I also need to be able to communicate well with client’s families, carers, colleagues and other professionals as mentioned in 1.1.
Good verbal communication is an inseparable part of professional communication. In a business, I believe you come across people from various ages, cultures and races. Fluent verbal communication is essential, to deal with people in important meetings or other events/situations. I also think that a self-confidence plays a vital role which when clubbed with fluent communication skills can lead to success and I make sure I don’t forget this when communicating in my job role.
I carry out the supervisions to my team leaders as well as support workers to promote and support an effective communication within their role. I ensure they undertake the relevant training to help them communicate better to lead our company to a success.
Within my role I sometimes had to do public speaking which I had to address a group of people and as we already know this is another form of verbal communication. I always ensure I am well prepared and organised for an effective speech. I do strongly believe In public speaking, my speech must be prepared according to the type of audience I are going to face. The content of my speech should be authentic and I must have enough
You should use preferred methods of communication to include all, meeting needs, across health, social care, mental health and special needs. You must be responsive to needs.
As a manager of a large residential service and working with a varied range of groups and individuals, communication is a vital part of how we care and support the people we work with. Communication affects my work setting in many ways, with the service user, their families, friends, social workers, counsellors, support services and medical professionals that we work with. The way that this can be done is in person, body language, telephone calls, text messaging, emails, group work, literature and written correspondence.
When using verbal communication in a business setting you should carefully plan. Be sure to know what purpose you have – whether you are informing people, providing a guide on something, persuading people of something, giving instructions, etc. With this in mind, be sure to be well informed on the topic in question as verbal communication opens up to questioning from others and you should be able to provide any relevant information. Also be sure to consider how what you are saying may affect those you are saying it to and consider this in your presentation of information. Then you need to deliver your content – be sure to make any greetings required and ensure people are settled and comfortable leading to open communication from all. Be sure
1.1 Review the range of groups and individuals whose communication needs must be addressed in own job role.
There are many forms of communication which can be used to meet the different needs of individual's and these may include one or more of the following:
To begin, it is important for us to understand what organizational communication means. Cheney et al (2011) state “mean to include a whole array of things, such as symbols, messages, interactions, relationships, network, and larger discourses.” This let us know that we are part of the organization and its effectiveness solely depend on the way we talk or communicate with each other. The organization that I work for is Grace living center. It is a long term care and rehabilitation center. We care for the elderly people who were either living by themselves and are unable to carry out their daily activities or were living with family members who could not care for their love ones may be because of too much work load or their schedule of work could
Effective communication in my role plays a hugely important role. Deciding which form of the 3 forms of communication, verbal, non verbal and written communication is critical to get the desired outcome I require which is to ensure the message is received and fully understood.
In my role as a Care Coordinator I understand that building a good relationship with staff, service users, their families and health care professionals is one of the most important aspects of my job role. I need to be aware of service user service users preferred methods of communication and also to support them to use it.
Training is received by all staff on communication to help overcome barriers and to make staff more knowledgeable of barriers which can be in the way when communicating. It Is part of my role to make sure staff bring back the training they are given and if they are late in doing so then reminders are given verbally and written.
Skilled written and vocal communication is vital if progress in education and business is expected. The absence of solid communication may ultimately cause miscommunication. In the areas of business and career, the inability to properly communicate may negatively impact job interviews, opportunities for promotion, or just even clarity in everyday conversation and writing.
Within my work history, I adapted my approach with tools and techniques to have meaningful and informative conversations tailored around people’s individual needs, age or ability, including direct work with children, using interpreters for those with poor English and involving carers of people with limited capacity. Being flexible and intune to both verbal and non-verbal communication styles allows for the wishes, thoughts, feelings and values of diverse service users to be heard, understood and actioned upon, in line with all essential legislation.
On the other hand, communication skills are necessary to get important information across to my subordinates. Often times the main source of office conflict is miscommunication. As a leader I should be able to clearly articulate important information that I need to get across to my subordinates. This can be in the form of writing or verbally. Regardless of the method of communication it should be clear and well thought out in an attempt to keep down confusion and to ensure that all team members are on the same page.
Communication is extremely important; if you are not communicating you are not managing. Communication comes in many different methods:
Communication is important in both the personal and professional field. The way you speak holds colossal power. It has power to tap new opportunities, or to shut the open doors; the power to build trust, and the power to ruin it; the power to generate new action, and the power to fail it (Paliwal n.d.). In the professional world, communication is constantly cited as one of the most important skills in getting ahead. It has been found that interpersonal communication, relationship building, leadership, teamwork, network, and persuasion were among the most important skills for job performance and career success.
