How are students supposed to enjoy their senior year when there is a dark cloud called the future hovering over them at all times? Accordingly, during the college decision process, it is essential to take one step at a time. Students that are not set on what career they want to pursue can focus on what they are confident about instead: their talents. The journey in finding the right college can be stressful. In the College Preparation English IV class, there have been several discussions on the pressure that comes with choosing a higher education program and have looked at many different texts on the subject of uncertainty.

Transcendentalism is an idea shared by many famous 19th century authors. Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Jon Krakauer, and Michael Donovan all believe in the idea of transcendentalism and it is shown in many of their literary works. Many of the authors show a nonconformist character in their story or poem. Some of them portray themselves as the nonconformist. Nonconformists believe that you should find and be yourself. They also believe that you should never change yourself to fit in with the world or society.

In our generation it is really hard to be transcendental, because of all the technology that is evolving around us. I'm going to be honest, I don't appreciate nature as much as I should. I’m so caught up on needing to know what my friends on doing so I always check my social media. Either that or I’m on Netflix watching my two favorite t.v. shows, Glee and Friends. I would really want to be more transcendental because it seems like a less stressful place to be in. Being transcendental is being independent, which is something that I really need to work on. For a long time, I was always depending on my sisters or parents to do things for me. As I’m growing older, I’m noticing how time is passing by and I’m not noticing the little things that

Figuring out what you 're going to do for a career is one of the most difficult and stressful things you can do in your early years of life. It 's a decision that some people sometimes regret or are unable to make in the first place. I think what made my decision of wanting to own my own business such an easy one was that it wasn 't something I had to choose on my own, I had God with me inspiring and guiding me the entire way.

Confused, petrified, and slightly excited were the emotions that ran through my body during this brief time in my life. Thinking back on the moments in life that assisted in me choosing my career path brings up many mixed emotions. The moment I chose the career path I wanted to go on is my first year at Dunbar Middle Magnet School, sixth grade to be exact. It was the first week of school and all the students in my class had to stand up and introduce ourselves and tell what we wanted to be in life. At that time in life, the option of being a princess was over and I had to begin to brainstorm what career will best suit me in life. My sixth grade English teacher gave everyone a set time to work on an “I want to become a…” project. She gave us two weeks to finish the project and within those two weeks my life would begin to change for the better. Although I was slightly in a state of confusion, I was more enthusiastic about this upcoming project. Also, there will be a very drastic life changing experience that happened to me that assisted in me choosing the career path I wanted to pursue.

In my personal opinion all person have their individuality to generate crucial decisions, simultaneously, each person should decide for their own future. I remember that my mother decides to study art and in this pretty moment, she is working on an education area. In my personal case, I become a nutritionist and I am working for community and society. In my own consider from time to time, fathers made the decision for their son’s university career without thinking of their feelings.

For example, every week, I plan my time around my family, social life and studies; I monitor my goals; identify missed targets; meet deadlines and submit my coursework quicker than expected. In addition, the skills has guided me to look internally and externally to find out what I am best at (hardworking, diligent, open-minded) and terrible at (socializing, reading long passages, seeking people’s approval) which I am making efforts to work on and eliminate if possible, so as to have new opportunities and identify my life, career direction, and

I’m still early in my career life but I have not faced any of these obstacles yet. I started to performed career exploration in high school by reviewing different career paths, listening to those who were in the field, perform intensive research on each career path’s lifestyle and requirements in order to make the best decision. Now, that I’m in college, I’m really pleased that I made the correct preparations early in my life so that I can focus on my career stronger. I was able to overcome the obstacles before I even got to the obstacle by studying and performing career exploration early in my life. At this point in my life, I haven’t “look back” on my decision, so I must have done something right in my career

A career self-assessment is important because it will help people find occupations that match their skills and talents. It creates an atmosphere in which people will like what they’re doing in life. Their work is more than just a job. A career sums up a person’s life based on their past, present, and their future (Lucas, 2012).

This is very important for practical purposes. You need to do a practical research for the career you’re considering. Jot down all the necessary information, like if you’re going to pursue a career how much money and time will it cost you, so, you can figure out right away which from all of your passion choices is more attainable.

While assessments can be very useful, valid data is also derived by simply reflecting on your past experiences and performance. As you deconstruct past accomplishments, pay particular attention to clues regarding your interests, values, strengths and skills. This information will be helpful later, in forming your career decisions and planning. Focus on interests not only where you excel, but also that you enjoy! By identifying careers whose demands and requirements map directly to your core interests, you increase the likelihood of enjoying your work and being motivated to do it well.

With the very foundation of choosing their careers beginning with college. Our very lives depends on what steps we choose to take during our early year of a college education. "Market pressures that student exert through their power to choose which institution to attend" (Bok 344). With such a vital task laid upon universities , it's up to the universities to provide the proper resource and tools to develop robust learners and open mind thinkers.

After going over this reading from Barry Schwartz, I had a realization and a few connections to make about this topic. I got the realization that the more freedom and the more choices that universities offers you, even if it’s in everyone’s best interests, the more difficulty and stress it can truly cause. “Now, students are required to make many choices about education that will affect them for the rest of their lives,” (Schwartz pg. 724), Schwartz is right, I have to make tough long lasting decisions while attending a university. Not just with choosing a major but also deciding how I’m going to go about pursuing my major and then putting in my time and effort during the process of reaching my academic goals. The way
