4.7 People from different backgrounds may use communication methods in different ways, for example people from different religious beliefs may find some gestures different so you should always make sure you are not doing something that may offend them, and you may also have a language barrier here. Also you may have someone who is deaf or hard of hearing they communicate in different ways, by sign language or pictures to help you understand their needs.
Some people use glasses, if it is a child; we have to make sure they are clean. Provide a large print is also helpful. If necessary let a child sit closer. We allow children to touch the things to give them idea how they look. For blind people we provide material in Brile language.

There are many differing ideas on the best way to communicate in health and social care and there are many strategies used by the many differing professionals working in health and social care. This assignment will review the different strategies used and then will evaluate the differing strategies and their effectiveness when overcoming barriers to effective communication and interpersonal interactions.

1.1 People communicate for many different reasons, it is mainly for understanding what is going on around them and to know what needs to be done. To be able to express their feeling's and say what they need and want. For reassurance when they are not sure of something. And to ask question's when needed, To socialize and get to know other people and the thing's they like, dis-like and their background history.
Communication is one of the most crucial aspects in my role as a lead support worker. Communication is ubiquitous, and we perform it within a wide spectrum that is entirely dependent on context. People chat informally socially in a bar, parents adopt it with simplicity when reading their children bed time stories and workplace managers use it formally when in professional meetings. To be an effective communicator in the health and social care sector one has to understand the communicative needs of the recipient.
Demonstrating knowledge, skills, attitudes and values relating to an individual you are caring for is a central component of communication when providing care to a patient. Throughout the semester the exploration of verbal and non-verbal communication, therapeutic and professional interactions and effective interpersonal communications with individuals as well as others enabled me to identify ways I can improve my own communication skills in order for me to demonstrate therapeutic communication with patients. Helping demonstrate the effectiveness of my therapeutic communication skills is a simulated patient ‘Crabbit Old Woman’, who spoke her concerns in the form of a poem. The importance of communication was analysed and the aspect of communication further developing my knowledge and awareness of communication within myself as well as in a group setting. Therefore, after completing this semester I am confident that I can establish the differences between the communication skills and what situation to apply them in. Furthermore, understanding how I can develop communication within myself to ensure I am the best possible health care professional I can be.
This booklet will be supporting healthcare professionals in understanding barriers to communication and how to overcome them. In this booklet, we will have a number of examples (or scenarios) of barriers and easy to use strategies of how we can support patients in different circumstances. In addition to this booklet, the strategies to overcome different barriers will also be evaluated.
