This article is about a study that conducted an experiment to college undergraduate student in order to show that recycling is not always a good option to have. The intended audience could be anyone for this article. For pathos of the study, the authors did single-blinded test on forty-four college undergraduate students. They brought student separately in to a room, and asked them to test a pair of scissors by cutting papers that are available in the room. For some of them, they have a trash bin in the room and for others, a recycling bin. According to the outcome of the experiment, the authors want to demonstrate that people would waste more when they know that what they are wasting can be recycled. For ethos, the authors put in effort to eliminate errors in the experiment in several ways. They “minimize suspicion by reinforcing the product evaluation component of the task.” “Participants were informed that they would be rating the scissors on a variety of dimensions using seven-point semantic differential scales.” At the end of the evaluation, they also asked the participants about the setup of the room to make sure the participants realized which type of receptacle they have in the room. …show more content…
