Since I was a young girl, learning was something necessary to do in order to mature into my own self. It's something us as humans do to evolve from our younger selves. From learning to talk, walk ,and read we learn many things throughout our lifetime to be the person we are today. Learning is the key to life. Learning makes us progress. Riding a bicycle was a learning experience that I might never forget it. Learning to ride a bicycle is not as easy as it sounds. I was around the age of ten when my mother and I decided it was time for me to get rid of those silly training wheels. Frightened as I was I had not considered the disadvantages of this experience. I have seen kids learn to ride bicycles for the first time and they always ended up with cuts and bruises. After breaking down the advantages and disadvantages, I realized it was going to have to happen one way or another so my mother collected the materials in order to proceed. First of all we chose a safe location. The street besides my house was perfect it was a dead end. My mother took the tools and tossed out those training wheels off my bike. I had put on the helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads. It was time to start and I was petrified. My mother then lifted me up and placed me on my bicycle as she held me from the back of the seat. I felt a hard push and startled ,and felt as if the entire world was about to collapse on my chest. All I could do was pedal, but my mind could not think as quick as I anticipated. As a
When we were ready our Dad thought us by using training wheels first and then he showed us how to pedal and where the brakes were, but when we rode in training wheels for an hour he took them off and we were afraid of falling and we were also very eager but nervous of falling. When we were ready our Dad just told us to look forward and pedal so we pedaled as fast as we could but we always fell and bleed from our arms and legs. Every time we fell we could taste the blood in our mouth for hitting it too much. Everything felt dusty because of all the dirt. We saw blood on our legs and arms and it was slowly dripping down. We heard our screams of pain and, we smelled all the flowers in the grass when we fell in the grass. It was really painful but it was going to be so easy when we could do it better but it had to be longer till we completely learned how to ride a bike. We kept trying everyday but it took us 6 days to learn because the park we practiced in had so many holes so when we rode our bike it was really hard to ride because of all the holes.
In Conclusion, learning is something that you can grow from figuring out what strategies work for you whether is be from writing it down to seeing in the form picture and model. Learning is something where you do what is best for you and your difficulties and what can help you overcome your difficulties in any class that you have and once you find what works for you, you will be able to do your best and achieve what you
So we got out my pads and my bike. I put the pads on by pulling them up my legs to my knees, pulling the pads to my elbows on my arms, and clipping the helmet together. My dad took off the training wheels with his tools, so I could start practicing. I was thinking and then realized, that I would finally be able to ride with my friends and family without training wheels.
I feel like to me learning goes beyond being in a classroom. For example, in life, I take the lessons that were given to me and learn valuable lesson that I was supposed to learn. In essence, everything is a learning experience for me that I come in contact with or encounter.
To learn means to have knowledge acquired through experience, study, or being taught something. Every person gets taught different thing in different ways throughout their life to help them in the long run, but every individual is also responsible for understanding things through different experiences. For example, people launch thousands of dollars into an investment for something; taking a big risk in trying this new thing hoping it pays off. Another example, is when people try out for things like ‘American Idol’ out of doing it for the experience ,and hope to learn something new. Without trying new things it would be hard for people to have growth in their life and become wise. New experiences happen multiple times every year, and help people learn new things. Every individual is responsible for his/her own education.
I’ve always been an overly cautious, nervous person in every aspect of my life. I’m choosy with my friends, I’m a picky eater, and I will not do anything that could be dangerous. Even when I was a little girl, this was the case. So, learning how to ride a bike was an extremely difficult task for someone like me. My father made it his mission to be the one to teach me and considering it took days for me to get on the bike with training wheels years before, he knew teaching me how to properly ride a bike was going to be a challenge also.
I was scared. I would have rather been on my two feet, than riding on the two wheels beneath me. Alongside me my brother held me up and pushed the bike and the boy along. He was all the training wheels I had and all the training too. The rusty maroon sixteen inch bike soon carried me over the field lanes of my parents' dairy farm without any assistance. Games of cops and robbers quickly followed, instead of using the brakes normally I dragged my feet on the ground. I soon joined my brothers in bike races and pop-a-wheely contests. This was my first experience driving, if you will allow me to call it that.
My older brother Colin showed my how to drive the bike, and how to slow down and speed up. I was ready to jump on and ride. My first ride I concentrated carefully and just went slow taking it easy. I saw my parents and grandparents cheering for me. They were
Every human being has been bound to learn something since the day they were born. Learning something new is important because you expand yourself in knowledge and reassuring something you have learned before is also important so you won’t make the same mistake again.
New things to me always scared me away, and riding a bike was no exception at all. After I changed into my brother’s old racing clothes, I went outside to get on my bike. I was struggling to sit on the seat of the bike and keep it balanced. After, I finally got adjusted comfortably my father came over and handed me a helmet. He helped me get to the end of our bumpy driveway.
The first time i rode a bike was in 2012. I was in 2nd grade at that time and my other friends did not need training wheels. My dad taught me. It was spring and there were barely any clouds in the sky. My dad took the training wheels off and I sat down. At first I went slowly. My dad held onto the back while I practiced pedaling. We practiced this for several hours and when it was getting dark we went inside. The next day I practiced pedaling again. But, my dad had let go and I did not even notice! By the time that I realized, he had caught up to me and I did not fall. The next time that he did that, I lost balance and I fell. I started crying and my dad told me not to give up.
My overall experience from Pre- K to high school was good. Although experience with school did not start off on a good foot. I hated school as a child. Anytime my mom would drop me off to school, I would cry for an hour. In fact, I did not stop crying when my mom would leave me at school until I reached the second grade. School always made me feel anxious, no matter how many friends I made nor how many teachers I liked. Although the anxiety has not gone away, I have learned how to deal with it.
During my early years of life, I absolutely loved learning new things. I would wonder around the house and garage and look for items that were interesting. I was a very tactile child, in which I needed to touch and feel objects and items in order to learn about them. My parents and grandparents taught me to count at a young age using money and household items. For example, every morning, I went to McDonalds with my grandfather, and I purchased a cappuccino to take home for my grandmother. The overall cost of the coffee would be 95 cents, and I would receive a nickel in change. When we left McDonalds, my grandfather would give me the nickel as long as I saved the nickels and counted them in the pickup truck. At a young age, I had already learned the alphabet and numbers. My absolute favorite learning activity and form of play as a young child included spending time with my grandfather on the new land, in which I “helped” build the house. I followed him around, played on the dirt pile, and was interested in the tools he would use to build cars and furniture.
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted anymore.
My Adventure to Foushee's Mill began on Saturday November 5th, 2017. I had three classmates with me, their names were Hope, Joel, and Casey. We have been told to go to Foushee's Mill by our Focused Inquiry professor, the week before, to take in what we experience. This was a definitely a new experience for me being only a Freshman in college, and changed how I saw my three classmates. This is what experienced personally on this adventure:
