Did you know that the highest type of doctor gets paid just over $500,000 and yet the average Cubs player made over 6 million dollars in 2012? That huge gap between the income of a doctor and a professional athlete shows that professional athletes are overpaid by a lot. The income of a professional athlete should be lowered and the income of important jobs should be raised higher than they are now. The way that professional athletes risk their health to potential injuries may affect their salary, but they should only get paid a normal amount of money and get more money when injured. Professional athletes are overpaid to just play sports, while our troops get paid less than them. The income gap between professional athletes and important jobs such as doctors, has increased drastically and will keep increasing. Instead of the athletes having a huge income, the people that we need daily should have that money in order to keep them well paid. The total amount that a professional athlete makes in his or her career is well over 6 to 10 times more than what a doctor would make in his or her career. If the annual salary of most of our important jobs such as teachers, were increased think of the possibilities that our society would be instead of what it is currently. The way that the money is just going to athletes to keep America entertained is not a good way to keep people motivated to become things other than professional athletes. People these days want to be a professional athlete for the money and that is why we must try to change the income of most of our important jobs to attract more and more people into them. The increase of enrollment into those jobs would most likely have been caused by the shift in money due to the fact that people want more
