I believe that my writing has improved, because now I have direction to start to write as prewriting, clustering, summarizing and making list and my ideas come out easily. However some topic can be harder that other for that reason you have to apply all the grammar rules. Furthermore I learned that the peer review is helpful to enlarge the ideas, because is based in other opinion before the reader sees it. In the past I didn’t like write much but now that I have the rules how write and how easy can be I enjoy write and the same time improve my grammar and my vocabulary expands. Therefore the oral presentation can be more fluent and I can have connection with the audience. In conclusion the reason I say that my writing had improve because
To be honest, I was not a good writer to begin with. I was a bad writer in my native language, and so I struggled writing in English. Sometimes, I find it difficult to put words together, even when I have the all the ideas in my minds. In my perception as a writer, I would say there are many areas that need an enhancement. And I would like to discuss about my weakness in English first.
When I took this English 101 class four months ago, I wanted to learn how to develop my writing skills and to communicate my thoughts clearly in writing using the English language. My parents are both French specking Cameroon, so I grew up in a French specking house. Before I assume everyone could understand what I was writing and I did not put too much effort to learn the technicalities of the English language.
The last time i wrote an essay or any academic writing was when i was in high school. Aside that te only writing i ave been involved in was for job application for in which i have already prepared. My writing has improved so much. MY vocabulary, how to start and introduction, how to write the body, how to conclude has all changed. I have learn summarizing my essays 250-300 words and I have I tackle each assignmenet with different pespective and it should come from me without any plagiarism. This is the first time my writings has to be free from plagiarism as it is not taken seriously before from my background. My writings has improved from everything coming from within and learning how to write it according to the Rubric. It is also new to
In my argument paragraphs I feel like I have really been able to lure in the audience and been able to persuade them. For example, in my OpEd article I was able to state my claim and back it up for the audience. Like when I talked about how sanctions were not affecting the north korean government. I feel like my narrative writings do need some improvement. I feel like I need to improve on dialog because I manly talk about about my thoughts and I have very minimal dialog. For example in my personal narrative I many talked about my actions and had very minimal dialogue when In real life there was a lot. I only had four lines of dialogue when I should have had at least 10. I also think that I have improved a lot in my analysis writings. I think I have improved because it's like an argument because you are trying to persuade people. For example in my analysis of a stylistic technique I was able to state my claim and back it up with examples form the text. In conclusion I feel like my different paragraphs have had strength and weaknesses in different
From my very first assignment to my fourth I personally think that I have improved with my writing skills. The feedback that my peers and professor
My successfulness and my struggles began when I first learned how to write and read in Spanish and sixteen years later I was force to learn a new language which is English. Back in the Dominican Republic where I’m originally from in between ages five to eight my mother and I struggle with my writing skills. My mother struggle teaching me how to write and I struggle learning how to write clearly because my teachers couldn’t understand anything written by me. I cannot remember how my writing skill look back then, but I can remember how shamed I felt when my classmates made fun of my writing materials. Once my friends wrote in the board “El profesor esta muy loco” translation (the teacher is crazy) with a crappy hand writing before the teacher
From the beginning of the semester to now, my improvement is almost breathe taking. I now know what a good writing is, and I take consideration into whatever it is I am writing instead of just putting words together and putting them down on paper. Of course I am not perfect; I still have some areas that I can focus on to help myself become an even more advanced writer. Comma splices, sometimes-even uses of dead words are my weaknesses. We are all creatures of habit, and straying away from those old habits are complicated.
As a second-year college student, I would say my writing has developed since my first year of college. A few examples that demonstrate my writing improvements are transitioning. Transitioning has always been something I struggled in, but in this article, I believe that my transiting to each paragraph is more smooth. When I begin to close my second paragraph, I close my sentence with a sentence that gives closer to the reader and makes it easier to start the next paragraph without leaving them wondering from the previous paragraph. Another skill I improved on is my thesis statement. My thesis statement clearly states what essentially my article will be about, so the reader is able to know ahead of time what will be talked about and not left wondering. Lastly, I felt I did great was explaining the reason for my quote I chose to use. Each time I would use a quote, I would then give a good explanation incorporating it to my sentence or topic in that paragraph. Which initially I believe I have always been good at explaining my reason for the quotes I use.
My areas for improvement as a writer are grammar and wording. Since English is not my primary language, I have many flaws on my writing techniques. Sometimes, my sentence becomes wordy or awkward if I could not explain something what I thought. Also, I have a hard time distinguishing what or when to use proper articles in front of the noun, or what preposition should be used in front of particular phrases or verbs.
Upon rereading the last three essays i wrote i gained some new insight about my writing, the good and the bad. The best part of my writing would be my body paragraphs. I believe my body paragraphs are good because i spend way more time on them than the introduction and conclusion. Another reason i believe they are good is because i back my claims with facts while including commentary, which is what you're supposed to do making me believe my body paragraphs are good because i spend more time on them and follow the lines on how to make effective body paragraphs. Even though i found good things about my writing there are also things i don't find appealing. Some things I don't like in my essays are the introductions and conclusions. This is
Then examining my later article of the weeks, “As Gun Debate Rolls On, TEachers in This Texas School Are Already Armed” and “No, there haven't been 18 school shootings in 2018. That number is flat wrong.” you can clearly see the evidence of change. Not only was I able to put more down on paper but also decipher the message better as seen with my more insightful comments, and questions that made me actually think and construct an answer before answering. As for my writing, I believe that I have improved greatly in terms of paying attention to detail, and sentence structure. For example just take a look at my first few writing assignments such as my research proposal, or my reflection on my annotation project. Both had the specific weakness of poor sentence structure and contained a lot of grammatical errors. Whether it was low variance in sentence length, basic spelling and phrase errors, terrible structuring and flow of sentences my older assignments
In my writing there is not just one specific spot where I could use improvement skills. The main problem that I would like to focus on is my grammar. As I write something then read my sentences, I just need some help on trying to get my sentence structure to flow better. Getting idea or topics in the correct order is no problem, but what I need is for my writing to flow like a good song. Of course when its your writing it doesn't sound like what you think it does to others. Also I feel that my lack of know transition phases plays a part in that as well. Sometimes the only words that come to my mind when writing is "and" and "as well". Which is not words you would want to have your essay filled with.
The writring has gotten very easier for me. These assignment has made me aware is many mistakes I have made in my writing. After all the assignment I have notice thing that I didn’t notice at first like the run-on, conjunctions, and many more. My confidence level is very high. I’m so sure of myself to where I can teach others what have been taught to me.
Having taken many writing classes I have learned many things about writing. I enjoy writing and can often write many pages about things that I am interested in. I know that I have more learning to do about writing, and hopefully in the next couple weeks my knowledge of writing will have expanded and my writing will have improved.
I believe that my approach to writing has changed over the course of the semester. My confidence in my writing has grown, as well as my knowledge in sentence structure, grammar, and word choice. At the beginning of the year, I doubted my writing abilities, but at this point, I feel as though I can handle large, intricate papers. I did not expect my writing to change drastically, but I did expect the small, technical details in my papers to improve, and I think they did. Overall, I have grown about as much as I expected to as a writer, and it has been very beneficial.
