The work offered by Finance closely aligns with my interests and personal attributes. Finance engages in work relating to a wide range of disciplines in which I am interested and pursuing, such as law and economics. Furthermore, I am interested in areas such as policy development and project assistance, which I also believe to be very useful for my future career development. Another reason that I am interested in the career starters’ programme is the opportunity to learn and develop skills in a professional environment whilst transitioning from a student to a member of a professional workforce. Also, I enjoy working alongside others and seek to cultivate good relationships. I believe I have the skills and attitude to excel in the programme.
A global manager is associated with success as an international executive. Dimensions included in this are: general intelligence, business knowledge, interpersonal skills, commitment, courage, cross-cultural competencies, and the ability to learn from experience. My potential for success as a global manager would be on the cusp of being relatively high. In today’s global economy, being a manager often means being a global manager. But, unfortunately, not all managers are able to transfer their skills smoothly from domestic environments to global ones. I believe that I have the ability to accomplish this on a consistent basis.
The environment/atmosphere at the career fair was amazing. The companies were all engaging and extremely welcoming to all of the students, from my perspective. I wasn’t exactly nervous because I prepared questions to ask each of the recruiters ahead of time. My approach went quite well, and I took the steps that were given to me in class. I introduced myself and started to speak about my life at Indiana State, qualifications, skills, etc. (elevator pitch).
Through my research I have found multiple jobs that interest me, but there are two that stick out the most: Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist and Psychiatric Technician. Before researching, I had no idea about these jobs, but now I know good deal about them. After researching, I found out in what settings people in these positions work, how much they make on average annually, what their job entitles, what the education requirements are, what the growth rates for these occupations are. The jobs’ settings are very similar, but their salaries and duties are very different. I was able to find that if one just looks at the average, annual wage for each occupation, Psychiatric Technicians make about $28,000 while Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialists make about $34,000. The growth rate for Rehabilitation Counselors, in general, is faster than Psychiatric Technicians, but only by four percent. The overall tasks of each occupation, however, differ greatly from each other.
1.What is one short term goal you have on your agenda to achieve in the next couple of weeks to a month?
Kimora acknowledged, “I did not want to eat and her getting stern with me and making me sit at the table just made me start crying uncontrollable.”
I have worked in the child care field for 25 years. I started my career at an in-home center. On September 15th, I have worked at the center I currently working at for 20 years. Neither one of the centers were very diverse. The center is NAEYC accredited and respect and encourage diversity.
My aim for today was to make more time for one on one sessions with the residents. This actually ended up working quite well as 5 of the 12 residents in cottage #3 went out for a bus outing from 0930-1100. I came back from my first break and was entirely done all the AM care, including that morning's shower, so I was able to take an hour to file and paint the nails of two residents.
After having taken this psychology career development course (PSY 3024), I’ve learned a lot about not only different psychology options, but also a lot about myself. Having come into this course, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do. I really just declared psychology as my major in the summer before this semester. So, definitely my career plans have changed after taking this course. Psychology has many different subfields, ones I learned I had no idea about prior to taking this course. For example, I learned about sports psychologists and how they assist athletes in different ways to ultimately help them prevail. I learned about forensic psychologists and how they work with the judicial system and do many tasks, including helping
In these four years of attending UWSP, I plan on majoring in Wildlife ecology and management. I was always a crazy animal lover when I was little, because I grew up on a farm. But when I went to my cabin or uncles land with my parents we always saw bears, porcupines, snakes, raccoons etc. I got to see these animals in their different habitats, which was awesome. I thought for a bit that what would be more awesome than just seeing these wildlife animals, would be to work hands on with them and their environment they live in. With this major I hope I am able to get into either a wildlife biology research facility or even an animal rehabilitation facility.
Critical thinking is very important in any career field but for cyber defense it is a must have skill because there will be moments that will require to make decision at critical times. For instance, the companies’ information system the has been hacked. Implementation of a new system will increase security and benefit the company.
Creating a personal development plan involves more than simply contemplating what you want from your life and how to go about achieving it. If you want to create a personal development plan that helps you to achieve your goals, preparation is the key. To prepare, one must have a great deal of self-awareness. This includes clear understanding of personal values and ethics, analyzing personality characteristics, evaluation of learning styles and identifying strengths, weaknesses, motivators, opportunities and threats.
I’m interested in a career as a Financial Advisor because of the professional environment, entrepreneurial opportunity, and the chance to help others. As an individual who is energetic, ambitious, and have good ethics and integrity the financial service industry offers an ideal professional setting. A Financial Advisor also has a great entrepreneurial opportunity as you have your own clients, create your own work style and the opportunity to build your own enterprise. As a Financial Advisor you also have the valuable support of the company with which you are aligned. Lastly, a career as a Financial Advisor will grant me the opportunity to continue to help others in a different aspect of their lives. As a Financial Advisor, you can help others
This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson encourages students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets, and their interests. Students then take those concepts and apply them to career exploration. They are able to link their strengths, preferences, and abilities to potential future career paths. Some of the specific aspects of career development that I addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and success, and teaching students where and how to obtain information about post-secondary options. In this lesson students are encouraged to apply decision making skills to place different careers into the appropriate career fields. In doing so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest to them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources in order to continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not expect sixth graders to fully decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is never too early to get students thinking about careers and having them set goals in order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also believe that this unit touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development. This lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well as in pairs. This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students to take an inventory of their personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self-esteem and promotes a sense of self-awareness. Lastly, this unit also encompasses academic development. Students will understand that good grades and academic success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post high school graduation.
