The feeling crept up on me, slowly, a suppressed whisper, a stifled scream. Hastening my steps I approach the scene, the stifled screams turn into a wail. I shudder. Then, all at once, it stops. The white wall of sound fades as I examine the scene. Crumbling stone, painted with layers of grime, haphazard mounds of trash, what a place to be killed. Uniforms litter the pathway, bagging, tagging, and searching. Searching for that one piece of evidence that will pin this guy down. Navigating further into the alley, I come to where the victim lies, her body resting amongst the carnage. A golden halo captures a youthful face, high cheekbones protruding from her creamy skin. Lipstick still staining her pale, lifeless lips. What once had been a true mark of beauty and youth, gone. …show more content…

With chocolate brown hair cascading down her back and hazel eyes, lit with intelligence. She was definitely a sight to see. Paired with her sharp mouth and quick wit, she is a force to be reckoned with. My partner of four years continued, "aged 29, she's a customer relations worker for a local cable company." "Someone was unsatisfied with their service", I sarcastically reply. Choosing to ignore my comment, Detective Parker continues, “A couple of tenant found her this morning. She lives over on Barker road, a couple of streets away, looks like she was on her way home.” Eyes closed, hands clasped, feet placed together, she looks almost peaceful... But there is nothing peaceful about her death. The angry red lacerations that decorate her neck, highlight her struggle. As I continue to gaze upon the victim, I can’t help shake this familiar feeling. “What have we got, Doc?” Detective Parker greets the tweedy medical examiner. With instantly recognisable white tuffs and weathered face, Doctor Clarke is still said to be the finest medical examiner in the department. "Cause of death is asphyxiation," Doc begins
