'Struggle With Being Tough In Scouts's Honor'

I remember seeing my pinewood derby car going down the track; it was silver, blue letters on it that said sonic and black wheels that sounded like a hot wheels car going down a track. I was only 6 years old when that happened. Now I stand in front of the board representing Boy Scouts of America, ¨Congratulations, you are officially an Eagle Scout.¨ It hits me all the sudden like a wave hitting a sea wall, an 11 year journey just ended and it’s time to see the outcome.

The author and I both have a quality that helps us overcome difficult situations and to push through them while others may give up. I acknowledge that the problems I face everyday may not be as severe as Murray’s; however, the idea is still the same.

“Scouts Honor” by Avi is a realistic short fiction story about a nine-year-old-boy who is in scouting. In the beginning, the main character and his friends join scouts and they want to be tough and to earn the next rank in boy scouts, but they need to go camping. Soon they talk about going camping and the boys decide to go camping. When they left, they didn't have any experience camping, whatsoever. They go camping without an adult. In the end they try to cross the bridge, but they're scared and they push on. When they reach the other side they find a campsite and try to set up and they don't have enough food so they say that they weren't tough so they go home. Throughout the story the boys were not prepared.

“Scouts Honor” by Avi a realistic fiction story about kids that are nine going on a camping trip by there self in a different st years old ate. In the beginning the narrator wanted to prove he was brave so he joined boy scouts. Soon The narrator wanted to be the highest in the league in boy scouts and when his friends heard that they had to go camping by there self they wanted to do it to. in the end when they were try to get to the camping place they got scared and confested that they weren't brave to do it as they said they were. This story shows that people don't have to do to show what people want to think deep down people are who people are.

Before the narrator was deployed his mother told him that no matter what happened, he that must always look after his brother. Then she proceeded to tell him a story about his father and his father’s brother. She said that one Saturday night his father and his father’s brother were coming home and they were both a little drunk. They were headed down a hill and beneath them was a road that turned off from the highway. So, his father’s brother, being kind of frisky, decided to run down this hill. Then his father heard a car motor not too far away, and that same moment, his brother stepped from behind the tree and started to cross the road. So, his father started to run down the hill and when he looked at the car he noticed that it was full of drunken white men looking to have a good time. When the men saw his father’s brother they let out great whoops and hollers and aimed the car at his father’s brother, running him over. So, as a result of hearing that story the narrator promised to his mother that he would always look after his brother and the narrator kept his promise, but in the end he just pushed his brother further and further

Some were experienced fighters and some were boys or girls. They sabotaged railroads , stole weapons, and blew up factories… Ben, with his parents' permission, snuck out joined up. (8). This act shows courage because Ben and his family had to know they might not see each other again.

“His mom had an operation and didn’t have health insurance, and the bills are pretty rough.” (Bauer 94) But instead of fulfilling his dreams in journalism, “He was going to major in journalism.” (Bauer 94) he stayed home and supported his family. “He’s staying home to help support his mom and sisters.” (Bauer 94) How he overcame his struggle was working hard and getting accepted into a college. “Braverman finally was going to college with help from a town scholarship G.T. had set up. Combined with the money he and his mother had been saving, it was just enough.” (Bauer 177) Braverman had big difficult challenges in his life, but with hardwork and determination, he overcame his struggle.

In conclusion, I wanted to tell you that hard work pays off, because if you want to accomplish something do it. As you can see, Tim was not afraid to face that gang. And he conquered his fear and beat up a member. You don’t have to try everything just to be a hero or a man about everything, but do learn to face your fears. But this story was about Tim’s life experiences living in a bad neighborhood and how he dealt with

So my brother went through some marine boot camp in california and from the years he was apart of the training, he taught me some survival stuff, how to defend yourself basic stuff. When I was in high school I remember I used to see marines come during lunch time and talk to some people. They had some free bottles and keychains little trinkets. Just to come talk about what they are doing for training. Just last year I know a friend that was in Boy Scout, and he became an Eagle Scout.

One of the very important lessons she learned was not to kill a mocking bird because mocking birds do nothing except play music for us to enjoy. Scout didn’t just learn from Atticus she learned from Jem to. She learned from Jem by studying him and watching him grow up. One example of whar she learned was when she found a roly-poly and jem told her to put him back because roly-poly’s don’t bother you She learned two very important lessons from jem you shouldn’t fight and you shouldn’t harm anything that doesn’t harm you.

Scout’s courage is evident when describing her attitude towards Boo Radley and her father’s defense for Tom Robinson For example, Scout usually confront those who criticize her family members, but when Atticus to her: “You just hold your head high and keep those fists down, no matter what anybody says to you, don’t let ’em get your goat” (Lee 101), Scout unwillingly agreed. This act acknowledged Scout’s courage, as the next day when Cecil Jacobs taunted Scout’s father for defending and African American, she followed her father’s advice and walked off without a fight.
