Did you know that right now in the United States some people think abortion should be illegal and the choice of women to choose what to do about their own bodies and pregnancies is being considered getting taken away from them? Abortion is a medical procedure that terminates pregnancy. It is usually done during the first twelve months of pregnancy, called the first trimester. Abortion has been legal ever since 1973 after the Roe v. Wade court case. This court case overturned all state laws in the United States restricting a woman’s access to abortion procedures during the first trimester and second trimester only in emergency cases. Abortion should be legal so women are free to choose what to do with their own bodies. Abortion was …show more content…
Eighty percent of victims are under the age of thirty. Each year there are about 237, 898 victims of sexual assault. By 1967 many states had changed their abortion laws in cases of rape or incest. Many abortions are carried out for a sole medical purpose, sometimes doctors have to choose between saving the mother or the child. These medical purpose abortions are some times cases where the mother develops severe infections, heart failure or severe cases of preeclampsia, which is a condition in which the mother develops very high blood pressure which would cause her to be at risk for a stroke. Erika Levi, a gynecologist at the University of North Carolina says, “There are certain cases where ending the pregnancy is the only option, cases where it would be putting the mother’s life at risk to continue the pregnacy.” In the 1800’s abortion was illegal except for cases where the mother’s life was at stake. By 1967, many states changed their abortion laws except in extreme cases, such as where the pregnancy interferes with the mother’s mental or physical health or when the fetus has severe physical defects. Data show that women who have abortions have better mental health than some women who give birth. What about adoption some people say, but adoption rates have gone down 15,899 adoptions since 2004 when there were 22,991 adoptions to 2013 when there were only 7,092 adoptions. If we say adoption is better and the
Would you want someone, your own mother even, end your life? You, a fetus, a starving being just months alive, which’s only life support is of the mother, becomes injected with a salt solution. Suddenly your small minuscule brain erupts from the inside out, and in a matter of minutes, you are sucked out of your home for short term of your life, and into the trash you go. How can this monstrosity be a legalized practice for over 40 years? Ever since that fateful day of the Roe vs. Wade court case, the United States was never the same. Ever since the stomping ground of Pro-Life and Pro-Choice freedom fighters started back in the early 70’s, as the court case above all other court cases within
Good’s article, “Why have so many states banned abortions,” offers an insight to the states that actually have put a ban on women’s right to abortion. This article offers a straight forward, non opinionated view into why some states have banned abortion. The article begins with stating that since 2010, 10 states have passed outright bans on abortions. Good is stating the facts, not leaning toward either side of the spectrum. Good’s use of statistics and several different examples of states that have already banned abortion, helped me as a reader to find factual evidence concerning this topic. His use of straightforward dialogue and discussion of why states are banning abortion, make for a solid and fact based argument.
In 1973 the supreme court case Roe vs. Wade made abortion legal. Abortion is one of the safest surgical procedures for women in the United States, with less than one percent of women having complications post procedure. People claim that abortions are inhumane and unethical but so is putting a fetus’s life that hasn’t been born yet before the mother. Although a lot of people are against abortion and claim it’s unconstitutional, the abortion bill is necessary for mothers because of irreversible birth defects, emotional wellness, and traumatic incidents.
Abortion should be outlawed because it harms women. During abortion much damage and health disorders happen to women. A lot of children are murdered every year in the United States. There are different kinds of families in the world. Most of those families care about their children. On the other hand, some women, especially teenagers, often get pregnant and do not understand the consequences. When this happens, they think the only solution for their pregnancy is abortion which is violation of the most fundamental law of nature. Many people regret having an abortion. This practice should be outlawed because it harms women, violates human rights, and kills unborn children.
I can make an argument all day about how abortions are morally wrong, but if I do not have a solution to the problem that I am arguing, then I am just being a bigot. A bigot is defined as some being narrow-minded towards an individual who has an opposing view. I truly believe that there are other solutions than continuing with the abortion procedure and that is giving the child up for adoption, teach more about safe sex, and last, set an early deadline on abortions.
Want to know the quickest way to divide a room? Bring up this subject, should abortion be legal, or illegal. Abortion to me, should not be illegal; furthermore, my belief is that religion shouldn’t be a deciding factor in aborting a pregnancy and the opinion of others shouldn’t have anything to do with it either. Let people do what they want and what is best for them, don’t let your belief affect others and don’t force your beliefs on them. People wont live their own lives, they want to make the world they way they think it should be, newsflash, it doesn’t work that way. Everybody is in a different situation, and financial stability, people should do the right thing for them, because why bring a child in to this world, if you don’t want it
Each year a horrifying amount of women get abortions, while some of them not only sacrifice their fetus life, but it can sometimes cost them with death. Most doctors say that abortion is not a dangerous procedure; but yet again, some women die or can suffer from physical problems later on with their life. Are some doctor really just doing it for the patient well being or is it just money what their looking for? This has been one of the most sensitive topics among people, but why is this? Is it because the women has a right to choose or does the baby have the right? Even though abortion is legal in the United States it should be forbidden because it goes against religion beliefs, it take away Human right for the baby, and it can lead to physical
Throughout the United States, abortion is legal and illegal, because it is such a controversial topic. America would be better of if abortions were legal nationally and government funded.
The topic of abortion is one of the most controversial topics affecting our society. The disagreement between for and against abortion has caused hundreds of fights that have even resulted in death. Regardless of what many individuals may accept, fetus removal is not right or off. It is a matter of individual assessment. Consequently, each one side can say with assurance that alternate isn't right.
To this very day abortion has become a very sensitive issue worldwide. Known as a moral and ethical issue, abortion is an issue society should come to terms with. Abortion became legal on January 22, 1973 since women have the right to freedom and the choice to live their life as they please.

Imagine a terminally ill loved one lying in a hospital bed, slowly dying of cancer, and the only two words he or she continues to repeat are “kill me.” If physician-assisted suicide, or PAS, was legal in the United States, loved ones would no longer have to suffer. In order to allow terminally ill patients to die with dignity, the U.S. government needs to legalize PAS. PAS should be legalized because it grants patients the right to a respectable death, the process ensures patients are competent enough to request it, and US physicians and American Medical Association, or AMA, board members approve of it.
Reason number 3 is poverty. Poverty is the state of being extremely poor and having children cost and insane amount of money to care for. If forced to give birth because you don’t want to put them in the adoption system then you can go into debt. Forcing you to go broke if you don’t have family with you to help or you become homeless because you was barely taking care of yourself. All in all a good way to become practically broke and poor is to have a child which isn’t good for you nor the kid
Abortion is an issue that is increasingly becoming more widely accepted, approved and even encouraged. This is an issue that must be addressed by the Christian church in America and across the global. Not only does abortion kill millions of unborn children each year, it also speaks to the heart problems of selfishness, conceit, and hopelessness that characterize so many people in the church, country and world. This is a problem that cannot be ignored. It is wrong on many levels and it is the duty of Christians to stand up and speak up for those who have no voice and mothers who feel that they have no hope.
Abortion has been preformed for over thousands of years. It was first started for the fear among the “native” Anglo-Saxon women. They believed that the population would be dominated by the children of the incoming immigrants, who had higher birth rates at the time. In the mid-to-late 1800s, states began legalizing abortion but antiseptics were unfamiliar, hospitals were not common, and doctors did not have the knowledge to understand abortion. As years went on, the scientific method began to take over medical practice, technology and it increased the prevention of infection. Abortion procedures became more effective and much safer. The only problem was the states that were anti-abortion, led women who needed abortions to get them from
