Rancourt Hall Descriptive Writing

I lugged my bags up to my room and collapsed onto the bed. It was on the second floor of the house and the window looked out over the backyard that was shadowed by the surrounding forest. The floor was covered in light grey carpet and the wall painted a plain off white. A dark, wooden bed took up most of the room, pale fairy lights haphazardly thrown along the headboard. Two matching bedside tables sat on either side of the bed and an empty desk sat opposite it.

When you step out of this room to the photography room on the right your feelings within the surrounding change once again. In the first room of the museum the tile is white and thus reflects light, creating yet more light in the surrounding area. The walls go from light and colorful shades to a medium tinted of gray creating a more plain mood within the room. In the side room full of photography the flooring changes from white large stone tiles to wood panel flooring. The opening to this second room is an opening the wall rather than another doorway but instead of the opening stretching all the way up to the ceiling, there is a thinner horizontal plank at the top that is an almost metallically aluminum color. The gray, bland walls still hold my drawings from years ago. Blood scattered around the room adds some color the dull, grey walls and floor. The only source of light comes from a small, prison-like window. There’s no bed or anything. Just emptiness. In the far corner, a chain with blood dripping off it hangs.

The room was a small room. It had a table on one side with 8 chairs stacked together. The middle of the room was empty with toy bins around the side and back wall. On the back wall there was a little kitchen set with a shopping cart. On the other side there was cubbies for the children, a door to go outside to the playground, a 4-door closet, and a counter that was used for changing diapers. The toys were building blocks, legos, books, cars, dolls, and items that went with the kitchen.

Alcatraz; just the name sends cold chills into everyone’s spine. A tiny island in the middle of the large pacific ocean. Not your typical tropical island with nice beaches and waiters walking around with food and drink in their bright white uniform, ready to serve you. This one has a rocky shore with cold water splashing on it making the horrific sound of death. The screaming noise of a fast wind adding to that is not something anyone ever wants to hear. Morning mist rising from the ocean everyday trying to swallow the whole island is no pretty sight for a prisoner. An island from prisoners can see the beautiful city of San Francisco with its bustling life and sparkling lights while their own life is stuck in dullness and darkness. A pathetic

Nestled snuggly into the Blue Ridge Mountains was Ridgecrest, North Carolina. Getting there was no joke seeing as the ears popped every five minutes, but the scenery was beautiful.

I couldn’t help but stop, I was mesmerized at how elegant the hall was. It was a long passage, decorated with white tables, mirrors with white trim, white tile, white ceilings, and white lamps placed on every table giving off a ghostly, cold light. Open doors lined the walls. Inside, you could see white decorated rooms.

Silent. At the edge of the sky there was a magnificent white patch, a turning page, catching the sun. The rest was ivory grey, with a subtle hint of mauve, just enough to announce the coming sunset. Scanning the horizon were the white cotton balls on cerulean satin, with a subtle layer of dove grey underneath, which was thin enough to let the light through. Stood there like a ghost, a silent observer of the venerable castle, and the clouds. The colossal mountains were shielding the inferior castle. Beyond the towering mountains was a decrepit, venerable and ancient castle like structure. The azure roof was coated and concealed by the thick opaque dust. The roof was as dusty as an abandoned warehouse floor. It was an elderly going paler as it got older and ancient. As I nonchalantly walked up the moaning narrow staircase, a thick mist of cold crisp air blew through me, rustling my hair and sending a chill down my spine.

It was the night of June 21, 2000 in San Francisco, California and it was a cold, rainy night. Then there was loud, almost an eagle-like shriek. The scream came from out by the porch in front of the house.

Since you have seen the outside I am sure you are dying to see the inside. This room is the main room of the house. As you walk in your door (as I said earlier) will make a very loud creaking sound. When you step into this room the bloodshot eyeballs from the pictures will start following you as you move across the room. The floor boards will bend with each step you take. When you try to sit next to the fireplace it will ominously turn on and off. In this room you will hear a knocking on your, but when you come to answer it not a single soul will be present. There is a secret staircase behind the bookshelf, that leads to a secret room, that leads to one of the many graveyards. The chandelier lights will turn on and off as you sit by the crackling

If I had to choose what my favorite room in my house was, I would say my bedroom. You will be placed on the south east corner of the room in front of the door. You are in a twenty foot in width by fifteen foot in length by eight foot in height room. In this essay i will describe the area of my room without using the actual names of each item. There is one door and one window within the room.

It looks as if it’s the same size as a football field. . As you step in, you immediately sink a couple of inches because of how plush the caramel colored carpet is. The long glamorous chandler hangs from the high vaulted ceilings. Immediately to your left is a marble sink, with silver pull out fixtures and deep sink bowls. On the sink there is an automatic soap dispenser on the right and an automatic hand dryer on the left. Both made of sterling silver. The burnt orange and brown colors on the wall are so bright, it looks like the sun is shinning directly above the room. The walls are covered with many paintings. Some of famous artists that color the walls are Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso. Many of the others are from unknown starving artist. To the far right of the room there is a solid wood bar hutch that looks as tall as an oak tree. Any drink that you can think of, is there in that bar.
