Throughout this summer course, I have acquired many new skills that will be useful in the future. Reading class has helped me to become a college freshmen at Central Connecticut State University this fall. It was an important opportunity for me in a variety of ways in gaining and sharpening skills in writing and reading. It was a great learning experience for me. Especially, that I did not like to read or write before, but after I had this class, it teaches me the skills of reading, writing, and how to study for quizzes, tests, and do projects. I had learned so many new things about writing and reading in general and my own style. I gained skills that I use in my writings now that make my work better. Learning how manage my time was my favorite chapter in the whole course, because before I was so missy and not organized and I could not know when and how to do my work. It was hard for me to finish something in certain time but by learning how to manage my time, I became more organized and I have a calendar that I keep all the important things that I have to manage and do it in time, like putting the date, the day and everything. I believe this will help me a lot in the future …show more content…
I did never like to read because I do not chose the right book or the right thing I like. I did not have the option to organize my thoughts or even know what I want to do. But this class, I gained a lot from. In the beginning I thought reading class will be only reading books and it will be boring, because I do not like reading. But after I came to the class and I had the opportunity to know all the material that we will cover in that class, I was excited and I said to myself that I will improve myself a lot here and I will learn so much. By ending the course, I found out that I was right and I did gain a lot like too much and learned more than I thought I would
This English Composition II class has educated me so much on how to write better, write in different formats, schedule my time better, and how to improve my writing. Learning more about all of these categories will help me in the future when I need to write other essays for future college classes that I will have. I am very happy that I took this class when I did, because of it I am more prepared for college this fall. I just hope my future professors are as funny and kind as Mr. Stout has been towards
Over the past four months, I have made great strides as a writer. The area where I have seen the most growth is in my use of the writing process. Prior to my enrollment in this course, I would sit down and write all my papers in one sitting. This class has taught me how to lay out a plan for my papers. I have learned how to effectively brainstorm/research, draft, and revise my writings before I complete them. Also I have learned to not just stop there, instead I am now going back and reflecting on my work after I complete it. This allows me to identify where I prospered and also where my downfalls may have been. With this information, I am able to apply this to future writings of mine; lessons that will stay with me forever.
Throughout the course of freshmen year I have developed different skills and opinions on writing. I feel I have created a more mature style of writing and a better understanding of literature. I have changed my view of writing over this semester and acquired a strong liking for it. The importance of writing has become more visible throughout the past few months. Writing is crucial in many aspects of a person’s life. I have grown to be a more powerful and well built writer throughout this course.
The assignments in this class have shown me that I’m a better writer than I initially thought. The assignments have where I have improved, areas where I still need to improve, and how skills developed here can transfer into other courses.
The most interesting aspect I discovered about my writing this semester is my ability to read, appreciate, and interpret a piece of literature and write analytically about it. In this course I’ve grown to change my reading process completely. I had a tendency to read
As this semester comes to a close, I have become to realize how much I’ve grown as a writer. After taking this class, I have noticed that I have gained more and more of a voice in my writing. When faced with having to write about subjective topics, I have learned how to voice my opinions in papers in order to make them more effective. My writing has greatly evolved because of this class. Not only has it shown me I have to work on sentence variety, but it has also allowed me to work on word choice which is something I have always struggled with throughout my high school career. Struggling with how to put things into words as exactly how I see them has been a struggle for me throughout this course. Despite how much I’ve grown as writer, I have
The ability to produce a good paper is one that comes with time. It is a meticulous process involving many elements, each requiring a great amount of attention. Although good writing takes a lot of effort, completing a great piece can be very satisfactory. The skill of good writing can be carried over throughout your entire life, making it a very valuable ability to acquire.
As a general rule, I do not like to write. The course that goes along with writing is exciting, but I am not a fan of putting the study together to make it flow. I have come to realize, however, that writing and college go hand in hand, especially in ENG 61. During this class, I was required to write term paper and blog numerous times, both of which are
When I enrolled in this class, I was sure that it will influence the way I write and read. I have a relatively large experience with academic writing and reading; still, I would have benefited even from slight improvements in my approach, methods, and techniques I use for writing and reading assignments. Because of this class my reading, writing, and thinking processes became more efficient.
During this class, I developed in my rhetorical knowledge. I am now more capable of analyzing texts, understanding of audiences, purposes and contexts. I also have more variety in my writings. I learned how to use different words in context and how to formulate a better sentence. I developed my own ideas and opinions through writing about an outgoing conversation. I now understand how to analyze the writing of others, noting focus, arrangement, logical development, vocabulary, and style. I also developed the ability to use various sentence patterns and to edit for correctness, variety, and correct usage. We did this especially while we proofread our own and others drafts.
Since I can remember I have always loved to write. When I first took college composition I it was so fun and I loved everything I learned in that class. It was so long ago so I don’t really remember everything that I learned but for the most part, I remember being able to pick a topic and write about that one topic throughout the semester. There are three aspects of my writing that I would like to improve which are tone, grammar, and style. I always write in the sarcastic tone. I would love to learn how to write in a different tone such as disapproving, critical, pleading, humorous etc. I would struggle with grammar because I'm always the type of person to do things fast. I would free write and I would write so fast that sometimes I do mistakenly
This semester has proven to be challenging and time consuming, but upon completion it was worth it. Throughout this diminutive semester I have gained a vast deal of knowledge in literature. The topics I have explored this semester introduced me to new information and concepts. Writing a paper can be deemed as a personal challenge, writing is more than mindless thoughts tossed around on a piece of paper. It is a personality of its own, writing is its own art and it truly introduces creative thought. Writing is truly a gift, and will only continue to develop.
A reader is said to live thousands of lives before they die; a writer is the creator of those countless lives. As a result of taking the English 1A course, I have been given the opportunity to captivate my readers through learning the proper writing process. With every year of growth, students are expected to enhance their writing abilities and captivate their audiences while staying true to a prompt and a writing style. English 1A has helped me develop the essential skills I need to be a well-rounded writer. I know there is a great deal of knowledge left for me to learn, but this class has given me the basis for great development and growth.
It is strange to think that my first semester of college is almost complete. It seems like just yesterday that I was introducing myself to the new classmate. And this writing assignment has give me a good opportunities to reflect on this past year of composition in English 105 class. I have to admit I have grown a substantial amount as a writer by participation in this class. However, upon my completion of this semester I have not only gained many friendship, knowledge, and learned different writing techniques. Although I have many writing area still needs to improve, I have learned variety of things by participation in this class.
It is my belief that through this class and the tools provided, that my growth as a writer has grown through leaps and bounds I would never have assumed possible. It is not so much the skill I refer to, although I would think skill has gone up in some levels as well, but more so the appreciation for the craft of writing itself. Intially, at the start of this class my sole goal was to further my understanding and appreciation of the writer's and books that I so love to read. Through further evaluation within the first week, a few other goals came to mind, of which were, making writing a habit, finishing what I start, stop second guess my writing skills and making effective use of detail and description. Through the use of the many articles, various reading materials, whether poems or short stories, and especially through the workshop, I feel I was able to really push myself to accomplishing these goals. I have thus far learned how important it is not to be skilled at writing per say, but to have the will to write, that poetry is as much about it's sound as it is about it's subject, just how important character development is, how the narration and point of view of a story is essential to the way the story is told, and just how much of a difference peer's critiques can make to your writing.
