“This social service delivery system was initially created for the mental health system in order to better meet the needs of children and families entering the social welfare system. As part of the development of this platform in one of their counties, they cataloged all of the social services resources in that area” (Widom, 2001).
A doctoral degree combining both supervisory professional mental health counseling skills and counselor education has always been at the forefront of both my personal and professional goals. Being afforded the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision will allow me the ability to enhance my professional competencies and achieve my set goals. My primary desire is to obtain a position as a college professor that will allow me to nurture the professional growth and maturity of future mental health professionals. Pursuing the doctoral degree will simultaneously assist in developing skillsets that will further prepare me for advanced opportunities in not only teaching but supervision and research. Additionally, I desire to devote time and research to small rural communities to establish prevention based programs that will bridge communities as it relates to mental health challenges. A PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University will afford me the opportunities to positively impact change in future professionals and the communities for which I serve.
Mental health is a complex phenomenon that consists of a range of diagnoses, treatments and outcomes. Recovery from such experiences has historically meant to completely remove all symptoms of illness, but is now currently thought of as regaining a sense of control over and development of a new meaning and purpose in one’s life, rather than feeling defined by the illness. Each individual understands it in their own personal way, likened to a journey towards self-determination, choice, and empowerment.
There are so many services offered in Mental Health America I could go on and on. These services provide help for just about any cause and have trained highly professionals to meet our needs.
I am a mental health counselor working towards licensure in the state of Washington. I have a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle. In my current counseling practice, I work with individual adults (over 18). I take a humanistic approach to therapy; in our sessions together, we will focus on the here-and-now of your experience, while also exploring your past and social context to the extent they are relevant to your present concerns. Our first meeting will be a time for you to tell your story; then, together, we will assess your concerns and issues, and decide on the goals toward which you would like to move (Hilton, 2016). As we continue through the therapy process, we

Evaluating the Consultation and Education Department funding at the Greenby Mental Health Center is the focus of this paper. The centers funding has been reduced. Additionally the reduction in funding will cause the organization to consider closing down their consultation and education department. First I will describe one process evaluation measure as well as one outcome evaluation measure, which could be an optional recommendation for the Greenby Community Mental Health Center. These measures will help to show the
People with mental health problems are a growing issue and must be addressed accordingly. When police officers are responding to a 911 call that involves a mentally ill person, the police officers that are responding must be trained on how to de-escalate the situation to protect everyone’s safety. The American Psychological Association (APA) suggests that police departments expand the number of officers with specialty mental health training in their department. (American Psychological Association, 2015). This is where the need for a mental health task force is shown.
Our clinicians trained professionals in the Mental Health field and have obtained a Masters degree level. Upon completion of the degree our qualified professionals have obtained licensure by following proper board required examination and hours of supervision. Our professionals in the associate level are also receiving proper supervision and consultation as required by the board in order to become fully license. Our intake coordinator works with providers and community partners in order to deliver a professional and timely processing of referrals made to our agency. The front desk receptionist makes sure that our clients feel welcomed into a safe environment and ensures proper processing of payments as well as directs questions and concerns appropriately. While Deepest Needs Counseling provides Outpatient therapy services, in an effort to provide the highest level of service; we partner with professional psychologists and psychiatrists in the area. Based on client’s needs, referrals for services are available in order to accommodate further evaluations and/or medication management
I am often looked at as an anomaly because of the adverse conditions I have faced with my parents. I have proven myself to be a very independent person, yet I am linked to their choices. I believe my unique family history and resilience will be an asset to the Mental Health Counseling program. As someone who has been
Federal and state agencies have established peers with lived experience as mental health providers over the last 25 years
For the last 4 years I have dedicated all of my energy to exploring the field of community mental health services. This has been something that I have been interested in all through my undergrad years at Merrimack College. While I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and had an internship in a center against domestic abuse in Lawrence, MA, I still did not have a clear picture of what the field entails. I believe that working in the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) since 2013, has given me the knowledge and technical experience to succeed within the field. I manage two roles at MSPCC, which are that of a therapeutic staff and support in in-home therapy cases, and the other as an outpatient intern.
The rapid escalation of youth and adults affected by mental health is becoming serious not just in Indiana but all over the United States. In the last several years national tragedies and mass killings such as Sandy Hook has placed our government in the position of reexamining and improving access to mental health treatment. Although the government sees a great need for changing it 's unhurried I have witnessed mental health patients unable to get medication and have limited access to mental health care due to lack of insurance or other barriers. Mental health comes in many different faces some are being treated others are undiagnosed. The current economic crisis and environmental violence has created a fracture within our community as we witness to an increase in murders among youth we need to implement a change for our community in both mental and social services there is a great need for committed individuals that are not in it for the money but who are in this field because they care. This problem resonates deeply with me, I want to continue to grow in this field that I 've been working in since I was twenty-one years old to assist with being part of the solution to our growing crisis. It is for this reason that I am applying to the graduate program in social work at IUPUI. I seek the skills and knowledge needed to get me to the next level of helping our community heal.
The targeted demographic for this evocative production encompasses individuals who have previously or are currently suffering from depression. As a result, the aims of this artwork fabrication are to represent the ideological concepts that having depression is not a task which can be overcome as a single individual. Correspondingly, this creates a link between the sociological concepts of stigmatization and institutionalisation whilst encompassing mental health. Congruently, the visual representation is designed to capture the lived experience of individuals which have gone through the dark, chained and cloudy corrosion of their minds, labelled depression.
Physical Health involves getting adequate sleep and rest, eating nutritious meals, drinking enough water, and being physically active on a regular basis. I put a bed on my poster to represent that I get enough rest every night so that I can be refreshed in the morning. I make my bed comfortable and only use it for sleeping purposes so that I do not become distracted with other things that keep me awake, like the television. I put fries on my poster because fries are my favorite food. Though fries make me happy, they are bad for my physical health because they are greasy, fried, and fattening. The last picture I chose would be an apple. I am not a very healthy eater but if theres one thing I love that is good for me, it would be an apple. Ever since I was
