Satire On Drugs

I am not exactly sure how I am supposed to feel about having HIV. Scared. Terrified. Disappointed. Maybe stupid too. Stupid to believe that I was finally in control of my drug addiction. I thought I was over the drugs. I was five months sober and ready to apply for some jobs, so I can get my life together for once, but I was weak and drugs feed on that weakness. I am usually careful about sharing needles, but when you are desperate, intelligence isn’t around to help you make the right choices. I thought I was sick because of the drugs, so I stopped cold turkey, but I just got so much worse, but I didn’t think it would be HIV!

Drug abuse in children and adolescents has been a problem since the past when drugs were used for aliments and now because of the ever present drug problem in our country. There is no community or family that is not affected by the use of drugs in their children. Drug abuse in children and teenagers may pose a greater problem for our country since they have not completely developed their brains to an adult level, with this in thought it seems clear why adolescents can become addicted drugs.

When hearing the term “drug addiction,” certain words might flash across one’s mind. Filth. Slum. Junkie. Crime. There is a dirtiness that these words seem muddled in, as if addiction dwells only in disarrayed and desolate cells in which the corrupt reside. One word that surely hasn’t gone through your head is one of alarming importance: Veterans. Veterans, who have served our country with abnegation, who have seen the worst of humanity, and who have sacrificed their livelihood to preserve others, are often entrapped in a world of drug abuse. To me, and many others, it seems tragic that a hero returns home, simply to get drawn into an addiction.It’s an issue that is often dismissed as a problem low-worth people, but this isn’t always the case;

The main use for people to use drugs is to escape reality, they do this all the time. You can say users of drugs use them to escape and have them help them find their pursuit of happiness. There are countless number of drugs that people take that helps them escape reality and makes them forget about their humanity. In the book Brave New World there is a drug that goes by the name of soma. Soma, is a hallucinogen described as "the perfect drug” in the book. Soma comes with all the benefits such as the ability of calming people, letting the user see the world in surrealistic, and ten-hour long highs with none of those pesky drawbacks such as brain damage and long term damages to the user’s body unless the user over abuses it. Drugs can change your life, Just like games that involve knives. All lure you in, hurting your mind, So when you get caught, it’s a big fine. Becoming addicted can deprive you of sleep And make you start thinking that you’re a sheep.

I as president of the United States of America, will make sure that the illegal drug trade comes to an end. I will do so by indulging drug tests often, your working vicinity will require a drug test quite often to determine whether you have used illegal drugs. Our children, our families suffer from such illegal activities and I will make a number one priority to cease the illegal drug trade.

Dear Former Me, I know you feel this event is insurmountable, but you survived and it wasn’t your fault. Time will heal you I promise; in the meantime love your family, your friends and most importantly, remember to love yourself.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) updated reports on the prevalence of substance addiction in 2015, illegal drugs use has been increasing in the entire United States. In 2013, approximately 24.6 million United States citizens aged 12 and above used illicit drugs. The increase represented a 9.4% of all the population consuming illegal drugs. In 2002, the total population of illicit drug use in America was approximately 8.3%. The increase in substance abuse has been attributed to the breakdown of social ethics in the society.

The issue of drug abuse and addiction in the United States has become much more relevant in the past few years. Drugs and the drug crisis were for the longest time something which was limited geographically, socially and racially. Which is to say that drugs were only a “problem” in the inner city. In the 1980s, this was symbolized by the so-called crack epidemic which ravaged the poorer and most fragile communities in the country. The issue of drug abuse in the United States is important because of how much it impacts the lives of people in all different ways and this problem seems to be increasing. Society must act to save these people in order to improve their lives and build strong communities for the future.

Drugs and alcohol have been used for medical and recreational purposes throughout history. With advancement of technology it has become easier and easier to access these substances. Reporter don't see the boys get on the bus. Kylee gets on the bus rarely. The children are not home schooled. There is no bedding or furniture in the home. There is not kitchen table or any chairs. They sleep on floors. They sleep all day and stay up all night. There are concerns about drug abuse in the home. The boyfriend constantly looks messed up. From the last few decades it has been observed that drugs addiction rate is growing higher and higher. The responsible authorities are partially responsible for this as they are not spreading awareness or taking serious actions on drugs consumption. Among these “marijuana” a kind of drug gained much popularity among the people and is now highly consumed drug not in Europe but in Asia too. This virus does not leave United States too as reports provided by CNN stated that “one in eight United States adults smoke marijuana”. According to statistical reports it was estimated that people of US spends $53 million on marijuana. Drug use in America is one of the major issues we face and the problem has skyrocketed over the past three decades. Heroin and painkiller addictions exceed all other countries. It is important that we address some of the causes that lead to the abuse, how to treat the abuse, and how to prevent the distribution of illegal prescription drugs.

Since 2000, the drug use rate in America has risen to the highest it’s ever been. In a survey done in 2009, 8.7 percent of people age 12 and up said that they used illegal substances within a month of taking the survey, a 9 percent increase since 2008 (Abuse, National Institute on Drug, 2010). This statistic alone is very concerning due to
