Personal Narrative: America's Gift To My Generation

People who have served in the military are the ones that have provided our nation with liberty and safety. They are the ones that took up arms in the World Wars, the Civil War, the Revolutionary War, and all other wars that this nation has been involved in. Many of the veterans of these wars have passed on by now, but those who are still on this Earth are held in reverence and viewed with honor. They were crucial to the continuation of our nation’s peace and unity. Imagine what America would be like without their bravery and sacrifices. Without veterans, there would be no “land of the free.” Without the World War I and II veterans, we would be living in a country, no, a world, where individuality and freedom would no longer exist. Without the veterans of the Civil War, the whole, united nation that we know today as America would not have been possible. Without the veterans of the American Revolution, there wouldn’t even be an America. The men and women that participated in these wars are heroes. They never gave up on this nation, whether they thought that they had a chance or not, and in many of these instances, they pulled through. Veterans never cease to be heroes, whether it be a time of peace or a time of war, whether they are alive, or they have passed on, and they will always be

Undeniably, these amazing people do a great deal for us and this country. They do more than just fight for us. They take risks that no one else has the strength to take. They stood tall for those of us too afraid and cowardly. Veterans put their lives at risk every time they stepped onto that war zone or enemy territory. They are what has put patriotism into our hearts and they do so much more than anyone could imagine.

Another reason veterans are America’s heroes is because they go out and fight for us and our freedom. I have four people that I know very well, people who are very close to me. They are my Grandpa Scott who used to be in the Navy, my Grandpa James Rush Cornett who used to be in the Air Force, my uncle Joel who used to be in the Air Force but retired in the spring, and

Many people think veterans are brave and courageous human beings, they are. People look at veteran and think I could never be that brave and give up everything. Think, if you were to fight for what you believe in then you could do what veterans are doing now.

Our veterans are extremely courageous, they sacrifice themselves and their lives because they know how many people they’d be protecting and helping. They knew the risks of their living, but they did it anyway for their loved ones, for all of America, and for honor. Veterans are all heroes and all are thanked by the people of America on this special day. These wonderful people all have undying determination, they always accept their responsibility with integrity. These heroes ambitiously fought with compassion, eager to protect America.

One reason veterans are our American heroes is that they paid the very high prices that our liberty and freedom costed with many lives and their own lifeblood. Many of us today live lives centered on taking care of our own personal wants and needs, but veterans put our well-being ahead of their own. In other words,

Think about if you were or are a soldier, pilot, naval officer, paratrooper, marine, navy seal, or Green Beret. You gave your freedom to fight for others! And that's what matters. It’s not just the soldiers in the military today, we should be thankful for everyone who has served our country. It’s not just the soldiers but what about the mechanics in the Air Force that make the planes possible? Consider who drives the tanks and humvees and also the Intelligence group. They were also a special part to. My two grandfathers, uncle, and great grandfather were in the military. Now that I think about it, they did a great job protecting the country and us from more wars. The veterans protect our country by paving the way to our freedom, therefore they should receive special attending

The United States of America is known for the land of the free and the home of the brave but there has had to be a lot of sacrifice for our freedom and we don’t give enough appreciation to the ones who gained it. We use the word hero to describe the veterans who fought for our country but really there is not word in any language that can describe how blessed we are to have the people who fought for us. There are so many people who go on with life and don’t think about what we take for granted. We are able to live how we want to live and do what we want to do and all our thanks everyday needs to go to the ones who made this possible, our veterans. Sometimes I knew who they were and thanked them for letting me as a citizen live the way I want to live through their sacrifice. Other times I never knew the hardships and struggles that they endured in order to give me the ability to stand here today. Still others were not yet veterans, those that have plans to enter the armed services and to serve their country proudly. Every veteran that I have passed has had a story that I gladly hear. For each is different but from every storyteller there are common threads. These threads are both in their words and in their eyes. Each veteran I have spoken to has shown great pride and surprise in their eyes. Pride from the recognition of their service, but also surprise for the exact same reason. When they speak I have seen these feelings appear and they have brought me a feeling of shame. I am ashamed at the fact that these emotions are not always present in their eyes for all to see. Shame that these brave men and women have been given so little that thanking them is not a routine gesture, but an extraordinary

First, veterans are really special and kind, to fight for our country. I mean they kind of risked their lives for ours.Sometimes they have to go into war but they also go into war by their choice. Also some of the times they die but we know they died fighting for our country.

Our veterans have led this country from day one. Helping us through terror and devastation, including the 9/11 fall of the twin towers, a shocking time in our nation's history. Also leading us through victory and success , embracing

Veterans Day is an opportunity for all of us to show our respect and appreciation to those who have put their lives on the line to keep us free.

These veterans risk their lives in so many ways. They fight and come home wounded and maybe even go back again. Some get wounded, and some don’t even make it out alive. Some go into the army or wherever they go with wives and families back at home. Some go in at a young age risking their whole life. They would take a bullet or any other kind of injury for our country and for us.
