CHICAGO, Feb, 14, ---- Seven members of the notorious North Side gang led by George “Bugs” Morgan were shot dead today. The tragic event happened in a garage at 2122 N. Clark Street. The men were said to have been waiting for a “bootlegging” shipment of whiskey at Moran’s headquarters. Seems that Moran was running late to the meeting, when he arrived he saw a squad car of police men entering the building and decided to wait outside assuming that his men were inside being arrested. He took refuge in a nearby building but quickly realized that something was not right. All of the people surrounding Moran’s headquarters began to hear a rainfall of bullets and the cries of the men inside being shot. The dead as identified by real police

Black papas gang was small but the other gangs wouldn't dare try to cross them Pablo the quiet was quiet but if u made
Gangs in Chicago go hand and hand because of the rich history this topic has to offer. Coincidence? One may think not. In the time of famous mobster, Al Capone, gangs in Chicago were just evolving but did not live up to the names they have today. This includes their literal name, “gangs” , and the reputation they have today. However, groups similar to these of today have been around since the beginning of time, and not until after Al Capone did these groups get their name of “gang(s)”. Before they were just known as “mobs”. These sort of “gangs” were groups that had similar interests, backgrounds and goals they had in common. However, there is a difference between them then and now, but there are similar characteristics as well. The makeup of gangs today seem to have the same consistent patterns in terms of people who join, how they join, and where they join.
Five members of the Northern Gang were hiding inside a garage in Lincoln Park neighborhood, awaiting the arrival of the Southern Gang, according to detective Rob Marshal. Two members of the Southern gang approached out of a Cadillac Sudan along with 2 “civilians” The men of the Northern Gang were ordered against the wall by the
Moran and his gang after the attack, had been able to hold their territory for some time, but never really came back from the massacre (“Feb.” 2). Moran’s gang had also lost a lot of strength and power in Chicago in a short time (Benson, 1). One of the surviving victims, Frank Gusenberg, could have put the case to rest, serving those responsible, but when asked who shot him, he said, “No one shot me”, and the case was left unsolved when Gusenberg later died from his wounds (“Saint” 1). The two leaders of the attack, were the ones with the strongest alibis. Al Capone and McGurn were not charged for the crime and seemed to be free, but one gunman, Fred Burke, was arrested for the murder of a police officer and not for the crime (Rosenberg, 3). Although Capone was not arrested for the crime, it did put him on the federal government's radar and they had him arrested in 1931 for tax evasion (Rosenberg, 4). McGurn did not fare well either. One day, after the seventh anniversary of the massacre, he was gunned down in a bowling alley, ending his career (Rosenberg, 4). The massacre was however, the last time Capone and Moran interfered with each other. This was because Bugs was arrested in 1946 for small time robberies and later died in jail from lung cancer. Furthermore, Capone was arrested in 1931 (“Valentine’s” 2). Even though many thought they knew who ordered the attack, there
The Dalton Gang is mostly famous for their attempt at robbing two banks at the same time in Coffeyville Kansas on the morning of October 5th, they have always been famous outlaws in their hometown and other towns for their bank robberies and train robberies
My client Henry and the 38th street gang is innocent. There is not sufficient evidence or any evidence at all that ties my clients to the murder of Jose Williams. My clients are being treated unfairly and receiving unequal treatment from the court system. The evidence presented before you ties the Downey gang to the murder of Mr. Williams. My clients were at the wrong place and the wrong time and as a result are being thrown these false accusations. I highly request that the judge's ruling from the original case should be overturned. When asking ourselves what the best way to combat injustice, we need to think about how prejudice is known to be a negative behavior towards someone else which then lead to discrimination. If we have people learn
The largest ethnic groups of the Asian street gangs in California are Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian. Vietnamese gangs rose to the surface during the late 1970’s, while the Laotian and Cambodian gangs emerged during the late 1980’s, followed by Filipinos, Koreans, Samoans in the early 1990’s. The Asian gangs in this era accumulated in all sizes, starting at five members to anywhere as big as two hundred members, with ages varying from as young as fifteen to as old as twenty-five years of age. The criminal acts that these gangs organized were felonies; acts of burglary, business robberies, and auto theft. The Asian gangs that arranged drive-by shootings were seldom.
This is a great topic to pick Greg. It is a topic that is not only intriguing to think about, but can be easily researched. I can think of many reasons as to why someone who has committed a non violent crime and has no violent background would join a prison gang. One that immediately comes to mind would be safety. When someone who has no history of violence enters what many might consider to be the most violent place immaginable, people seek a way of protection. And prison gangs are by and far the best way to gain this. Another reason I feel would be feeling a sense of normality. We as humans naturally like to feel apart of something and have that connection and interaction with other humans. Originally entering prison you are alone and have
Juvenile’s gang and violent go hand in hand. When you see a violent crime in lower social economic area the cause is usually juvenile gangs. Juveniles commit majority of the crime in the community they reside in. Juvenile gangs have a (OG) “Original Gangster” who gives out order within the group for the juvenile to do as there told. Once the order is given the juvenile will follow through. This paper will assess the negative Impact gangs have on a juvenile in the low poverty
Gang crimes, such as graffiti, burglaries, murder and extortion, are devastating to a community’s well-being and sense of security. “The vast majority of violent incidents involving gang members continue to result from fights over
Young kids want to live their lives and play, so they do not like authority because it put s control measures in place for them. When a young kid gets upset at any authority figure, he or she acts out. They start to strike back at any authority figure. This leads to them rebelling against the rules which they feel that are trying to control or hinder them. This rebelling can lead them to join other kids or people like them, which end up leading them to join a gang. Once they join a gang it starts a new life for them, which can lead up to a life of crime. Once a person hangs around people who are consider to be a bad crowd, then bad things starts to happen. It’s really sad to see some kids who do not fit in the crowd, but they want to
The vast majority of young people involved in gangs suffer from persistent social and economic inequalities. The process of a young person’s involvement in gang happens over time. This process is influenced by major risk factors such as high levels of poverty, economic deprivation, and familial conflict. A closer look at the sociological theories of criminology may assist us in understanding youth gang involvement. In this paper, I compare the relative strengths and limitations of two competing theoretical approaches to explain the factors that influence youth gang membership. I argue that Social Disorganization theory can explain both socioeconomic and poverty, while Labelling theory can explain neighborhoods with a high gang presence as reasons that compel a young person to join a gang. I argue that, unlike the other two theories, Marxist theory approaches the issue of youth gang involvement by questioning how capitalist societies generate economic inequalities. In contrast to Social Disorganization and Labelling theory, I argue that Marxist theory offers the most compelling theoretical perspective to explain youth gang involvement.
I agree this was an interesting study as they focused on the life of the gang member following their course over many years. I was pretty surprised to learn that most gang members would exit that lifestyle by age 18. I actually thought that was when they would be in their prime even though I know they start at such an early age. The economic status of an area I believe has such an impact on motivating individuals to choose conduct involving the illegal activities of gangs. I think having a prosperous society makes it easier for parents to maintain a healthy home and that’s where the foundation can then be set for our youth to be successful.
All over the world people are affected by drugs and gangs. I got a chance to learn about how to prevent that from happening to me. My G.R.A.D.E teacher told us a very scary story. A boy who had prefect grades and was popular, was caught stealing a video game. I know never to do this because not only would it effect my future, it also will affect my family.
I believe that the thug life is a lifestyle consisting of rebellion, risk taking; however, living the thug life doesn’t mean the person is part of a gang, but part of a family that has their back. A thug will help a thug out no matter what; if you are part of the thug life, you are a part of a family and part of a bond that cannot be broken. Additionally, the thug life instills pride and empowerment because a thug won’t allow institutions such as the government dictate what they can or can’t do; they don’t let the government’s restrictions hinder them from doing what’s necessary to succeed.
