The computer is a work tool, organizer, a communication tool, and after we has been sitting on the computer for eight hours, most will probably still be able to read messages or private e-mails at home, or book the next trip. Some researchers see this as a change in people's attention span, as the oversupply of shorter texts, videos and graphics are preferred and more complex content is pushed into the background. Without the computer, it is no longer possible, and thanks to the development of more and more recent technology, such as the highly acclaimed smart devices, people and computers remain connected all day
The Cornell note taking system, developed by former Cornell University professor Walter Pauk in 1949, features three areas. It features a three-part system used for condensing and organizing notes, whether in the classroom or out in the field. One area is for note taking, the second is for review notes, and the last one is for summarizing. Cornell notes was invented to benefit students in the classroom and help them formulate a way in which they can understand the lessons being lectured while at the same time being well organised.
Many daily chores are completed by the use of smart technology. For example, smart technology can be used for: setting an alarm clock, making phone calls, balancing a bank account, paying bills, checking e-mails, doing homework, getting directions, etc. Many people take advantage of this. They may use their laptop, iPad, cellphone up to ten times a day to complete these tasks. I'll admit it, I have a favorite app myself. Pinterest! I'll lose hours on end getting lost in the app. However, smart technology does have better uses.
Evernote is a tool that allows either students or teachers to create notebooks through their computer. They can be used in a variety of ways, for example, a student may use a different notebook for each class their taking, with each notebook being then categorized for different topics within the class. This is a great organizational tool for anyone to use even outside of the educational field. To create my examples I used the Evernote program to create notebooks for my favorite baseball team, my EDTech202 class, as well as a fake Teacher planner. I will discuss the A's notebook as that is the example provided on the hyperlink above. To create this notebook I first watched the introduction on how to use Evernote correctly. Inside, I created a table of each of the pitchers on the A's roster.

Mankind has come a long way, from reading the traces left by animals in the soil to reading the scratches and scrawls across a white surface, (or the printed letters on a page). However, printed records are hardly ever hand-written anymore since the impact of electronic (and digital) environments are so prevalent in lives. With the exception of those who still write out their notes for school or send heartfelt cards during the holidays, most people don 't

A notable aspect of the changes in technology is the ability to write or draw without use of paper, making it much easier to access it on long bus trips to and from various scheduled appointments. A laptop or tablet fits into a bag no larger than the average purse, a smartphone is even smaller than that and can easily be held in a pocket. Even if it’s just a few haphazard strokes or random ideas typed out, this allows creativity on the go, even if you’re busy all day.
Note taking is an incredibly valuable skill, because with taking notes, you have nothing to reference when you are studying. One good way to take notes is by writing down keywords and follow them with brief descriptions. This strategy works well because you do not get lost in a mess of information when studying. Another strategy is drawing a picture of what it makes you think of, so that when you see the picture it will have the info attached to it.
When this happens needs to re-read a passage to understand what she had read. However, she went on to explain she understands the material better if it is read to her. Jordan was shown the Kurzweil 3000 and Read and Write Gold, two literacy software programs, which will provide support necessary for her to be successful. She appreciated that the material was read back to her while highlighting each word. This will help Jordan to maintain focus. Another feature of these programs would be to allow Jordan to use highlighters, sticky notes and extraction tools to assist her with studying. Jordan found the writing path feature within the Kurzweil program to be exceptionally helpful. Having the writing templates will help Jordan break down her writing assignments into smaller chunks, allowing her to stay focused and on task. The brainstorming templates could also help Jordan with organizing her thoughts during the writing process. The ATS is recommending Jordan is provided with the Kurzweil program for reading and writing. Jordan will need an All in One Printer so she will be able to scan material into her computer when a digital format is not available. The ATS is recommending Jordan access the research project calculator application rpc.elms4you.org to help organize her time with large
Dylan was shown the features and functions of the LiveScribe pen. Taking in the recorded lectures and important information without the worry of taking exact notes will be less worrisome for Dylan. Having the LiveScribe pen can promote better note taking skills while giving him the opportunity to listen to the lectures at his own pace while writing his notes. A conventional digital voice recorder was considered, but will not allow Dylan to easily access part of the lecture that needs to review when supplementing his notes. The ATS had Dylan try the pen which he was able to maintain and navigate with ease. The ATS is recommending Dylan is provided with the Live Scribe Echo pen 2 GB and two 4 pack of notebooks.

Many students in today’s society prefer to use laptops for note-taking rather than writing it down the old fashioned way. Laptops may sound easier to type your notes faster, but it can become a distraction towards learning. Students who use laptops take verbatim notes, meaning they copy notes without giving it too much thought. Students who take longhand notes process the material better than those who type their notes because they must be selective towards what they write. Longhand notes are called generative note-taking. Generative note-taking is summarizing, paraphrasing, and concept mapping a text. Students who use laptops take nongenerative notes, which involves verbatim notes. There are two hypotheses towards why note-taking is beneficial
