Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences between the arguments for more or less homework are remarkable. It is important to see both the positive and negative viewpoints, because homework is something that every student will have to deal with. It can be stressful with extracurricular activities and at some points may seem useless. However, homework is beneficial for understanding the material, and keeping kids out of trouble. Overall, I believe that even though homework may be excessive at some points, it can be extremely beneficial for the future.

I believe, as a student, that homework is just a tool that teachers use to keep us busy. Being a student who has received homework for various years, I have found that homework causes me a lot of stress (Ethos). Homework causes kids to get very stressed out, it causes stress in their families, and studies show that it does not improve test scores. High school students don’t get enough homework. Too many students are getting sleep during school, which could only be because they are being deprived from all the wonderful homework they are suppose to be getting. Forcing students to do homework should be the main things teachers do as their job. Homework is key to understanding everything in school and everything in the real world. Homework is everything in school. If students don’t get the homework, well then they won’t be graduating anytime soon, because you need to have homework to make it in the real world as an adult.

The school year is coming up and we need to decide whether teachers should choose books for students to read or students should choose the books. I support on the side that students should get to choose the books that they will read in class. For instance, students should get to choose books so they not only want to read the class book but will want to read other books outside of class. Furthermore, students should get to choose books so they will get to learn to be more mature. Therefore, students should choose books so they will learn to work together. In other words, students should get to choose the books that they will read in class.

As it should be known students should not be assigned homework. Homework decreases the time students have for extra curricular activities. Students should have enough time to still be able to participate in after school activities. Learning from this we can understand homework is a long activity that is partly pointless. Coming from this we know homework is starting to cut into the students sports and clubs which is making students not have some of their own time to do what they like. Students should always every single day have some of their own time.

Should we have limited homework? For this question I thought a lot. Yes, I do believe homework is necessary. But I do not think we need as much homework as we receive. I personally think it’s not fair to kids or their family’s.

The general arguments given by teachers and some parents are that homework increases the overall grade averages, sharpens study habits, and helps students become more prepared for college work. Along with that, it helps students learn responsibility for life in the work field of the real work. Although these arguments are valid, there are arguments against homework as well. Homework causes students to be stressed out when there is too much to be done by a certain deadline and takes away the free time of students. Some of the work that students are assigned isn't relevant to what they are studying. Worst of all, it causes that struggling student to lose interest in the study of that subject ("Students and Homework"). While it does have negative outcomes, homework also has it's perks.
