There are different examples throughout the gospel of this. Discipleship is shown on Mark’s gospel when Jesus first calls his disciples to repent and believe. In chapter two verses twelve to seventeen Jesus calls sinners to repentance when he has supper with tax collectors. This calls the sinners to follow Him. The story explains how the Messiah, Jesus, was refused by Israel and finally sent the disciples to preach the gospel around the whole world. As Matthew wrote for his fellow Jews, he wrote his Gospel in the language Jesus spoke, Aramaic, which led early Church Fathers to believe Matthew’s was the first Gospel. On the other hand, the Gospel of Mark teaches that Jesus is the Son of God who assumed human nature. Mark wrote the gospel in Greek for a Gentile-Christian audience, which was undergoing persecution, perhaps in Rome. A central theme is that following Jesus often means that a Christian must suffer like Jesus did. The gospel of Mark is a short recollection of Jesus life, it has many details but is missing pieces or additions to his life. The Gospel of mark was said to have lost pieces, and also the first account of Jesus life. Although it is not as detailed in some areas as it is in others, it tells many accounts of Jesus life on earth and what kind of a person he was, the life he lived, his struggles and his ending.

The Messianic Secret- the Jews expected a “militant Messiah” and to accomplish Gods plan “Jesus keep his identity a secret” to make sure Gods plan was fully fulfilled. Gospel of the romans- Mark designed the gospel for a roman audience taking the time to explain Jewish culture. The passion- Mark pays a great amount of attention to the sacrifice of Christ.

Unlike the other gospels, Gospel of Mark is not written in a chronological order. It is also the shortest gospel consisting of only sixteen chapters. It is the gospel that guided other gospel in terms of the way gospels should be written. Some of the major points discussed in the gospels are the introduction of how Jesus was baptized. Mark shows that some people already of Jesus coming like John the Baptist. John was able to baptize Jesus with water. Jesus being Baptized with water is where god recognized him as his son. The story then goes to Jesus going on a forty day journey to be tested. The story of Jesus continues to Jesus traveling to Palestine where he started healing people and bringing back the dead. Mark of Gospel shows Jesus taking his role as the Messiah. Another point of Mark is the death of Jesus. This Gospel focuses mostly the resurrection of Jesus in order for Jesus to end all evil. The Gospel of Mark is all about the works of Jesus. His life, miracles, teachings, and parables are all compiled into one Gospel. We learn about Christ’s work and how that strengthens humanity and us. Understanding Mark’s Gospel leads us to the belief and trust in the “Kingdom of God”, this is his prominent message throughout the Gospel, teaching us that through His works we will gain salvation. We learn about this when Jesus says, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news” (Mark 1:15).

In this paper, I am writing about the Gospel of Mark. The Gospel of Mark is the shortest Gospel, but is a really cool one. It covers a lot of key events that happened during Jesus’ lifetime. After reading the chapters, we pointed out things that stood out to us, which we thought were strange or interesting. We also pointed out spiritual lessons that taught us about our faith. We also wrote down questions that we had about the material.

Like any other narrative, it is important to understand the historical and literary contexts surrounding the Gospel of Matthew, as well as the importance and significance of Matthew itself. As a Gospel, Matthew is here to present us with the narrative of Jesus Christ as our Messiah, as promised in the Old Testament Prophesy. While it is important to evaluate the extensive context surrounding the narrative of Matthew, the meaning behind the narrative can be found through relating it to the various events that are described in the other Gospels. By comparing the Gospels, it is easy to evaluate the underlying meaning and significance, within the context of the Gospels. Because the Gospels were written as narratives to provide us with information on the life and death of Jesus Christ, and all that happened in between, it is important to compare the different accounts described in the Gospels whenever possible. In doing so, it is possible to examine the Gospels within the appropriate context. Mark presents Jesus as a compassionate savior who through his acts of service and acts of suffering summons unbelievers to become disciples and so that believers would understand what it means to be committed followers of Jesus. In Mark's account of the Passion of Jesus Christ, Jesus dies alone.Jesus only speaks once from the cross stating "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?" and dies. Mark acknowledges that after Jesus' crucifixtion that people believed in Jesus being the true Messiah, "Truly this man was the Son of God!" (15:39).

For our first theoretical reflection we were assigned to read the gospel of Mark. Taking on this reading requires an opened mindset and concentration. Reading this passage was hard for me because when I am in church listening to the gospel readings, I do admit to lack interest. I read the gospel of Mark to myself first because it takes time for me to analyze and process the event that occurs in the reading. After reading the gospel to myself I listened to the audio reading. Listening to the audio version of the gospel helped me find a deeper meaning to the reading. This allowed me to be part of the reading as if I am there during that time.
