeare is widely known for all of his literary works; one of his most famous love tragedies being 'Romeo and Juliet'. A Shakespearean definition of tragedy exemplifies the sense that human beings are inevitably doomed through their own failures or errors, the ironic action of their virtues, or even through the nature of fate and destiny (Sayour, Susan, 2007). Romeo and Juliet is a tragic tale based on two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families. Throughout the play, Shakespeare intentionally draws on text structures and language features in order to replicate the attitudes, values and beliefs of Elizabethan audiences and intertwine it into his
William Shakespeare is one of the best known authors of all time, and of his many pieces, Hamlet is one that stands out. Written around the year 1600, it is a classic amongst Shakespeare’s tragedies due to its length and in depth character development, themes, and plot. One such example is seen in Act 2, Scene 2, from lines 593-617, where Hamlet is lamenting in his second soliloquy about many things. Through the use of imagery and comparisons, Shakespeare suggests that Hamlet is being self-deprecatory and self-critical in addition to a expressing violent regretful temperament about not being able to avenge his father’s death during his second soliloquy from lines 593-617.
I relate to this poem in so many ways especially because it relates so dearly to my life. It’s the idea that you have to wake up and be the best you, you can be in order to achieve your goals and succeed. The title is what intrigued me the most because it’s so ironic how the belief that you wake up smiling no matter what hardships you face will be how many people live their lives. Many of the feelings that arose within me were all due to personal experiences of my life because truly within this school year i've been truly unhappy however I never show it because I feel as if I need the positive attitude and mindset in order to get out of this stage in life and achieve my overall goal for my future. The idea of sadness and happiness play a big role within your life especially within the content of the poem in which the poem talks about how sadness won’t lead you into a successful life however happiness bring will bring you a better life. The reality of this poem can relate to the unfortunate event of Robin Williams suicide and the perception of him being happy however he was fighting his own battles of depression. The suicide of Robin Williams leads me to wonder how does the existence of depression and suicidality in comedians help reveal the meaning of the poem “ I Woke Up - Smiling “ by Ha Jin?

William Shakespeare made a habit of portraying how he understood human nature through his plays. He used his character’s actions to express what we as a society need to be happy and how men and women should interact in accordance with his beliefs. Throughout William Shakespeare’s marriage with Anne Hathaway, and they had a troublesome time. Maybe that is why many of Shakespeare’s works included love themes that deliver messages to the audience. When Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet, his actions were clear, to deliver a message and convey thoughts. The message that Shakespeare is trying to give his audience about the theme of the play is centered around the theme of blind hatred. He uses acrimony and illogical thoughts to deliver the message of not letting emotions rule your life.
Shakespeare is known for numerous literature achievements such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, MacBeth and so on. However, he is also known for his short but witty sonnets. While Shakespeare was known for more romantic stylistic poems and plays, his sonnets attack conventional notions in a number of ways. Shakespeare takes the ideas and attitudes of other sonnets and twists them into his own which goes against the habitual descriptions. Two sonnets, in particular, "Sonnet 130" and also "Sonnet 138", are examples of how he mocks and attacks the conventions of relationships, women 's beauty and also the conventionality of love in poetry itself.
Shakespeare writes most of the plays based on comedies, romance, tragedy and history. Even though all of his plays are nice, most of his tragedies is heart touching. His tragedy begins with love and romance and ends with sorrows. “In All’s well the heroine not only in plays

The imagery is powerful. Summer is personified as battling against time. Summer, in reality, is a time when life begins to die out as the colder months come in, so nature and the plants are in fragile condition. “Summer’s honey breath” reflects the flowers and plants so beautiful and transient in summer, the nature that keeps “Summer” alive. But the “wrackful siege of batt’ring days” comes to kill this beauty. The progression of the
