Should Athletes Get Overpaid

You’re sitting there staring at the bill that just came in the mail. As a underpaid teacher, it’s hard to pay all your bills. As you’re looking at it, an athlete is getting millions for not helping nor saving people, just entertaining, while many people are struggling paying just one bill . Even if they have an actual job that is beneficial to people. Athletes are definitely overpaid.

IF you don’t think athletes are overpaid your whole opinion about that will change after reading this. There is no reason a person should be paid over 20 million a year unless they discover something new like a disease or cure for cancer. You should be paid like 10 million per year not 150 on average.Normal people only get like 75000 a year but nba people get 50 million. Or there are most NFL players getting overpaid so its very bad on the payroll. The NFL and NBA need to get paid less with there association it is very bad with there system.

The question of should student athletes get paid is an argument that is growing in debate in recent years. Mostly pertaining to college Football and Basketball. Especially when the revenue generated from these sports rival those of its professional counterparts. Some would argue that receiving a full athletic scholarship is payment enough. Or, student athletes are no different from any college student working their way through college. However, these student athletes are not guaranteed full scholarships and deal mostly the same pressures of athletes that make their living playing these sports.

The topic on whether or not professional athletes get paid too much or not is a significant topic. A recent article has shown that the average athlete does get paid way too much. He/She are doing the thing they love and they are getting paid millions for it. There is too much money being spent on these athletes and it’s all coming out of our pockets.Yes, I do believe athletes get paid too much and I believe they should be getting a deduction from their salary.

Some think that professional athletes are paid too much. They think that the money should go towards the people that “do something that helps society,” such as doctors, teachers, the military, etc. Also, some think that all the money they make is not necessary to make a living, or that athletes are very irresponsible with their money.

Anytime people think of famous athletes, they think of them as role models to follow and superstars with a lot of money. What exactly do all of these athletes do with so much money? Do athletes get paid too much, according to this statement “The top 10 earners rake in a combined $496.9 million, and they sure do know how to treat themselves” (Melia). Professional athletes are making too much money in a society that wages are traditionally on the value of someone’s work. Some might argue that athletes get paid just right for the amount of effort and sacrifice they take every day in order to give the world the entertainment they want.

All over the world, there are pro athletes that work for their earnings, while others take it for granted. Many get paid the appropriate amount while some are overpaid. Here are the reasons why most athletes are overpaid.

Athletes are what you could call spoiled, and a lot of people believe that they are not overpaid.But there are so many more important jobs that are actually doing something for our society, but were wasting this money and giving it to athletes who just play a game for their money. A lot of this is our fault to, we watch them play on tv, we fill the stadiums, we purchase the tickets , and we buy their merchandise. The average American family makes $53,657, some of this goes to bills,taxes, and the food they need to eat. Is this really fair? Athletes can basicly just throw their money around on whatever. American also have it pretty good but were not spoiled, Africa on the other hand, it's a struggle and it's kinda sad that they don't get this easiness of life.

Do you really think that athletes deserve to make more money than the nurses of this country!? Did you know that athlete’s salaries are up to $56 million a year? Yet Barack Obama-the president of the U.S- only makes $400,000! Do you realize what this means? It says something terrible about our society. We prefer entertainment over safety. Many athletes are paid millions of dollars. Some people think these athletes don’t deserve their money, but others do. This has been a problem that has been on and off. Never really solved. Did athletes deserve their money? Yes or no? Most likely it will never be cleared!

I grew up watching professional sports. I always wanted to grow up to be just like them and secretly, still do. However, growing up, I was never really aware of the ridiculous amounts of money that the athletes earned and in the past few years I have been hearing many people complaining about how much the athletes make. According to my survey, 30 percent of people surveyed believe that athletes are overpaid. Honestly, I expected it to be more than that since I hear so much about the salaries of the athletes. I, myself, have always believed that professional athletes are not overpaid so I wanted to do research and be able to have more reasoning behind my opinion. I also would like to makes it so that

How would you feel if you played a professional sport in front of thousands of people and didn’t make a lot of money for it? I would feel like I was cheated and it would feel unfair. Athletes would experience this feeling if they didn’t make the money that they do. My main reasons for why the salaries athletes should not be decreased are the fact that they retire early. Also, because professional sports make so much money, so a lot of this money should be given to the players for the hard work that they do. Lastly, the injury risk of sports like football are quite high, so the players need to have enough money to afford the surgery and care that they need.

This year, Lionel Messi made over $80,000,000, Cristiano Ronaldo made almost $93,000,000, and Floyd Mayweather made $300,000,000 and that too mostly in a single night! Athletes are making such absurd sums of money, and it’s effortless to say that they’re over-paid when doctors spend 15 aggravating years studying to get where they are and only to earn a negligible fraction of that sum. Well, guess what? As repulsive and outrageous as it may sound, athletes deserve every single penny. Athletes are deserving of their salary and their wage should be kept the same.

There is a controversy on whether or not athletes are overpaid. The truth is athletes are very generous with their money. They spread it out with love and care. Some even donate hundreds of thousands to kids that need money for medical issues. Take Cam Newton, for example. He has an organization for kids that have nothing, but he gives those less fortunate kids something. Athletes deserve every single penny that they earn during their occupation time.

Some athletes donate a large portion of their money to charity and volunteer at local centers. There are many opinions on the pay of athletes. Some reasons why people think athletes are paid too much include that they get to do what they enjoy while making millions, while some people are stuck doing jobs that they don’t enjoy just to be able to put food on the table. Americans believe that they should be paid less than other jobs like the military or doctors jobs that actually, benefit people. A teacher who is able to change the lives of many is still only paid a fraction of what athletes receive. Some understand professional athletes may try to change the lives of kids but their actions sometimes aren't the brightest. Now kids are taking a knee during the national anthem because their favorite professional athlete does.
