National Honor Society Examples

Simply being invited to become a member of the National Honor Society is a privilege. It’s not necessarily surprising to me that I was invited but rather gives me an exhilarating feeling. A part of me now knows that my sedulous efforts have finally paid off. Throughout my high school career so far I’ve exhibited the four pillars, which are scholarship, leadership, character, and service. This organization administers a plethora of opportunities that has an impact on the students and the lives of others especially. To be accepted into the National Honor Society would motivate me to contribute even more to not only our school but also the community.

Since entering the National Honor Society I have learned the significance of hard work. Good grades, the ability to show cooperation and leadership, and having the desire to help others without instruction are needed in the society. The National Honor Society has revealed the importance of hard work to me, and once inaugurated, one's efforts cannot slack up. One must still be engaged in keeping good grades, participating in voluntary work, and doing everything to the absolute best of your ability.

We all know that the National Honor Society is focused on the four main points of character, service, scholarship, and last but not least leadership. I am asking that you take consideration of these four points in my very own life.

Everyday, countless amounts of people are working hard, trying to change the world for the better. They are researching cures for cancer or taking twelve hour shifts to help keep oceans clean. There are people who are working towards a better world, and making life safe for the children in need, the animals in danger, and the men fighting for our country. Seeing these changes happen has motivated me to want to be a part of these developments. I wish to serve those around me, and believe that if I can have a positive impact on my community, it can affect the rest of the world. Therefore, I have made it my goal to be a part of the National Honor Society, in hopes that I can help my school, Middleville, and all who have impacted me. I believe that I represent the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and hope to use these qualities so that others may benefit.

During my high school career, I have participated in a large majority of the clubs available to me, and held officer positions in most of them as well. In both the National Honor Society and Medical Connections Clubs I am a member of two and four years respectively, and was elected treasurer of both for the 2017-2018 school year. National Honor Society has also given me many community service opportunities, including helping with the Night to Shine organization and a volunteering at a local nursing home.

The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. Reaching my goal in becoming a member of the National Honor Society would give me a great sense of pride both academically and personally. As a person I have ambition, academic excellence, and great decision making skills to offer NHS. I have been striving to do my academic best for a chance to be in the NHS, I show this with my 3.5 GPA. The National Honor Society is based off four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.

After doing some research on the National Honor Society, I learned that one must demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service in order to be considered for membership into the National Honor Society. Therefore, by showing that I possess each of these four qualities, I can contribute to Ocoee High School as a member of the National Honor Society.

The reason that I am interested in becoming a member of the National Honor Society is because the National Honor Society represents all of the values that I find most important in my education and life. National Honor Society requires academic excellence throughout high school. At the beginning of my Freshman year, I set a goal to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. I have worked diligently to achieve and maintain this grade point average while taking several advanced classes. So far, I have taken three classes for college credit and plan to take multiple more during my senior year. Through the course of my high school education, I have realized how important it is for an individual to develop and maintain these studious habits. Out of the four characteristics of National Honor Society, I felt the most important is a character. It’s because it distinguishes how your behavior shows daily the way you carry yourself every day. Got to bat for your convictions about great and awful, be your best self, and oppose social weight to do the wrong thing for the right reason. Good characters show respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship in all their actions every day. “Reputation is the shadow. The character is the tree.” - Abraham Lincoln. The quote explains that character is something that does not change, something that stays with all you that which characterizes you. No other person can control it. Status labeled that other give you, so,

I believe the most important requirement for gaining membership at National Honor Society would be a student’s personality and character. First of all, I learned to maintain a positive attitude even after my failures. I came to the United States as a freshman in 2010. At that time, I really had hard time learning English and I didn’t do well on my exams. But I didn’t give up easily. Instead, I put more efforts on my weakness and I overcame the difficulty I had. Secondly, I learned how to take care of myself and how to initiate new relationship with others, as well as how to adjust myself in new environments. That is why I make a lot of friends in my community. I am also an enthusiastic person who would like to help and motive other students. I think I can be a good role model for other younger students.

Throughout my freshman year at Notre Dame Preparatory I have participated in many new activities that have allowed me to grow in character, leadership, and service. Examples of such activities include school athletics, membership in the United States Civil Air Patrol, and ushering at my Catholic parish. Through school athletics I have not only grown in my athletic ability in the sports of track and cross country, but I have grown in my ability to move through adversity and challenges. In addition to my participation in school sports I joined the United States Air Force Auxiliary, the Civil Air Patrol. Additionally, having character is another paramount factor of a National Honor Society member. Throughout my life I have meet unique people, visited obscure places and encountered humbling experiences that have built my character and have helped me to build my religious background and relationship with God as well. Additionally, my attempt to always be honest to my family, friends, teachers and most importantly to myself help to keep me grounded and add to my character. To add, I believe I am very caring and will do anything in my power to help the people around me. Lasttly, I hope that my ambition will drive me in life to continue succeeding and never settle for anything than less than my best. To conclude, everyday I push myself to not only grow as a

National Honor Society, a society of students, teachers, and many others who embodied the four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These people embody these characteristics in every aspect of their lives. Provisional members, like myself, have been selected due to our success in meeting the academic criteria for a membership in the National Honor Society. These students, however, are just provisional members as being a member of National Honor Society is far more than just receiving high honors on a report card. One must exhibit true leadership, scholarship service, and character by going above and beyond what is required of them. Not doing the bare minimum, bet instead going the extra mile to accomplish whatever is asked of them to their fullest potential. Through this, a student can then be accepted into this society. For myself, it will only be a continuation of living like this, holding scholarship, leadership, service, character, and integrity in all my actions.

The first main pillar of National Honor Society is scholarship. My commitment to my education is very important to me. Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve loved to learn, read and acquire more knowledge. This positive quality had followed me all the way to middle school and now, high school. In middle school I really found myself through programs like Math Counts along with participating in Book Bowls and reading competitions. When I came to the amazing, opportunity filled institution that we know as Kalamazoo Central, I was awed with the amount of different academic clubs, levels and intellectuals available. Immediately, I sought out to join things that I developed a deep passion for like Model United Nations and Mock Trial.
