Dogs are friendly, loyal house pets. They are intelligent, so they can provide services to people, such as working with police officers at airports searching bags for bombs and illegal drugs. Dogs work as guards protecting families and their most valuable belongings. Many disabled people live with trained dogs. These animals are versatile, intelligent and loyal. By far, dogs are more superior pets than any other pet. People should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets because there is a lot of misunderstood information that people do not know about, and they are not aggressive, and they are an excellent dog/ pet. Many people have wrong information about pit bulls. “After adopting a pit bull herself, Dickey was shocked to witness the negative responses her pet evoked” (Kirkus). These dogs are very smart, and most everybody does not realize that. They are very easy to train and learn things quickly. Back in the day, pit bulls were used to help hunters hunt and kill bears. They are very affectionate towards their owners. They like to remind you regularly of how they feel towards and that means a lot of kisses and tail wagging. They are strong territorial dogs, when around strangers they are very reserved, also a very reliable guard dog. Pit bulls are the big dogs in the dog world and are very serious about their guarding job. Even though it may take a strong adult to train and hold back on a leash they are great with children. Early training is important to make sure everyone is safe around them. “Pit Bull Terriers are said by their owners to be a ‘loyal companion dogs… obedient, loving and protective’” (Morris 363).
