Did you know that the cancer government, the federal communications commission’s says that hundreds of millions of Americans uses cell phones, and cell phones can cause you to have brain tumors? Did you also know that both adults and children spend most of their time on phone? When using your phone, it might give you a neck problem because in respect to cancer, concern focuses on whether cell phones might increase the risk of brain tumors in the head and neck area. But let me tell you something, as many of us use our phones daily, do we ever stop and think it might affect our body? No because we are so into social media and playing games that we don’t have time to think that it’s going to affect us. People say that phones are safe and other say they aren’t. I say that they can be safe at some time it can also depend what you do, and how long you use it for. Therefore, many of us get distracted easily and it’s pretty hard to get back on track. In 1973, the first portable cell phone was discovered, due to the cause that cell phones may not be safe at some time cell phones are also very important because in case of an emergency you will have a device with you. A second argument is that, do children those that are under age of 10 necessarily have to own a device? How is it even right for children to use electronics at their age? Whenever am outside and when I pass by kids using electronics, their little fingers tapping on that pricey miniature screen instead of holding the hands of their parents or whoever else is accompanying them. But now, many kids ignore us and focus on their electronics, and this is not fair. About an hour or two is fine for them. But what I had realize when am in parties is that their parents give their little kids electronics so the adults can have fun and drink. This is the argument that I trip about because you shouldn’t give a kid an electronic instead you should take your kids to the park or something, keep them distracted from an electronic that can ruin their vision. Another thing that I realize is that half of you parents don’t check what your kids are doing and watching. Well this phone issue basically goes for everyone. But since kids are vulnerable and easily influenced they
In today 's modern world, there is a great buzz around the latest and greatest in technology. One such massively important gadget, is the cellular telephone. In the last decade or so, cell phones have gotten smaller and smaller, as well as larger in popularity. It is difficult to go anywhere without seeing a person on a cell phone, or using a cell phone in some fashion. Contrary to popular belief, cell phones are not a "god-send" in my opinion, and looking at the facts, the world would be better off without them. As all of the following evidence shows, people would be safer, healthier and perhaps even smarter, without the presence of cell phones.
Taking away your teen’s phone can be a reflexive response to misbehavior. After all, what do they value more than their phones? And if that’s your go-to punishment, you’re not alone. Researchers find that 65 percent of parents take away cell phones or Internet privileges as punishment.
Albeit pragmatic, cell phones have become overused, resulting in several major issues in our society. Everyone from kids in grade school to elders in nursing homes own a cell phone. They are becoming more common in our society each year. We have begun overusing our cell phones. Many people are even becoming addicted to their cell phone (South University). People are refusing to put their cell phones down, even when they are driving. In 2015, 3,477 people died and 391,000 people were injured, all from people driving while distracted by their cell phones. More than 650,000 people even admitted to being on
As of 2013, cell phones rank number one for causes of car accidents, yet it seems almost impossible to go anywhere without seeing a cell phone in a person’s hand or attached to their ear (“Two-thirds of Adults Use a Cell Phone”). In the past thirty years, cell phones have started to pop up everywhere and have increased tremendously in popularity since. Worldwide, almost five million cell phones are in use today (“Cell Phone Use Linked”). Many parents understand the convenience and helpfulness of cell phones, but many more parents do not realize the dangers that cell phone usage can bring to children. Cell phones put children at risk for behavioral problems, cancer, and even death.
Hope you are doing well. I am finally back home in San Antonio. I will be out on a short break tomorrow and Friday, but if you need anything don’t hesitate to call me on my cell (number below). Attached is the draft MOU we sent to KCK Public schools along with the a budget breakdown. In KCK I trained a total of 35 parent facilitators and each facilitator received a hard copy of both the English and Spanish curriculum guides. According the printing receipt each guide costs approximately $200 to print.
If you’re walking across the street in Honolulu, you’ll want to put your phone away. A new law went into effect making it illegal to be looking at a screen while crossing the street. This bans something many of us are guilty of - texting and walking or looking at any screen really, specifically while crossing the street. It is meant to keep pedestrians eyes up and on the road while navigating crosswalks and city traffic. Government is trying to get this problem stopped, not just in Hawaii but all over the United States. This law is a needed change that will benefit society in the long run.
I hope all is going well with the texting project. I wanted to reach out to you for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted to check on the progression of the project. Secondly, to inform you about a document I created that would help reintroduce the project to prospective and current enrollees in the project. I wanted to create a document that would tell providers, exactly what to expect from the project as well as the purpose behind the project.
People are dying in the streets at an alarming rate , and their cellphones to blame. Although this might sound a bit sensationalist/hyperbolic, It’s true; Are favorite distraction are -cell phone- is to blame for rising amounts of injuries and deaths in are local intersections. The people of honolulu has recently enacted legislation to discourage residents from distractingly walking into intersection while looking down at their cell phones. Recent news stories and the concerning statistics related to this issue are enough to prove we definitely should enact legislation in our city against distracted walking.
Hey Brianna! I think you have made some great points about Apple, and i have learned a few things from your post. I am also a huge apple fan I have a Macbook and an Iphone, but my liking for Apple has changed after some recent events. Apple has recently been sued for false storage space which is a bit concerning seen as you play around 200-400 dollars for an Iphone, it has been proven that a 16GB Iphone 6, actually has only about 13GB of space because 3 of those GB have been taken by the operating system and pre-installed apps. The lawsuit has also charged Apple with a Machiavellian strategy, that would cause people to buy iCloud for extra storage. This is false advertising which is against the law, and has made me think a little less highly
The cell phones people use cause accidents on the road, ramifications to the brain, and hackers can discover secret or paramount information. Cell phones are gradually ruining people’s life physically and mentally. If some people don’t know the harm about cell phones, they might experience something they wish will never happen again. Take part in preaching the words to others around you so they are aware of the situation. People’s minds are stuck on the screen and need to start waking up and notice the dangers with cell phones. Some people learned this by experiencing one of the dangers. To prevent people from not experiencing a hardship from cellular devices is to inaugurate a group of people to recommend punishments to those who fail to follow the rules with the system. Furthermore, picture your future in 10 years. Can you imagine yourself being one of those people remembering the harmful effects of cell phones and spreading the word to others or someone who disremembers all about the negative effects of cell phones and soon comes to meeting abysmal
People out for a fun night together and everyone looking down at their phones. Everyone shooting texts, updating social media and answering calls. Cell phones have truly changed the way how people connect to other people. Thirty years ago you would have to walk up to the cute guy at the bar, but with modern technology you can just shoot him a text instead. When many people think of the dangers of cell phones they think of all the accidents that they cause by distracted drivers. Many people don’t realize that not only distracted driving makes cell phones dangerous but with just modern day use can cause health problems and put people at risk with pedophiles. When people think of cell phones they think that they’re nothing but beneficial and
When an ordinary person wakes up in the morning, they usually think,I wonder whats going to happen today? What should I eat for lunch, maybe I should take a walk, or relax at the beach. Normally it has something to do with their everyday life. Sadly, not for an innocent San Diego citizen who tragically got her life cut short by Jorene Ypano Nicolas, who decided texting in the car was more important than paying attention. Nicolas was driving down on Orange County San Diego freeway in Westminster when she slammed into the back of the victim 's car, killing her. Nicolas was charged and sentenced to 6 years in prison (Women Gets). Most people don’t think of texting as a big deal, but it is. There are nearly 1,600,000 car accident per year alone caused by texting while driving alone (National Safety Council). It’s sad to think that all of those accidents could have been prevented if people were not so obsessed with checking their phones. Eighty-four percent of residents say they can’t go a single day without checking their phone, 50% of Americans said that they sleep with their phones right next to them; a number of them includes more than 80% of 18-24 year olds, and 20% of those Americans check their phone every 10 minutes (Smartphone). Not only are these numbers high, but ridiculous. To think that so many people are so dependent on checking their phone that they can’t even see how it’s practically taking over their lives, it 's worse than nicotine. People need to limit their
Phones. They’re the light of our lives. They make the world go round. We walk around taking pictures of everything from sights to food. We post our every move from our phones. We stay connected and socialize through our phones--which is both a blessing and a curse, but that’s neither here nor there. But what happens when you lose your phone for a year? Does the world continue spinning? Does it stop? Do you still have a life? Well, in case you were wondering...or even if you weren’t, I’m here to give you a little insight.
Everyday people use cell phones. People use their cell phones for a lot of things. Whether it’s for work, for leisure, and even because there’s nothing else better to do. Some people don’t put their phones down for hours, unless they are recommended to or forced to put them down. Some people can’t operate without their cell phones. The average person checks their phone a lot. Numbers vary from as low to 45 all the way up to 110 times a day a person checks their phone. That’s a lot if you think about it. We have 24 hours in a day where we mostly sleep. So, count the hours we are awake we check our phones like 3 or 4 times in an hour. Especially if you are expecting a special call, a special email or text. You might even just stare at the phone until you receive it. People these days don’t know about how hard it used to be to go on the internet and look for stuff. It wasn’t always that simple. Basically, what I’m trying to state in my paper is the pros of a cell phone and cons of cell phones as well. I’m going to tell you advantages and disadvantages of cell phones. I want to aim my paper to the audience of America, to kids everywhere and adults too. I want to state information, facts, and opinions on cell phones. Many problems in the world have or are being caused by cell phones. You could say the world revolves around cell phones just because, so many people have them in their lives. I’m going to give you facts and information from both sides of the topic. I
Every day of our lives, we watch as technology advances in leaps and bounds, so it was only logical when the cell phone came into existence, it would also be important to develop ways for a phone to be more than just a phone. With the explosion of the internet age people needed a way to bring their computers on the go, one that could fit in the palm of their hand. Whether it be checking emails, updating social networks or even playing games, smartphones seem to do it all. There is however, a dark side to every technological advance to everything that makes our lives more convenient. Smartphones are not only a huge distraction in our lives but are also known to cause health problems in those that use them and even have negative effects on society as a whole.
