Turning sixteen is a major turning point in a teenager’s life, you’re finally at the age where you are given much more responsibility and freedom than before. And the biggest responsibility is being able to get your license and drive. And being given the keys to a car means a teenager can move on from depending on their parents. That’s why raising the driving age from sixteen will cause much more harm than good to many teen’s lives. The legal driving age should not be raised, despite the many efforts by the government. There is no need to raise it, the positive effects will not come close to the negatives that come’s along with it, additionally teens need to get prepared for the real world, need to drive to get around, and most of the time car crashes are not even their fault. If push comes to shove their needs to be better driver education and standards to help teens to be more prepared to drive and improving graduating driver licensing. Graduating driver licensing(GDL) or restrictive licensing is a way that states regulate what a teen can do when they first get their license to limit the amount of crashes they get into and to keep them safe. Although the age differs from state to state the same general restrictions still apply. Which include determining whether a new driver can drive with passengers, and even having a curfew set for driving times. In Florida sixteen-year old cannot drive between 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Keeping them off the streets at night. They however cannot
Young drivers should have to wait until they are 18 years old to get their license because 16 year olds are more likely to get in an accident than an older driver. One author said, “Sixteen-year-old drivers are the most likely to crash, so raising the age at which teens could get their license would save many lives…” (Rubin). Rubin gives a valid reason to why the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18. If the driving age is raised, there would be less people involved in wrecks, which would help the world out as a whole. Even though 16 year olds are more accident prone than other drivers, taking 16 year olds off of the road would save the lives of everyone on the road. However, there are people who believe that the minimum driving age should not be raised because of various reasons. One article states that, “If they have to wait until they are 17 or 18, they remain dependent on parents practically until they are ready to go off to college, join the military or take a
For many teenagers obtaining their driver’s license is the first initial step of becoming an adult. Many political and public figures question the ability to drive legally at age 16; in some states even younger. There are many reasons why many individuals question the legal driving age such as how will impact society? If the legal driving age in the United States is raised to 18 will there be a decrease of accidents? In the United States most states allow teenagers to have a learner’s permit and a driver’s license at age 16. Rising the legal driving age would cut down on car accidents and associated damages, cut down on teen deaths from traffic accidents and allow for teens to gain more experience before driving on their own.
If you live in the United States of America, the legal driving age is sixteen, and has been for a while now. However, many states are considering raising the age from sixteen to eighteen because they think if students aren’t old enough to vote or join the military, they certainly aren’t old enough to drive. Changing this law will affect each and every person and family differently. Therefore, the impacts of changing this old law will have negative and positive consequences by limiting sixteen year olds who drive to work, helping keep the streets save from distracted teens, and confining teenagers’ freedom.

I understand that individuals want the driving age to be raised. Sixteen-year-olds can be very irresponsible and immature. There are also the safety concerns that can happen, for example, car crashes. However, I believe that the age requirement to drive should stay the same. Teens get the freedom they have been wanting. Teens are able to get jobs to help save up for college. Teens can also learn the responsibilities that come with driving or owning a vehicle. Therefore, what I am trying to say is sixteen-year-olds are responsible enough to

In 2014, 2,270 teens in the U.S. ages 16-19 were killed and 221,313 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. State legislature should raise minimum driving age from 16 to 18 because of the immaturity level of 16 year olds, responsibility, and they would be older and have more experience. If driving age was moved up it would make the roads a much safer place to be.
Most teenagers look forward to the big 16 for numerous reasons. There are lots of factors for this reason, including, more responsibilities, more independence, and one of the big ones, getting a drivers licenses. The age limits for driving have been debated on for such a long time now. The age limit for driving varies according to what country you’re living in. In my opinion, the driving age in the United States should not be raised to age 18 because I believe that age has nothing to do with responsibility, getting to and from school and curricular activities can be hard without your own transportation, and not all families have a person eligible to drive.
According to the article "States Urged to Raise the Driving Age." approximately 5,000 teenagers die each year in car crashes; however, not all of the 5,000 deaths are the fault of teenage drivers, other drivers- who could be adults- can create accidents which lead to the death of teenagers, which proves that anybody can create a vehicle accident. Several states have already raised the driving age from 16 to 18. Raising the driving age will only create bad drivers at 18 instead of 16. The states that have raised the driving age believe that the number of teenage fatalities will be reduced as 16 year olds would not be permitted to obtain a driver license until they reach the age of 18. After all, every driver on the road was inexperienced, as well as, accident prone at one time or another. Therefore, the driving age should not be raised as every driver must become experienced.
The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen-year old’s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license.
Turning sixteen-years-old is a milestone to many teenagers. In the majority of states, this is the age when adolescents become eligible for attaining a driver’s license. A growing number of people feel that the only way to truly prevent tragedy is to increase the driving age. I believe, that the state legislature should raise the legal keep the legal driving age as it is. It would fully allow the said person to take on responsibility at the age of sixteen, and the experience of driving is with the driver before they are out on their own; either being with a job, or moving on to college. At sixteen, teenagers should be allowed to drive.
Should the legal age of driving be sixteen? No I don’t believe that a sixteen-year-old needs a license. I believe that the minimum age should be seventeen and that a teen still shouldn’t be able to drive after eight at night. There are more wrecks with injuries or even deaths that involve teens than that of non-teens.
