One of the reason why I believe that my degree will benefit from Morgan state university is the Business platform that it works with . I can use my degree to better my career and also use my business to advance in the baltimore area .
The significant academic challenge I have faced, is my learning disability. in all my life I have this challenge, and I can’t run from these struggles. The struggles are from reading to math, and from math going into memory issues that I have to struggle with all my life.
From an early age, I had the desire to give back to my community. This desire was likely instilled in me by my mother, who as a school teacher, went to great lengths to help her students achieve academically. To better do this, she created at Tupelo Middle School in Mississippi, the Mermaids and Argonauts Program, which allowed students to travel on extended school trips to locations where they were able to have hands-on experiences at zoos, science labs, colleges, museums, and more across the country. As her child, I was able to tag along on many of these trips, which fueled my desire to learn about and interact with my environment. It left me with the great hope that someday I would be able to have such experiences abroad, in order to better learn about the people and cultures with which I interact. For this reason, I hope to study abroad this summer in Pachuca, Mexico.
Before I answer the questions posed, I believe an explanation is owed regarding this request for admission into Saybrook. I originally applied to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology seeking a degree in business psychology. Since the program was not ready to start for another year, it was suggested that I take courses in the international psychology program. I thoroughly enjoyed this new experience with an opportunity to “think global”. I optioned to remain in this program with a concentration in organizations and systems. As I sojourned through, I was always aware that there was still something missing. Although I loved being part of the IP program, my roots are deeply entrenched in the world of organizational development (OD).
I come from a small rural town nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. My hometown is split down the middle by a set of railroad tracks. On the north side, one can find pristine neighborhoods, newer schools, most doctors’ offices, and the only hospital in town. The south side of the town stands as a stark contrast. On the south side, you no longer find the wealthy neighborhoods but rather dilapidated and condemned homes and housing projects. One seems to find abandoned buildings on every corner, many inhabited by those that have lost their homes. Limited help is coming for those who need it, mostly through churches and volunteer programs targeting the underserved. Many doctors, dentists, and nurses are giving their time and resources to help
Although my rejection to Morehead State University was no surprise, due to my previous college standings, I was highly disappointed. In hopes of a better outcome after sending my final transcripts for the spring term of 2017, I shortly received my news of rejection.
When first offered the opportunity to be an honors student, I was unsure what exactly what that would involve and how that would impact my college experience. I'm not sure why I ever worried in the first place, as being involved in the University Honors Program has been one of the most rewarding decisions that I have made here at the U. Firstly, I greatly enjoy my advisor, Kristin Farrell and what she has to offer. She is incredibly open-minded and it is so comforting knowing that she will be my advisor for all 4 years. I more than look forward to our meetings and come knowing that she will be able to understand my choice of classes and listen when I have concerns or ideas. For example, I have been toying with the idea of studying abroad since
I am applying for the Counseling Masters program because since a very young age I have felt the need to help people and make a difference. The school-counseling program would give me the necessary tools to help students build a strong foundation for their future. Ive always been interested in pursuing a career in counseling. For many, being a teen is one of the hardest stages of life, so learning how to help students and help establishing and unfailing support system for them to become prosperous adults is my number one goal. I am a focused hard working individual who’s passion as a perspective counselor drives me to learn all that I may need to deliver a solid education and reliable support system for my
I never expected I would be applying to Purdue, due to the nonresident tuition my family and I would struggle to pay, until I realized it was possible for me to obtain financial aid and scholarships. Purdue has one of the best engineering facilities and I know if I work hard enough, this will be a great opportunity to pursue my degree and create friendships along the way. The main reason for living on campus is to get the real college experience, including independence and responsibility. With some close friends along the way, I’m positive this could be a great experience.
Yale interests me because it is an prestigious university that would be an honor to study at. Ever since I was a young boy, I yearned to know more about the world and I could not find a better place in the world for that than Yale University. Its vast library is overflowing with information that I would love to fill my brain with. It lets people like me read its books and use the gained knowledge within my world. Yale would be an amazing opportunity for me to discover myself even more and to learn more about the
The vision that I have for my future and career is a positive one. I started my MBA program at GCU with a positive attitude, determination to stay in the program and complete it successfully. My desire and vision after I complete my program is to take up a new challenge of starting my own small business in the area of non-medical Care Giving Services. This business will give me a great deal of opportunities to utilize all that I’ve learnt throughout my program. Through the small business that I’m looking to set up, I will have the opportunity to offer quality Care Giving Services to clients who have disabilities of one form or another. Not all clients get the quality care that they deserve in the care giving business, so I will focus on rendering loving and compassionate care that will make life easier for our clients. The services rendered and our core values will be in the best interest of the clients.
Although I believe that at this stage in my life that it is premature to have defined, long-reaching goals, I have set and achieved several short-term goals, all in keeping within my belief in the philosophy that knowledge for its own sake is fascinating and worthy of pursuit. I have found that as I learn more and more about the world around me, new venues open and new goals manifest, giving me new frontiers to explore. I am currently interested in computer science and have set a goal to pursue a degree in Engineering. As with many of the other goals that I set and achieved in the past, the most major influence on this goal is the fact that I have been home-schooled for most of my education. This opportunity has allowed me to consistently dedicate much more time to extracurricular activities and other personal projects than otherwise.
I have given much thought about my education and career goals. I included my current qualifications and accomplishment, as well as, the fulfillment of my desire to work in the government sector or industry. The issue I had with setting this goal was I qualified to work in many areas, and had become as a “jack of all trades and master of none.” I was all over the place trying to land in a specific area and industry. I have an Associates of Applied Arts degree in Paralegal, a Certificate in Corporate Governance, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice. I have worked in the private and nonprofit sector for years. I have collaborated with local and state government for a cause, but still felt as if something was missing, or I was not connecting with the right person or institutions. Therefore, I knew I had to strategically pursue both, education and career goals according to my vision and in doing so, I have to think long-term keeping my eyes on the result of my goals.

This is a skill that I believe is an asset to Social Work. My educational background is compiled numerous institutions from my many military moves. This demonstrates my unwavering commitment my determination to achieving my set goals despite the challenges set before me.
