Looking back at my years in school and my educational teachings, I see them as stepping stones that led me to where I’m today. From grade school to high school, we were slowly taught the knowledge necessary to later transfer into a college level classroom. Then once in college, our courses would act as stepping stones leading us to our chosen career path. For me personally, that will be the medical field. Specifically in Neonatal/Pediatric Nursing. I’ve heard of nursing that have started off as Medical Assistants and worked their way up to a Registered Nurse mainly through experience and some educational training. But being an experienced with the same level of educational knowledge is something that could set you apart. Having that background …show more content…
With my educational background and gained experience in the field, I will have a greater knowledge about my career choice which ultimately will help me live up to my full potential. My desire to be successful in my field of medical is what drives me to attend college, and later grad school. Whether you are the bearer of bad news or good news, I believe you can make a lasting impression on someone’s heart. I want to be that person. If something misfortune has happened to a patient or a patient’s family, I want to be remembered as the caring and compassionate nurse. Someone that help to comfort them in their moment of grief or worry. If I have exciting and cheerful, the birth of a child for example I want to be remembered as the nurse that took care of the child …show more content…
Within my career, my main goal and objective is to help as many patients I’m capable of. I will be a speciality nurse in the field of pediatrics. Being able to care and nurture neonatal, growing infants, and walking toddlers is something I picture for my future. With my educational background I will apply that to informing patients on how to care for themselves and their growing baby. For instances, a patient named, Angela is an expecting mother coming in for her monthly check-ups. After running a routine blood test, it is discovered that her fetus is suffering from hemolytic disease. Hemolytic disease is a disease that occurs during fetal development when the mother lacks an antigen and begins to produce antibodies. Without the proper monitoring and prenatal care, these antibodies could potentially kill the baby. With my educational background I’m able to inform Angela because she is a first time mother and I know that is an exciting and nerve wrecking experience for any soon to be mother. As a nurse, I would inform Angela, “In your blood test we discovered that your fetus has a disease known as hemolytic disease. This is something that can occur when a mother lacks a specific antigen. What we’re going to do for you, is prescribe prenatal vitamins and monitor you very closely over the next few week.” I would remind Angela, “The best thing for you to do is take your medication and follow up with your doctor
The desire and passion and the strong interest I have for a profession in the care industry derives from my role as a care assistant, which I have enjoyed for the past nine years .The role has been challenging and extremely rewarding at the same time, I am genuinely a compassionate individual but my role has also taught me to be more patient and empathetic when assisting someone. Growing up I never thought that I would one day be so passionate about something in my life. I did not really think much about the future nor what I wanted to do with my life. From where I come from it is normal that after finishing school girls marry, have children and become housewives for the rest of their lives.
The medical field is one of the fastest occupations in the world. Medical Assistants and LPNs have different roles and responsibilities. You will get a better understanding about each occupation position in the medical field. Understand the difference between the two is not as difficult as it seems. The difference between the two is Medical Assistants handles basic clinical tasks. They are responsible for medical records, book-keeping, and answering call. Most Medical Assistants help Doctors examine and treat patients. They are responsible for drawing blood, and giving injections. Medical Assistants work in private offices and have clinical duties according to the state law. Medical Assistant can check temperature, height, and weight. They
Medicine the field that fulfills me and gives me the strength to continue my education and future goals despite the many obstacles. I am a third year and a certified medical assistant who is majoring in Spanish literature and human biology with aspirations to become a surgeon in the future. I found joy and self-satisfaction in helping others after having spent many years in the hospital taking care of my mother. From this experience, I decided to become a medical assistant and began working with an oncologist and cardiologist. Both these specialists taught me many life lessons and gave me the knowledge to help patients who were in delicate situations and those who simply needed someone that would listen to them.
My chosen profession is health information technology in the Kaplan University online course. I chose this as a career because I could use the skill later in the future to start a non-medical home care business agency as a long term goal after graduation. The objective of the Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology program is to prepare a person with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits to pursue an entry-level position in the health information management field. I also learnt that the curriculum is geared toward the ability to process, maintain, compile, and report health information data for patient care, reimbursement, facility planning, marketing, risk management, quality assessment, and research.
I have a strong interest to work in the medical environment and as can be gleaned from my resume I have successfully completed Medical administration and medical terminology qualifications to assist me in gaining a position in the medical environment. I hold the core values of Respect, Teamwork, Compassion, High Performance and Integrity of Queensland Health in high regard. I respect all people with whom I interact, and I have emotional intelligence which allows me to show empathy and compassion especially when dealing with the diverse range of people. I believe I would fulfil the responsibilities of the Administration Officer (Outpatients) to a very high level as I view the value and the code of conduct of an organisation within which I am employed to be a very important aspect of the role and I have always demonstrated a strong sense of empathy, integrity and commitment. I have excellent organisational skills that assist me in ensuring that all tasks allocated to me are prioritised to ensure I meet the goals of my manager and of the team.
Ann mother went through a problematic pregnancy with her because she had oligohydramnios, which is Low amniotic fluid. Her mother wasn’t developing enough fluids. She was informed by doctors that Ann might have some major disability problems, such as down- syndrome. She had to keep going to different doctors for checkups. When it was time for deliver, Ann mother had
In the future, I will strive to care for my patients as I would want someone to care for my family, and to never forget what drove me to become a nurse in the first place. I will be that person who will help others realize their strengths and capabilities. To me, nursing is a vocation that requires passion, integrity, and a natural drive to serving others. In or out of the hospital, I believe in showing everyone kindness. I plan on earning a bachelor’s in nursing then continuing on to attain a master’s degree and become a nurse practitioner, specializing in Neonatology or
As I approached my senior year of high school, I was lucky enough to be accepted in the Teen Volunteer program at Upstate Medical University. During this four week long program, I was able to shadow medical professionals and broaden my understanding of the medical field. I was given the unique ability to experience the field that I want to go into before entering secondary education. Before this opportunity, I had always known that I wanted to help people in my future career; however, volunteering at this hospital solidified my desire to make a difference in the world through my future in medicine.
Being only five years old with no ability to form complete words yet, Michael’s hums are his own language and create a way to understand him. This quiet world that Michael lives in intrigued me. Michaels mother, Kathrynne, would always remind me that I did not have to watch him if I felt he was “too mentally exhausting”. Michael was challenging at times, but he was not, “mentally exhausting”, he was mentally stimulating. I was constantly determined to figure him out and maintain his humming.
As a licensed nurse, I will be able to reach out to more of the population such as those who are underserved and those who have limited knowledge about their health. Nurses are the main caregivers in a hospital environment; they pass medications, ensure patient safety, provide care, ensure the patient is comfortable, and lastly, provide health education to the patient. My role as a caregiver will be incorporated into nursing by including empathy, trust, consistency, and communication in the care for my patients; these are just some of the qualities of a caregiver as well (Mark & Pearson, 2001). As a nurse, I must be able to understand my patients point of view, as I need to be able to look at the situation from their perspective. Another aspect of the nursing career is communication, I must be able to listen to my patients and interpret correctly.
In this program, I hope to gain more insight and experience into the medical field and what will eventually be expected of me. Through this program, I plan on learning about different types of medicine and the different ways doctors approach situations. I also hope to learn about the different reasons the mentors/doctors went into medicine. This program will impact my future plans and goals by allowing me to learn about different subjects and gain experience in the medical field.
If the results are positive for a genetic fetal anomaly, it will most likely be a devastating blow to the expecting parents so healthcare workers should take extra care to be empathetic. Parents will probably have many questions such as how did this happen? What are the chances of survival? Will the child live in pain? Are there any cures? Etc. The healthcare worker should attempt to answer these questions calmly and should provide the most accurate, unbiased, and comprehensive information that is possible about the anomaly. In addition, the healthcare worker should have already researched what support and services are available so the healthcare worker may provide the parents with as many resources as possible to assist them with future care,
The career I want to major in is nursing; I want to be a registered nurse for pediatrics. The reason why I chose this career is because I love kids and the fact that I will get to take care of them and help them get better is what I will love to do. Their health is what matters to me the most. The responsibilities of a registered nurse would be to record the patient’s medical histories and symptoms, prescribe medicine and treatments, observe the patient and record observations also they have to help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results. Caring for children and infants illnesses has to be a RNs number one concern.
My interest in the medical field stems from my love of the sciences and understanding how the body works. This began at a very young age because I grew up in a family where most of my relatives were in healthcare. I was fascinated by their work which only added to the desire to be in healthcare. My thirst for knowledge also drives my interest because healthcare professionals, such as physicians will be lifelong learners. I want to have a career that will challenge me and allow me to problem solve.
I had been met with a level of morning sickness I hadn’t experienced with my first son. Sure, I had had some trouble with my first pregnancy. That one was similar to climbing a really tall mountain, one where I could see the finish line in the distance. This time was more like running straight into a brick wall that I would have to scale over the next nine months or so. I was so sick that I lost 15 pounds in the early months of my pregnancy. My doctor had said that chances were this was just a normal pregnancy that carried with it a lot of challenges. My husband and I had asked on several occasions about the possibility of having a multiple pregnancy, but that was largely dismissed as a highly unlikely scenario. At one point when I was in the emergency room as a result of a particularly nasty wave of morning sickness, we asked if the doctors could check for a heartbeat to make sure the baby (or babies) was (or were) okay. The doctors checked and they said everything was fine, that we had a perfectly healthy
