Macbeth's humanity throughout the play

Macbeth is a character in a play by Shakespeare with a tragic flaw. He had a quick rise to power and shortly after that a fall. Macbeth’s tragic downfall is a consequence of his vaulting ambition which is fueled by greed, fear and arrogance. Lady Macbeth and the three witches also have a major key in influencing his emotions. They manipulated the emotions he felt so he acted more rashly on them. Macbeth was a guy that could have been destined for greatness, but he made some bad decisions and that is what started his downfall. Macbeth possessed his ambition long before he was driven into tyranny. Before killing Duncan Macbeth was a great soldier and leader on the battlefield earning the title Thane of Cawdor honestly. He even saved Duncan’s son, Malcolm, from being captured by the enemy army.

The play “Macbeth” is a tragedy, because of Macbeth; the hero aspect in the play is brought to ruin. Although he is not an idealistic hero, he’s the main character and suffers great loss, even death; the witches had caused him to bring it upon himself, by misleading his blind ambition.

Once Macbeth was given more power his ego grew rapidly and everything just went downhill from there. From Lady Macbeth’s reckless loyalty to Duncan’s absolute trust, these tragic flaws deteriorate these characters to their furthest limits. This inevitably results in a great downfall: death. Throughout Macbeth, Shakespeare shows that Macbeth’s downfall is the result of his own tragic flaw: blind ambition. Macbeth has many flaws in character, most salient being his blind ambition.

The characters made bad mistakes and deeds that are never rectified. In this tragedy, there is a transformation in Macbeth’s character. Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths character, which is the only character within the play that has visible changes in his character. I will be describing these points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies, which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience in a privileged position as they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an insight to how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene.

Actually, the play Macbeth is one of the most famous works of English writer William Shakespeare. Macbeth play is considered for a tragedy because the main character will atone for his actions. Shakespeare showed here mature and profound vision of the evil. We can say, it is the play displaying perdition and disintegration of a human. In this, we see Shakespeare's art, to understand the complexity of human nature.

In most Shakespearian tragedies, the hero possesses a character trait which under normal circumstances would be a virtue, but which under the special circumstances of the play proves to be a fatal flaw. Macbeth consists of several situations where the hero portrays many such qualities that drive him to commit wrong actions. Macbeth’s desires convinced him to ignore the impact of his actions. In addition, his doubtfulness controlled his consciousness and finally his blindness affected his aptitude to seek reality. An analysis of Macbeth’s actions and behaviour reveals that Macbeth should be justified as a tragic hero validating the belief that he possesses several fatal flaws which eventually resulted in his downfall.

Macbeth doesn’t care anymore all he wants to power and will do anything to get it, to give an example kill friends, women and children. When, he kills Young Siward there is no mercy. Another example is when he talks about the death of his wife and says “She would have died later one day.”, he has lost all remorse and love through ambition (5.2.1). This just shows what excessive ambition can do to you and the surrounding people, if you even care anymore. Even in the darkest hours after his wife has died and everything he ever worked to accomplish is going to fail, Macbeth will cross any boundaries to get his way. Macbeth ends here with nothing left but the dishonor in his name. Leading to conclusion Macbeth’s ambition brought him to his doom.

In terms of Shakespeare’s work, a tragedy is defined as when main characters are put in to situations where the end result leads to infortune and failure. The central characters, such as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, were found to be unfortunate later on in the play, as they had reached a time of madness, guilt and later on death, as certain aspects such as ambition and the news of a prophecy brought them
