National Honor Society Research Paper

Service is an extremely important part of my life. I believe that through service we are able to serve God. I’ve always been an active member of my parish, Our Lady of Lourdes. Lourdes serves as a family for me, and through this family, I’m blessed with opportunities that allow me to serve my Lord. In 2011, I began volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes’ Sunday Meal for the Homeless. We provide dinner for local Homeless people in the area of Bethesda, Maryland. I started service here because, I needed service hours for my confirmation, but its become such a joy in my life to see these men and women every Sunday, and I continue to serve them even to this day. I may not be the best candidate for the next member of the National Junior Honor Society, but I certainly believe I could be a great addition! Overall, I am a great learner, leader and student. I have not had any major discipline problems since kindergarten! I have always had top grades and have been top of my class at some point or another. I have good grades that I always maintain and standards that I never lower. My character is not the best but it certainly isn’t the worst. I try to help out in my school or community when possible but regrettably I have not given much of my time to my school or community. At the end of the day, I am a good student, friend, son and brother.

I deserve to be a member of the National Honor Society because I feel like I’ve earned it. Over my high school career, I have been through many challenges, but I learned to face them head on with a positive attitude knowing how good the outcome can be. I fit the qualifications to be a member and if I do not fulfill them to a certain level, I will work on how to reach them. Throughout my school education, I’ve always tried my best, even more so in high school. I hold myself up to a very high expectation, I know I can always do better than before. As for volunteering, I am always involved in my community as much as I can. As a child, I was involved in many programs and I continue to do service work with more benefits to my future and character

National Honor Society is known for having extraordinary students whom possess strong leadership, constant determination, and also structured character. Though there are various students who have what it takes to become a member of the National Honor Society I feel that I should be one of them. From the beginning of my Freshmen year, I had a strong desire to find my path early in life and choose a career I would like to pursue as time went on. Realizing my passion for shopping was just the beginning, and though most girls all have this love for clothes I saw it differently, and began to explore the fashion industry by researching and reading up on the latest news. Thank you for giving me a chance to join the National Honor Society (NHS) to further my current and future learning endeavors. Being nominated due to having a high grade point average opened my mind further into how important it is to follow through with learning through and beyond the school and the benefits those grades can get me, such as joining the NHS. While I am aware that school is about far more than learning for grades alone, I am overjoyed with this chance.

National Honor Society is a nationwide organization for high school students, which was established in 1921 by Principal Edward S. Rynearson. NHS was originally founded on the principles to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote responsibility and leadership, and develop character in students. NHS is a wonderful opportunity for me and I believe that I would be an excellent member able to present valuable contributions to the program.

I would be delighted to be a member of the National Honor Society for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons being that NHS gives you a better chance of being accepted into a quality college as well as making you eligible for certain scholarships. I have been taught that being a part of NHS is a privilege and special honor that can only be awarded through hard work and success. Knowing this I have worked hard to be eligible to become a member. I believe I should be a member because of my distinction in leadership, scholarship, and community service.

I believe that I would be a good member of National Honor Society because I am an involved student here at SHS and in my community. Whenever there is a school event that needs planning, setup, or cleanup, I am bound to be there. Ask anyone and they will tell you that I am one of the most spirited and positive students at this school.

The National Honor Society is a prestigious group of students, and is is quite the accomplishment to be affiliated with this organization. It would be an honor for any scholar to be a part of. The group learns how to become fantastic leaders and beneficial members of their community. Each member has to excel in four areas: character, leadership, service, and scholarship. I believe that I demonstrate these four qualities within and outside of school. If given the chance, I would be elated and committed to learn how to a difference and impact on my local community and classmates

I serve turkey dinners and make means for the less fortunate. I also serve at mass most Sundays. My favorite experience was getting the opportunity to volunteer at the local hospital. I helped the older people in the clinic get up and stretch. After that I took on the task of prepping people before surgeries. Some of these people were very scared, but I always assured them they would be alright. I made beds, checked patients in, and really just loved the overall

Over the previous years, I grew bored with routine. I didn’t involve myself with school activities and stayed home for most of my days. My parents rarely planned any activities for me and my sisters. I had stopped expecting them to involved themselves with my school life. I didn’t even mind when they wouldn’t come for my band concerts. It’s hard being a child of immigrant parents. There are situations they would never be able to understand. The sole advice they can give me is about hard work. They want to push me and my sisters to our limits so we could have the better life that they never had. From them, I learned life lessons of self-sacrifice and determination of making things work, despite the roadblocks and challenges.

I think my excellence and requirements are perfect for being a member of the National Honor Society. I show great leadership and service inside and outside of school. I think it would be such an honor to be a part of such a great society. I feel as if I would be a great addition to the N.H.S. My character is also outstanding because I always try to stay positive and help people out.

I would be honored to be selected into the National Honor Society. I play an active role in my community and my school by participating in 4-H, FFA, County Council, Christian Education Board and being a teacher at my church. Although I believe it is important to keep a healthy balance between extra-curricular activities and school work;

I believe that I would make an exceptional member of National Honors Society due to my active commitment to improving my community through my leadership, service, and hardworking attitude. Throughout my high school career I have swam for both the Countryside YMCA torpedoes and the Ursuline high school team, participated in numerous community service projects, and taken up any leadership opportunities available to me.

I would be a great asset to National Honors Society because I am a student that embodies scholarship, service, citizenship, and leadership. Up to my junior year at Brooks College Prep, I have demonstrated the pillar: scholarship, because I achieved an academic goals that I set for myself. Freshman and sophomore year my goals were to only have As and Bs on my transcripts, however going into junior year, I wanted to challenge myself. That being said, I challenged myself to become top 10 % of my class and I achieved that.
