The pathway to equality for African Americans was a lengthy and laborious process that required dedication and hard work. March Book One and Two by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell describes John Lewis’ introduction to the inequality and his work during the Civil Rights Movement. The story is told by Lewis’ personal accounts and images, which provides an unique reading for the audience. March: Book One and Two depicts the process of how John Lewis’ starts to become aware of the actions against the African Americans and it follows with the protests he was involved in. For my second source I would use the short online work, “The Strategy”. This source would help me with my research paper because it talks about the strategy behind the protests. Readers first notice that this work is from a government site, which helps establish credibility and accountability. Also indicating accountability is citing the photos the source utilizes. When reading the work, the readers see that more information is provided on briefly touched topics, which gives the assertion that the site is knowledgeable in the subject. The book, Selma to Saigon: The Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War, helps my research paper, by providing information about how the protests became less diverse and the effects on the movement. This helps to indicate the importance of the strategies that were utilized during the Civil Rights Movement.
