Pratiksha Tathed MS: Petroleum Engineering Statement of Purpose ‘It is when I struggle that I strengthen. It is when challenged to my core that I learn the depth of who I am.’ I kept on repeating this to myself waiting for my campus interview in the final year. Sitting there with fervor, I entered the room with utmost confidence. The whole interview was not just technical but challenged my grit, determination and presence of mind. And after coming out of the interview, I just knew I had grabbed the opportunity. That day taught me; challenges can make you or break you; it all depends on you. Inspiration can come from anywhere. Right from school, I was always inquisitive and curious about how things work. I had a penchant towards Mathematics and Science in general and I ranked within top 10 in a class of 55-60 students. In Class X, I received ‘Best Girl’ trophy for my good conduct and consistent performance. My basic interest led me to take up Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects in high school. This was the time when I was following the spiking oil prices on internet and the repercussions it had …show more content…
The momentous step of venturing into the Graduate Program is towards the desired career in research and innovation. I chose Texas A & M University because of its meticulous research work, excellent academic faculty, and diverse student base. The research works by Dr. A Daniel Hill, Dr. Ding Zhu, and Dr. Hisham Nasr-El-Din have inspired and influenced my thinking processes. My research interest pertains to production engineering from scale formation evaluation, stimulation, to unconventional resources. I am also encouraged by Dr. Hascakir’s work in areas of asphaltene study and enhance oil
“Accept the challenge so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.” Stated by George S. Patton, a senior officer of the United States Army, trying to explain that if you try to achieve difficult goals and complete them, you will feel success and feel good about yourself. You will feel that because you knew that you have put in the work to complete that and you have felt better than you ever felt before. Challenges are always needed because they help you gain confidence, grow, learn, and excel in whatever you are doing. They are needed because when you excel, you want to do more challenging things because you want to feel that success again. This means that when you have tough goals and complete it, you will feel success and grow as an individual and want to challenge yourself even more.
“Embrace each challenge in your life as an opportunity for self-transformation.” (Bernie S. Siegel)Challenges is inevitable in our life. It is painful, but it will become a great treasure in our life as long as we dare to facing it. Even I’m still young, I have already faced to thousands of challenges.
This experience led me to understand how every challenge faced in life is a new opportunity. There are not only risks, but also rewards; because of this, it is essential to maximize one’s knowledge of every situation, and to be flexible in times of change. I have encountered countless obstacles in my life, yet it is how I dealt with these obstacles that made me into the person that I am today. In time, I have learned not to let challenges distract me from achieving the goals I set for myself. The last few years have taught me that through the most difficult times, I hold the power to change my course in
Inspirations are not always easy to come by. You must be open to new experiences in order to find inspiration. Growing up, I was the shy, nerdy girl who always followed the rules and was nervous to try new things; that ofcourse changed as time passed. In our capstone class we are assigned a middle school student that we can mentor and help get out of their shell. The closest person that I had to a mentor was Casey Rainbolt.
A challenge is defined as a task or a situation that tests one’s abilities. Challenges can be created by one. Occasionally, they can even appear without our control. Instead of concealing myself from the challenges, like several people, I confront them. Every trial that I face never fails to teach the unique and unfamiliar attributes about myself. Even though tests might be harder than other tests, I strive to undertake all of them to discover the capacity of my abilities. Challenges should not be seen as something that prevents progress, but rather something that welcomes it. Working harder and staying committed to be in the top 10% had been a challenge that I faced junior year.
Challenges in life are easily the most important aspect of life. Without challenges, we as people would never grow and evolve into something better and new. I know I would not be where I am now without buckling down and embracing those challenges placed before me. I have taken on an immeasurable amount of good experiences, knowledge and challenges through the past year and a half. Within the past year I have moved on my own, gotten a career defining job and chosen a career path that is truly incredible.
Challenging situations are mere hurdles in my path that I will always remember and learn from. I didn’t always have such a positive outlook on the issue until the time I faced a problem that may affect my life forever. My freshman year in high school will be one that I will never forget because I had all the opportunities in front of me, but I couldn’t find the ability to seek them out and for that reason, it’s something that I regret. Coming into freshman year I had plenty of influential people in my life tell me the importance of the first year, however, I elected to take their word lightly and ended up receiving the worst grades of my life. This decision that I chose to make has haunted me ever since and I have strived to make every possible
Challenges can build you up or break you down. They are what define your success throughout life. They can seem impossible, but overcoming difficulty makes you stronger, and it increases your ability to conquer challenges in future. That is the very definition of success, however success can sometimes be hard to grasp. Knowing how to face challenges and efficiently complete them is essential for a successful life.
Furthermore, I strongly believe that an American academic environment is the best place for me to achieve this, because not only it would provide me with a magnificent atmosphere to broaden my horizons, but also it has the reputation for being the best place to experience practical team work. I am very excited about the prospect of studying Mining Engineering at this university, as I believe it will open the doors to a wealth of opportunities In the future. The program is intensive and covers all topics of my interest in detail. So I corresponded with Dr. Elizabeth Holley, who works in the areas of my interest such as Mineral Exploration especially for porphyry and epithermal deposits and her supportive response encouraged me to apply to your university. I am confident that my solid background, creativity, communication skills and passion for learning will allow me to succeed in the
As the world is moving towards more advancement, many constructions are planned and constructed day to day. Any structural construction simply stands on the soil. So, Geotechnical Engineering has much more to do with every construction being planned. Always being an enthusiast to learning and innovation, the four-year undergraduate degree inspired me to achieve and learn more.
In this dynamic world of automotive technology, where every other day sees a spate of new concepts and innovation emerging, I want to stay on fast track. It is my strong perception that a Basic undergraduate education is inadequate for securing in-depth knowledge of a particular field. Master’s degree at your university would not only provide me subject matter proficiency but also thorough research oriented study would help me lay substance for gratification of my dream of reaching the pinnacle in Automotive Engineering.
“Did I win? Did I lose? Those are the wrong questions. The correct question is: Did I make my best effort?” If so, he says, “You may be outscored but you will never lose.”
I am in pursuit of a life where the education I choose lets me explore the wealth of knowledge and wisdom. I strongly recognize that manufacturing engineering is the domain where my purpose and passion mingle. It is my earnest belief that the education in manufacturing engineering that I have received until now has helped me to grasp the fundamental principles of the subject. This knowledge, when coupled with dedicated master’s study would be the ideal preparation for a career in applied research or academics in the manufacturing industry, a vast field of science from developing new materials to manufacture an aircraft. After giving a visit to an Aero India Show last year in Bangalore has, developed a curiosity in me to know the manufacturing world of an aerospace industry. It is for this reason that I wish to pursue a Masters course in Aerospace Engineering in the “Aerospace Structures and Materials track” from Delft University of Technology.
Chemical engineering is a research oriented field which has flourished over the centuries and finds its applications in almost every product we use in our life these days. The myriad and multifarious applications of this branch always captivated me. My interest in Chemical Engineering has accreted exponentially as I’ve been learning about this branch in my under graduation, and thus became certain that a career as Chemical Engineer suits me. This field has a large potential for research and that is what I envisage myself doing in a few years from now. I believe that a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering would augment my intellectual knowledge and furnish me with strong fundamentals that are needed to create something
Recent discoveries of oil and gas deposits in some African countries, such as Ghana, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Uganda etc. present new opportunities to chart a sustainable growth and development path that facilitates poverty reduction.
