Middle school is a weird time for everyone I am pretty sure. The three-year time period is filled with hormones, drama, and stinky boys who have yet to learn the wonders of deodorant. You find friends, lose friends, everyone begins to get their first phones, you start “dating”, and you gain a whole new taste of freedom that you never had before that first day. All is which to be expected, but the one thing you can not prepare an 11-year-old girl, who has lived in a tight perfect bubble her whole life, for is the death of someone close to you, someone you have looked up to for over half of your short life.
I have never been a person who favors change, I have had the same haircut, same bed spread, same house, and same style my whole life. So leaving the safety of my familiar elementary school and heading to the big bad middle school was incredibly difficult for me. I was a week into the school year when my best friend of five years, Avery, stopped showing up. I knew it had something to do with her mom. Avery’s mom, Laurn, had a rare type of cancer that I could never quite remember the name of. But for five years I watched her battle the extremely aggressive cancer. Avery and I did

But in reality, it's never their fault, It is your own, you're the only thing/person in this world holding you back. There is nothing in your way of success besides a small amount of hard work and a positive attitude. You can do anything in this world with the correct mindset. My change of heart and mind had saved my life and I hope no one else has to go through such a terrible battle with themselves like I had. I almost killed myself because I was so dang stubborn and didn't want to get better. I had been my own enemy. I had saved myself in the end, but I had also been the one with the knife to my throat the whole
Have we as a community done all we can for our youth, more specifically our high school kids? Have we tried everything we possibly can? It seems like the community as a whole have done what we can for our toddlers, our elementary, junior high, and even for those who find themselves in jail. But what about high school kids? There is limited if any at all programs to help adolescents find their way to adulthood. What if we think outside of the box and try something new? Using deprived dogs that don’t have a home; to help save our troubled adolescences, that way we can teach them responsibility, compassion and social skills. While at the same time finding the unwanted dogs a forever home.
Hello, my name is Susan Stewart. I am a member of the Wheatland High School Grad Night Committee. The committee is comprised of Volunteers who plan and facilitate the Safe and Sober Grad Night event for Wheatland High School graduates. Committee members are meeting with local community businesses and leaders like yourself, to ask if they would be interested in supporting an event aimed at keeping our local teens safe on such a celebratory night.
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
“Ms.rosa, this is the eighth time your brother has gotten into a fight with mason and I just need to say that this can not be tolerated! Every fight, he has flipped tables, thrown chair and broken windows, the only thing is that your brother has not explained what exactly happened.”
Time flies in the blink of an eye and going into freshman year most of the class of 2018 can agree that’s exactly what time did. Freshman year is when the excitement arrives. We wonder what our highschool experiences are going to be and start becoming shaped into young adults. Sophomore year we get into the flow of high school, we have a group of people we associate with and are pretty comfortable. Everything seems normal and we aren’t too anxious to leave our safe bubble.
As you grow up, you really try to impress everyone around you. High school is pretty much the 4 years of Hell where you do your best to put up a front. I tried it, but near the end, I pretty much stopped caring what people thought because I realized that I don't really care. It was in that situation where I had an older brother who was really popular. Since I started hanging out with all of his friends instead of with people in my grade, I skipped a lot of stuff that I should've experienced.
High school is a place normally portrayed in movies as either a hard, or easy place to survive. I went to high school in a small school outside of Salina Kansas, it was a fairly easy school but there were some tricks to getting by in high school.
It’s difficult to imagine what your first time doing something will be like. You’ll hear many different stories about it and it’s still difficult to know what to expect. High school is one of the biggest concerns for teens now days. The night before, the anxiety of the next day may keep you awake for hours. Since you worry about it so much, you may not get the necessary sleep for the oncoming school day. I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. that night and couldn’t fall asleep until approximately 12:00 a.m. It was nerve-wracking to think that I may not fall asleep and would then be expected to wake up at 5:40 a.m. Although, when you think about it, high school follows the same concept as middle school. The only notable difference is the number of students
I just got into it with my not-brother because his two-year old child was running around with food. Food on which she could have choked. I said something similar to "she could choke on that while she's running, so either take it away from her or have her sit down". He did neither, so I went to take it from her hand and he hit my wrist. He stood up and starting yelling and cursing, like I can't even explain how loud he was. I got behind one of the gates that prevent children from entering certain parts of the house and he said you think I can't get to you behind that gate. At that point I would've dialled 911 if Siri had heard me the first time. It resulted in my mom, wrapped in a bath towel, coming out of her bathroom to suppress the situation.
High school is a big jump from middle school. With faster- paced work, more homework, and more tests. You also need to increase your habits by studying harder and longer, time management, and finally manage your extracurricular activities, like sports. High school is a big step from middle school there are new teachers, new students, and most of all new friends. There is no time for mistakes or to forget something for that will lead to a deduction of points. Teachers aren’t as flexible as in middle school, so you have to stay on top of your work.
Have you ever wondered who has taught you the most in your life? Possibly you have someone you’re related to, or a good friend, or just someone you look up to that has taught you some important rules of life? Everyone has ups and downs in their life and needs someone to boost them back up. As teenagers go through high school they begin to really find out who they are. What comes to mind when you think of your high school career? Do you remember your class schedule and everything your teachers taught you, or do you remember the amounts of stress put on you having to get all your assignments done on time and the battles of rumors that high school teenagers deal with? You probably learned more from all of that stress put on you to get your work
*C. Motivation*: What if the person waiting on the list needing an organ transplant was someone you loved? Imagine if you had a brother or sister who had unexpectedly died and you were able to meet the person who received their heart, for example. Think of the satisfaction and possible comfort knowing that your brother or sister provided life for somebody else.
I see more than a hundred-people staring up at me. I am standing on the enormous wooden stage behind my podium looking right back. I am looking at the audience, the judges, my teammates, my ten pages of notes on my podium, and I am looking at my opponent whom I was about to debate. I was standing up without any fear, but with determination and courage ready to eloquently express my side of the debate and present my points to everyone as insightfully as I could, and I did! A few years ago, this would never have been the case. Back then, I would have written my argument with very little detail, spoken with no conviction, and would have been shaking uncontrollably with nervousness, but not anymore. Joining debate team in high school significantly improved my communication skills by infusing passion, detail, and preparation into my writing and speaking.
Life is a beautiful thing. However, it is not always easy. There will be difficulties and challenges along the way. There is no human being on earth who has not encounter struggles, suffering, or failure in life. Sometimes the challenges we experience can be the pathway to self realization. A wake up call that alter our own perspectives and outlook in life. These hardships test the courage, perseverance and true character of a human being. In the ted talk I have watched titled “3 things I learned as my plane crashed”, I am amazed by how brave the speaker was in facing life again. Ric Elias, speaker of the ted talk video, and a front row seater of flight 1549 had survived a plane crashed. Despite that, he still views life in a positive way and uses this unforgettable experience as a motivation to become a better person. He shared his experience in order to to enlighten the audience’s mind and persuade them to live life meaningfully and with a purpose.
In this essay I will tell you how to make fire, food, water, shelter. When you are done reading this I hope you will know how to do these things in the wild with nothing but yourself.
