How a Single Act Can Establish a Hero Who is a hero? Is it a veteran, celebrity, or an everyday mom or dad? Well, heroes or heroines are usually defined as anyone who are idealized for their courage, outstanding achievements, or their brave deeds. Heroic stature can be obtained through a single act. Numerous people have established themselves as heroes by doing a single act that demonstrated extraordinary heroism, others on the other hand have done multiple acts to become a hero. Not everyone is born to be a hero, but anyone can achieve the title of a hero by simply helping others in various ways. Therefore, a single act can establish one as a hero or heroine no matter who they are. Initially, a single act can identify someone as a hero because it could be one huge act. A few out of the thousands of heroes could be the Man In The Water, Galileo Galilei, and Jordan Rice. For example, the man in the water acted selfless when Air Florida Flight 90 crashed into the Potomac River. As a result of this behavior, he died but then saved 5 other people. To achieve heroic stature, one must show valor. This shows how a single act can establish someone as a hero. Additionally, Galileo Galilei also represents a hero. The actions of Galileo “challenging the orthodoxy of the church through his own scientific discoveries” led to Galileo risking his life. In other words Galileo went against the theory that his church had with his own theories. To earn the title of a hero, one must show courage. This further shows how a single act could establish someone as a hero. Lastly, Jordan Rice is a heroic figure. Jordan acted selfless when the rescuers came.
