Solve a Problem PHL/458 September 5, 2013 Solve a Problem Challenges are all around us. Sometimes we face easy challenges and other times we face difficult challenges. In order to solve a problem, regardless of its level of difficulty, one must think critically and creatively in order to develop a satisfactory solution. As we try to solve the problems of our daily lives, it is important to examine any and all ideas. From the most mundane to the most radical, it is a healthy activity to express all ideas and do the filtering later. This paper will attempt to discuss and solve a problem I have some personal experience with. “It is one thing to have thinking skills and quite another to use them in everyday situations” …show more content…
The third piece was the easiest to remove and replace. It did not have a direct impact but it was still a possibility due to some interconnecting cables that could have been damaged. Now that we had our plan and we were certain that these three parts would rule out approximately 95% of the possible problems, I presented the ideas up the chain of command for approval. On an average day this approval process could take hours depending on the nature of the work. Sometimes it was necessary to shut down the ship’s engines to perform maintenance or slow down the speed of the ship in case technicians would be climbing the ships mast. On this day though, we almost immediately received notice that we were figuratively steering and controlling the ship. We were now the priority on the ship and anything we needed would be done so immediately. By the time we replaced the second part we suspected, powered the equipment back on, and tested its functionality, we were fully operational and still had one hour to spare before launch. Both the technician and I received medals for our performance under such high pressure. When we returned from the Persian Gulf, I sat down with a number of highly ranked officers from the ship and we discussed ways that this could have been avoided in the future. One of the most obvious was to have physical redundancy. The expense would still be very high but it would eliminate this happening again. As we discussed other options, I
To successfully implement change, employees need to understand how this will benefit them and impact their daily work. One of the things is that something might look good on paper can have drawbacks that are not realized by the planners, but can be easily identified by the employees who must implement the change. Therefore as a manager you need to bring the idea to the employees and get their feedback and continue to empower the employees to make the change that will work for them. Since change doesn’t happen overnight a manager needs to continually in monitoring the process and to assist the
When it comes to installing Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, there are many different server roles that this software operating system has to offer. The first one is Active Directory Certificate Services and Active Directory Domain Services. Active Directory is a huge component when it comes to a server. This service has all the information about all of the users, the computers, and any other device that is connected to the network. The Active Directory assists IT professionals with being able to manage all of this information, and allows them to be able to facilitate any sharing that is going on between any
I have been working as an engineer on a defense project of a large industrial company that uses money funded by the taxpayer. My duty is to review the satisfactoriness and tasks of the subcontractors. While working, I informed to my superiors about finding some problems on submissions of one of the subcontractors and I requested them to reject such work. Sadly, they rejected my request instead of solving the issue. However, I continued to suggest them to go through as per the specifications of the project because the project was funded by public’s money. Due to my several requests, my managers have kept me under their supervision for three months. They want me to improve my job performance

When planning a curriculum, a designer or program planner has three very important aspects, foundations, and vision to ensure are in place. They are program goals, program objectives, and program outcomes. The following speaks to the differences and relationships not only between program goals, objectives, and outcomes but provides insight of each in the specific instance of a curriculum for teaching staff how to teach patients.
11. List the five steps of hypothesis testing, and explain the procedure and logic of each.
The works from Chip Heath and Dan Heath review one of the contemporary issues of having our ideas become “sticky.” In this paper, I will argue that it is an outstanding book as it is informative, easy to comprehend, and is added with humor into the book. It is educational as the book is written regarding six components in how to obtain a successful time creating a sticky idea during every day practical life. For instances, it explains to the reader that our major flaw that results us to create “non-sticky” ideas is since, we assume that the audience perceives what we perceive, when in reality they have not. As a result, the idea is barely memorable to the audience. Additionally, it is written in a method where an academically written writing
It is astonishing to see what we can accomplish when we allow ourself to think. Thinking is one of humanity most magnificent tool, a tool in such that it allows us to opens pathways to emit success. It is not something that can be overestimate or can be limited because thinking is in constant demand. To better understand such capability in depth we must first take in consideration the work of both Todd Dewett and Edward de Bono. These two have express and illustrate phenomenal idea to the importance of thinking.
When the auxiliary pumps failed to come online, a relief valve should have opened as a tertiary safety mechanism to release heat and pressure. It was prevented from doing do due to a mechanical fault, but poorly designed instrumentation made this difficult for operators to discover. As a result of improper training and complex instrumentation, it took several hours and a new shift of workers before
Education has evolved in so many ways. As a teacher, I have often wondered about my current problem solving skills in relation to my students and how these skills develop through growth. Does problem solving develop as a result of maturation or development based on ages? Problem solving is an aspect of cognitive development, therefore one can assume it develops as children develop. It is evident that teachers and other adults may think of problem solving in mathematics when they hear the words problem solving. I was one of these individuals. I thought of problem solving as understanding and analyzing math word problems, however, it entails so much more. Having well developed problem solving skills or the lack of these skills can impact all areas of life, from in the workplace, within yourself, or in a math class. In order to fully understand the development of problem solving skills in adults, researchers have completed several studies on young children and how cognitive development affects their problems solving ability. The research in this paper seeks to understand what problem solving is, why it is important, how problem solving skills are developed, and the diseases or disorders that may affect problem solving.
The crew then tried to manually start the pumps to fix the rig, but this made things worse. There were no manuals on board explaining the ballast control system so they did what they felt was right. Instead of emptying the ballast tank on the side where the rig was listing, they pumped in more water, to try and start the pumps working but, this just increased the list to about 15 degrees. If the crew had used the knowledge of hydraulics pumps they would have realized that it would not be possible to to get rid of a leak by pumping in more liguid. Doing so would cause a large overflow destroying the pump.

In making this paper I’ve learned how to make it by our own because it teaches us how to be independent individual. I also learned how to brainstorm with my group mates to come up with a wonderful idea because we are helping each other.
The business man behind a desk, the scientist in the lab, the artist approaching his canvas, the mathematician examining the symbols he placed on the blackboard--the thoughts going through each of their heads are very different in many ways, yet amazingly similar.
